Chapter 4: CHAPTER FOUR
Lyra was running for her life, her heart pounding in her chest. She had earlier been chased by Jax and Sasha, for what felt like hours and she was getting tired of running. Just when she thought she couldn't run further, she approached groove street, the thought of running into Kiara's place flashed in her mind but she wouldn't want to disturb their household this late hours, she didn't bother because running in there will do nothing but endanger her friend and Kiara's family. As she Made up her mind, she saw an entrance to a basement, without thinking twice, she jumped over the pavement and ran into the dark basement with the hope of losing her pursuers.
As she was trying to catch her breath in the basement that had little illumination. Lyra came back to her initial sadness, she had been on the run for so long, she have never been able to find a place to stay for long. She wished her parents were there to help het and the thought of what could have happened to them swirled in her mind. Tears dropped from the corner of her eyes as she whipped her and her face with her clothes.
Lyra didn't have time to run through her emotions, footsteps approached towards the entrance of the basement. It was becoming louder, Jax and Sasha found her. Panic spined in her head and she aimlessly looked around for an excape route, she saw a small window, partially covered by some Crates.
Without reluctance, Lyra tried to push the crates away from the window but they were too heavy for her to move. With the help of the little lightening, she drifted backwards towards the window, she let's her head out and then she squeezed her waist through the narrow opening and letting her legs out just as as Kieran's Park members reached the basement entrance. She found her self in a narrow dark Alley as she kept running.
"Damn!, that little prick got away" said Sasha as she looked around the basement her eyes blazing with bright yellow. "She must have squeezed her self through this opening" Jax retorted as he discovered the opening. "We need to find her"
"Is she really that slender?, how could she have possibly manage to get out" Sasha said as she observed the opening in the basement. "Are you really interested in finding her or you want to keep wondering how she got out?, I can't stand here and watch a young girl play jerky and Hyde with me " said Max.
"Okay max, let's find the girl then when we get back to your apartment you'd make me a treat" Sasha retorted biting her lower lips. "Why my apartment?, let's stick to catching the whisperer and you better stop sucking at running, you know you're slow right?"
"Well your apartment is the closest restaurant to your bedroom. And about me being slow, I run faster than you dickhead" Sasha retorted as they came to the place where Lyra ran from. Lyra kept running, her legs pounding over the pavement.
"I think she went this way Jax exclaimed as both of them ran towards the direction she went. Jax shifted into a full black wolf while Sasha shifted into a White as they ran to catch up with her. Lyra heard footsteps approaching from behind as she made her into the streets which was illuminated by the street lights of Merida. Some people stood by the road side and she could see anxiety written on their faces, they must have probably lost her loved ones but she felt a surge of hope because she was surrounded by people and her chasers wouldn't dare attack her in the street where people stood out side, Jax and Sasha were tough but not as ruthless as the rest of the Park members; they were the youngest member of the park.
"Hey!, watch where you're going" a stranger shouted as Lyra collided with him.
"Sorry!" She yelled back not slowing down. Jax saw that people were on the street, they shifted back to their human counterpart as they slowed down. Lyra eyes through the faces of the people so that she could loose them. Her eyes scanning the crowded street for refuge, she spotted a van parked along the street next to a battered old Aston Martin. Without thinking twice, she slid under the vehicle, struggling to catch her breath. It wasn't quite long before Jax and Sasha approached the area, their eyes scanning the scene in search of Lyra. The both of the sniffing their nose to track her. Lyra held her mouth as she whimpers softly with her heart beating fast.
"You can't escape baby girl. I'll find you, your grey ass mother and your dickhead father are both dead" Jax taunted her with his low menacing voice. The Van's oil dripped on her as tears dropped from her eyes on hearing that her parents are dead, the engine oil from the van covered her clothes and skin. She felt discomfort as the pungent smell from the engine oil covered her nose.
Lyra heart raced as the footsteps approached, for the first time since the chase she felt she was going to get caught. She remained still, gradually the footsteps receded till she could no longer hear them. The engine oil ended up masking her scent making it harder for them to track her. Just as Lyra thought she was safe, she heard the van's door opened above her as she sees someone's legs stepping out from the vehicle. Lyra held her breath, her heart racing. She began thinking in her mind that her pursuers have finally caught her. Suddenly, a hand came under the van, reaching for her...
