Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Overlooking
On a distant helicopter, several scientists in white lab coats were frantically recording the valuable data they had just observed. These data points were crucial weapons against the White Demon in the future and couldn't be lost. The lead researcher dialed a communication line, which was quickly answered by an eager, raspy voice on the other end.
"How did it go?"
The researcher couldn't hide his excitement as he replied, "Colonel Stryker, it worked! The mutant suppression device is effective against the White Mutant. Although it only suppresses him for a few minutes, with improvements, this time can be significantly extended. Soon, we'll be able to turn the White Mutant into an ordinary human for a long period!"
"Good, good, good!" Stryker was overjoyed, a rare stiff smile forming on his usually stoic face. "It seems we won't need to resort to the nuclear plan after all. The mutant suppression device alone will be enough to handle him. Transmit all the data immediately and start developing the suppression device right away!"
"Yes, sir…" But suddenly, the researcher was interrupted by a commotion on the other end of the line.
"What's happening?" Stryker demanded, but what he heard next made his blood run cold.
"Quick, quick, activate the mutant suppression device! We need time to escape! Colonel Stryker… the White Mutant… he is coming after us!"
"What?!" Stryker was stunned, unable to believe what he was hearing. The White Mutant had detected their helicopter from ten kilometers away! What did that mean? It meant the White Mutant's sensory abilities were far beyond what Stryker had imagined, capable of perceiving things at least ten kilometers away. This also meant the nuclear plan was almost entirely doomed to fail because, with his speed, the White Mutant could easily evade any nuclear strike once he detected it from a distance.
Damn it! When did that filth awaken such sensory abilities? Did his powers have no limits?!
"Stay calm and transmit the data. With the suppression device, escaping shouldn't be difficult!" Stryker tried to reassure the scientists, urging them to quickly send over the data on the White Mutant. His main priority was still the data; once he had it, the scientists would no longer be valuable. Still, he believed what he said—the researchers should be able to escape if they could temporarily suppress the stain's powers.
But then, he heard a desperate scream through the earpiece:
"He's stopped five kilometers away! At this distance, the current version of the suppression device won't affect him at all! No, he's attacking us with those strange black-and-red singularities! Aahhh…"
The communication cut off abruptly after a final, agonized scream.
Stryker fell silent. It seemed the filth had discovered the suppression device's existence and was now using his black-and-red singularities to eliminate the researchers from a distance. This also meant that in the future, the White Mutant would be wary of such devices. However, it also confirmed that he was still vulnerable to the suppression device—if his abilities were successfully suppressed, he would no longer be a threat.
As the words "Data Transmission Complete" flashed across the screen before him, Stryker's face twisted into a sinister grin…
Meanwhile, Alex was closing in on the helicopter with lightning speed, using the Cursed Technique: Blue to teleport. Before long, the helicopter reappeared within his sight.
He didn't approach it directly, suspecting that the helicopter might also be equipped with a mutant suppression device. Although he had memorized the energy flow in his body when his powers were suppressed, and could reassert control over it the moment it happened, he still chose not to get too close to the helicopter. He preferred to create a perceived weakness for his enemies to exploit, anticipating their reactions with grim satisfaction.
Alex halted mid-air, about five kilometers away from the helicopter—the maximum effective range of the suppression device, according to his Six Eyes' observations. He extended his hand, bringing his index and middle fingers together, pointing them at the helicopter. Cursed energy surged, and a black-and-red singularity quickly formed before him.
With a slight raise of his fingers, the terrifying singularity shot forward, leaving a visible black-and-red trail in the sky.
The Cursed Technique Reversal: Red ripped through the atmosphere, creating a sonic boom that echoed across New York.
Nearly everyone simultaneously looked up to see a dazzling black streak, like a meteor of death, streaking toward a helpless helicopter!
Boom! Under the watchful eyes of those who could see, the helicopter was instantly shattered by the black meteor, bursting into a tiny ball of flame. The meteor continued its path, tearing through the air, slicing through clouds, and eventually crashing into the wilderness outside the city, raising a massive cloud of dust.
When the dust finally settled, it left behind a huge, round crater.
"It's the White Mutant! It's the White Mutant!" The crowd immediately recognized the most powerful mutant currently dominating the headlines, throwing the entire city into chaos.
"The White Mutant can fly now?! Does that mean there's no limit to the powers of an Omega mutant?!"
"It looks like he's become even stronger!"
"Where's the government? Where's the military? Didn't they say they had a perfect plan to deal with the White Mutant?"
In a spacious warehouse in New York, where the black meteor and the airborne White Mutant could be clearly seen, Polaris stood in stunned silence. The sight before her instantly brought back memories of her previous encounter with the man. Those cold, indifferent eyes exuded an unparalleled sense of oppression. Even though her abilities were among the strongest of mutants, she knew she stood no chance against the White Demon.
His merciless words were etched deeply in her memory, making her realize that mutants would never rise by relying on others—they could only depend on themselves.
As Polaris's companions gasped in awe around her, saying things like, "Look, that's the White Mutant's mutant ability!" and "Wow, how cool! This is the strongest mutant right now!" some even declared, "We need to work hard so we can fight alongside the great leader in future battles against humans! Under his leadership, mutants will finally achieve freedom!"
Polaris hesitated, unsure whether to reveal the harsh truth to her comrades.
In the face of the White Mutant, even though they were all mutants, all the same kind…
To him, they were no different from ordinary humans—mere ants. That man stood in the sky, overlooking everything below.
At the same time, Alex, standing high in the air, heard the system prompt:
