Moonblood: A Hale Reborn

Chapter 11: Chapter Ten: Closer Than Ever

🌅Morning Shift

The morning after the confrontation between Nova and Hope, everything felt different. Not just in the way the dorm room seemed quieter, or the way the sun spilled across the floor—but in the way Nova and Hope existed in the same space. ☀️🛏️💫

No tension. No walls. Just quiet understanding.

Nova woke first, blinking at the soft morning light filtering through the curtains. Hope's arm was draped around her waist, and her head rested against Hope's shoulder. For a moment, Nova just stared at her, heart full and annoyingly fluttery. She carefully shifted, trying not to wake her.

Hope's eyes cracked open instantly. "Nice try," she muttered, pulling Nova back into the bed.

Nova groaned. "You're clingy in the mornings. That's new."

"You like it," Hope replied, voice raspy with sleep.

They lay there for a while longer, trading lazy comments and half-lidded glances until the sun fully crept in. Eventually, Nova stretched and sighed. "Guess we should get up."

Hope smirked. "Only if you promise not to sneak off without me."

They got dressed—Hope taking her sweet time—and left the dorm together, walking toward the cafeteria. It was the first time they'd been seen side by side since everything had changed.

Whispers followed them like shadows.

Hope noticed the way heads turned, how conversations paused mid-sentence. She raised her chin, silently daring anyone to say something. Nova, beside her, looked unbothered, though Hope caught the twitch of her jaw. 🙄👀📣

They sat at a corner table. Nova sipped water and frowned at the untouched coffee.

"Aren't you going to drink that?" Hope asked.

Nova wrinkled her nose. "Can't. Not safe for the baby."

Hope blinked. "Right. I should probably start researching this stuff. Like... all of it."

Nova chuckled. "Look at you being all responsible."

"Don't sound so surprised," Hope replied, nudging her foot under the table.

They talked about classes and training restrictions, though Nova grumbled at the mention. Hope gently reminded her that the nurse said no more contact sports, which earned her a dramatic eye roll.

"What am I supposed to do for stress now?" Nova muttered.

Hope smirked. "I've got ideas." 😉📝💡

🗣️Rumors and Reactions🎓🌀

As if on cue, rumors had already started swirling through the halls—thanks to Jed.

Apparently, he'd caught wind that Nova was pregnant and, true to his reputation, wasted no time in letting that tidbit slip during sparring practice. Within hours, half the school knew.

The reactions were mixed. Some students whispered in awe, others smirked knowingly. A few glanced at Hope with curiosity and even suspicion, trying to do the math in their heads. 🤔📚🗯️

Hope felt the weight of their stares but didn't flinch. She kept her hand gently on Nova's lower back any time they walked through the corridors, her stance unreadable but protective. Nova, for her part, rolled her eyes and muttered sarcastic commentary under her breath.

"I should have just punched Jed in the face," she grumbled.

"Tempting," Hope said. "But then I'd have to scold you for overexertion."

Nova made a face. "You're no fun."

"I'm loads of fun. Just ask your hormones."

Nova elbowed her but didn't deny it.

Still, despite the school gossip mill, neither of them denied or confirmed anything. Their silence only fed the fire. 🔥🕵️‍♀️📣

🛏️Craving Comfort

Nova's cravings had grown increasingly specific—and bizarre. One day it was spicy fries dipped in vanilla ice cream, the next it was strawberries soaked in hot sauce. Hope didn't blink. She showed up with whatever Nova asked for, no matter how strange. 🍓🍟🍨

"You're enjoying this," Nova accused one night, munching on something unspeakable.

Hope shrugged. "I like keeping you happy."

It wasn't just food. Nova found herself constantly tired, more emotional than usual, and worst of all, she couldn't stop wanting to be touched. Not in the sexy way—though that was definitely still there—but in the quiet, grounding kind.

She hated it. Or rather, she hated that she needed it.

One evening, Hope returned from class to find Nova curled up in bed, trying (and failing) not to cry.

"Hey," Hope said gently, toeing off her boots. "Bad day?"

"I don't know how to be soft," Nova whispered, voice cracking. "I don't know how to let someone care without expecting them to leave."

Hope sat beside her, rubbing small circles on her back. "You don't have to know. Just let me try."

Nova looked at her, green eyes glassy. "I'm almost three months. If it's already this hard now... what's it going to be like later?"

"Then we do it together," Hope said. "All of it. One weird craving and emotional spiral at a time." 💕🫂🌙

🐺Protective Pack Drama 🛡️👥

Later that week, Hope approached their dorm room after class and found herself face-to-face with the Beacon Hills pack.

Ethan, Aiden, Lydia, Malia, Stiles, and Isaac were all gathered around the door. Derek Hale leaned against the wall, arms crossed, unreadable.

Hope arched a brow. "Is this an ambush or a meeting?"

Lydia stepped forward. "We want to know where you stand with Nova."

"No disappearing acts," Aiden added.

Isaac's eyes were steady. "Nova's been through a lot. She doesn't need more heartache."

Hope met each gaze without flinching. "I'm not going anywhere. I'm here. For her. For the baby."

Derek studied her, then gave a slow, approving nod. "Good. Because she's our family."

Nova's voice broke the tension. "You know I'm standing right here, right?"

Everyone turned. Nova leaned against the hallway wall, arms crossed, trying (and failing) to look unimpressed. 🤨💬🧍‍♀️

As the laughter from the pack faded and the dorm door finally shut, a strange quiet settled between them. Not awkward—just charged.

Hope leaned against the door, eyebrows raised. "So… I survived your pack's pop quiz. Do I get a sticker or something?"

Nova tilted her head, a playful smirk curling at her lips. "I was thinking more of a reward system."

Hope quirked an eyebrow. "Oh yeah?"

Before she could say more, Nova moved—swift and deliberate—pressing her hands to Hope's shoulders and guiding her backward. Hope let out a soft "oof" as she landed on her mattress, eyes wide but very amused.

"Bold of you," Hope said, grinning.

Nova straddled her waist, slow and deliberate, green eyes glinting. "I figure I've earned a little bold."

Her hands splayed across Hope's chest, not quite teasing but not entirely innocent either. Hope's breath caught for a beat, heart hammering. Nova leaned down, their faces inches apart, noses almost brushing.

"I thought you weren't feeling hormonal," Hope murmured, voice low and rough with anticipation.

Nova gave a lazy, seductive smile, pressing her forehead against Hope's. "Maybe it's just that I'm always horny for you." 🔥💋👀

Their lips met—slow at first, but full of heat. Hope's hands slid up Nova's thighs, resting at her hips. Nova's body pressed closer, and she could feel Hope's magic stirring beneath her skin, warm and grounding.

They kissed again, more desperate this time, breath mingling, fingers tangling in each other's clothes and hair. Nova gasped softly when Hope rolled her hips up, and Hope answered with a low growl that vibrated against Nova's mouth.

It didn't go further—not yet. But the promise hung in the air, thick and electric.

Nova buried her face in Hope's neck, panting softly, letting herself linger in the space where want met safety.

"I needed this," she whispered, voice hoarse. "I need you."

Hope ran her fingers through Nova's hair, pressing a kiss to her temple. "You've got me, Hale. For good."

They lay tangled on the bed, limbs warm and hearts racing, finally closer than ever. 💓🛏️💫
