Sherlock/ Moriarty: Blood and Shadows
London, 1888.
Fog slithered through the streets like a living entity, swallowing the gaslight's feeble glow. The air carried the scent of coal smoke, damp stone, and something more sinister—the metallic tang of blood, barely masked by the filth of the city. London was a city of two faces: one bathed in the golden glow of aristocracy, the other rotting beneath the weight of corruption and crime.
And William James Moriarty thrived in both.
---
Seated in the drawing room of an opulent estate, Moriarty idly twirled a glass of red wine, its surface mirroring the flickering candlelight. Across from him sat Lord Ashford, a nobleman whose trembling hands betrayed his composed exterior.
"You have to understand, Professor Moriarty," Ashford stammered, his mustache twitching. "I had no choice! They—"
"A choice always exists," Moriarty interrupted, his voice smooth as silk, yet carrying an undertone of steel. "You simply chose poorly."
Ashford's crime was simple: he had embezzled funds meant for a charity project, pocketing the wealth while the poor starved in the gutters. It was nothing unusual in the circles of nobility, but the problem was that he had crossed paths with the Lord of Crime.
A mistake he wouldn't live to regret.
Moriarty took a slow sip of wine. "What do you think, Albert?"
Albert Moriarty, his older brother, leaned against the fireplace, arms crossed. "The evidence against him is overwhelming. He is beyond redemption."
Louis, their younger brother, stood quietly by the window, watching the dimly lit streets below. "We should make an example of him."
Ashford paled. "P-Please, I have a family—"
Moriarty placed his glass down with a soft clink. "So do the people you stole from."
The clock chimed midnight. The last sound Lord Ashford would ever hear.
---
The body was found the next morning, hanging from Blackfriars Bridge, a symbol carved into his forehead—a silent warning to the corrupt.
The newspapers went wild.
But what intrigued Moriarty wasn't the reaction of London's elite—it was the reaction of a particular detective at 221B Baker Street.
Sherlock Holmes.

Baker Street
A thin stream of smoke curled upward as Sherlock reclined in his armchair, eyes half-lidded in thought. The violin lay untouched beside him, forgotten in the wake of the morning's revelation.
"A staged suicide," he mused. "And an obvious one at that."
Dr. John Watson, seated across from him with his morning tea, raised an eyebrow. "You sound unimpressed."
"Because I am." Sherlock exhaled a thin breath, tapping his fingers against the armrest. "This was deliberate. Too deliberate. The killer wanted the public to see."
Watson frowned. "Moriarty?"
Sherlock's lips twitched into something resembling amusement. "Who else?"
The Lord of Crime had been a phantom presence in London's underbelly for years, orchestrating justice through crime. A paradoxical figure—one who played the role of both executioner and savior.
Sherlock had never met him in person.
But he intended to.

The Streets of London
The city was alive with whispers.
Another noble dead. Another symbol left behind. The people in the dark alleys cheered, while the aristocrats tightened their security. Fear and admiration coiled together, a contradiction that defined Moriarty's reign.
In a dimly lit tavern in Whitechapel, a hooded figure leaned over a bar counter. His voice was barely above a whisper, but the bartender stiffened at his words.
"They're saying it's Moriarty's doing again."
The bartender swallowed hard. "Best not speak of such things."
The hooded man chuckled. "Oh, but I must. You see… I find his work quite fascinating."
He lifted his drink, the candlelight briefly illuminating his face—sharp features, a cruel smile, and eyes that gleamed like a predator's.
Unbeknownst to Sherlock or Moriarty, something far worse than crime was creeping into London's veins.
A shadow neither of them were prepared for.
A shadow with fangs.
