Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Only One
[Limitless Cursed Technique lv2 (1/300): Interferes with atomic-level matter, governs space. The closer objects are to the user, the slower they move, never being able to touch the user.]
A vast amount of information surged into Alex's mind, greatly increasing his proficiency with the Limitless Cursed Technique.
If the original Limitless Cursed Technique had a maximum effective range of about 5 centimeters from the body, the lv2 version doubled this distance to 10 centimeters!
Moreover, because the Limitless Cursed Technique is the foundation for the techniques Cursed Technique Reversal: Red and Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue, their power also received a significant boost. Not only did the release speed increase, but the power also saw a substantial enhancement.
If Alex were to use Cursed Technique Reversal: Red on Abomination now, it would likely penetrate his chest and abdomen directly, rather than blasting him thousands of meters away before doing so.
After negotiating the price for Abomination and Hulk with Nick Fury, Alex waited in place.
During the half-hour he waited, no armed personnel dared to approach him. They only monitored from afar, even the fearless General Ross kept his distance. Through the process of capturing Hulk, Ross had realized the gap between himself and Hulk. Now, facing the even stronger Alex, he wouldn't waste his troops recklessly.
Hidden mutants around the area were immensely excited, fixating on the white-haired figure at the center of the battlefield ruins. To them, he was their god! The god of mutants!
For so long, mutants had been oppressed, subjected to various inhumane experiments in secrecy. Now, they finally stood tall! Merely by standing there, hundreds of fully armed soldiers dared not approach, not even launching missiles, knowing such attacks would be futile and only provoke the white mutant to kill them all!
S.H.I.E.L.D. moved quickly, and soon a Quinjet flew in from a distance, with several familiar agents onboard, led by Agent Coulson. Behind him stood a man holding a bow and arrow, who appeared to be Hawkeye.
Hawkeye looked curiously at the white-haired man in front of him, then glanced around, finally stopping at the massive trench a thousand of meters long. If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, he couldn't have imagined the terrifying power contained within this seemingly frail white-haired man.
Alex ignored Hawkeye and directly addressed Coulson: "Over there are Hulk and Abomination. Take them away, and remember to use adamantium or vibranium to imprison them; otherwise, it's almost impossible to keep them contained."
Coulson watched Alex speak casually, as if selling two ordinary items rather than the formidable Hulk and Abomination, and couldn't help but smile wryly.
The White Mutant was truly terrifying. His appearance undoubtedly disrupted the balance between mutants and ordinary humans. If viewed solely from Earth's perspective, neither he nor Fury would want someone as overwhelmingly powerful as Alex to exist.
However, considering the entire universe, Alex's presence was indispensable! After all, they knew that there were more advanced civilizations out there, and Earth was just a remote corner of the universe, constantly at risk of annihilation!
After finishing his explanation, Alex told Coulson: "Agent Coulson, remember to transfer two hundred million dollars to my account. I'll be leaving now."
Not waiting for Coulson's response, a blue curse energy enveloped Alex's body. With a powerful push from his legs, he leapt to a nearby skyscraper, then used the wall to propel himself further, vanishing in an instant.
Alex wasn't worried about S.H.I.E.L.D. withholding his payment. These agents were smart, and Nick Fury, the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., was even smarter. They wouldn't make such a foolish choice.
As Alex departed, Coulson touched the earpiece to report to Nick Fury. After a moment, he glanced at Hawkeye.
"Agent Barton, what do you think of him?"
Hawkeye continued staring in the direction Alex had gone. The wall where Alex had launched himself was covered in dense, menacing cracks. After a moment of silence following Coulson's question, he said:
"It's hard to imagine that a human can possess such power. His strength is so terrifying it feels unreal. I question the purpose of my decades of training. If I were to fight him, I'd probably be killed instantly without any chance to resist.
My attack style relies mainly on specialized arrows, but the White Mutant's speed is beyond my ability to track. Hitting him with an arrow would be nearly impossible, and even if I could, that defense of his..."
Hawkeye trailed off, but Coulson understood what he was implying: that terrifying defense was impenetrable. Only an attack within the same spatial dimension could break through it, and with current technology, apart from mutants with similar abilities, where could they find a spatial attack?
Coulson patted Hawkeye's shoulder and reassured him: "Don't be discouraged, Agent Barton, you're already very strong. After all, there's only one White Mutant in the world."
"Yes, only one White Mutant..."
…
Reaching the rooftop, Tony was already waiting. Seeing Alex return, Tony curiously circled around him, beams of light shooting from his iron eyes to scan him continuously.
"How did you do it? Facing those two monsters, how did you manage to win so easily? Are you really human?"
Tony Stark finally couldn't resist asking the question.
Alex smiled at Tony and said, "Tony, the world is vast and equally fascinating. Even I am not the strongest. There are many on Earth who surpass me. The Phoenix, the Sorcerer Supreme, and others. You need to broaden your perspective."
"Really?" Tony questioned, but seeing the smile on Alex's face, his expression grew serious.
He finally realized that the world wasn't as simple as he had imagined. If even Alex wasn't the strongest, what kind of power did others possess? The Phoenix, the Sorcerer Supreme... Who were these people, and what kind of formidable abilities did they have? Wait, a sorcerer?
"Are you saying there are sorcerers on Earth, those who can cast spells?"
"Of course."
Tony was shocked again, then he recalled Alex's previous words, "You said you aren't their match now, but will you win in the future? Or will you lose?"
"Nah, I'd win."
Just like Satoru Gojo, Alex had the same confidence. However, with the system on his side, Alex was destined to have a different outcome than Gojo.
He!
Alex!
Would not be cut in half!
Meanwhile, Coulson, transporting Dr. Banner and Abomination back to the Helicarrier, received new orders from Nick Fury through his earpiece.
"A strange crater has appeared in New Mexico, with a hammer resting in the center that no one can lift. Agent Coulson, you are tasked with investigating this hammer. After this mission, you will definitely get some time off."
Coulson, touching his thinning hair, hung up and sighed, "Director Fury, you've already said that many times already."
