Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Spider-Woman
Breaking out of the gang's prison, Alex used the original's memories to identify his surroundings. As expected, the prison was located in Hell's Kitchen. Confirming his location, Alex rushed in a specific direction.
His mutant identity had been exposed when he awakened, leading to his capture by the authorities. The gang that had captured him wouldn't let him go either. Before killing the gang leader, Alex had learned that these gang members were likely under Kingpin's command. As the underground emperor of New York, Kingpin would never let him off for ruining his business.
Facing pursuit from both sides, increasing his strength was Alex's top priority. The continuous use of the Limitless Technique and two uses of Lapse "Blue" had nearly depleted his energy. If he were to encounter the pursuit squads now, he would have no power to resist.
Rounding a corner, Alex saw a transformer and finally breathed a sigh of relief. Electricity was the easiest energy source he could access, providing the support he needed in the early stages.
The Six Eyes granted Alex extremely precise energy control. He used his energy absorption ability to slowly draw electricity from the transformer, matching his maximum absorption speed.

[Energy Absorption Experience +1]
[Energy Absorption Experience +1]
[Energy Absorption Experience +1]
…
As his energy points steadily increased and his body filled with energy, Alex smiled in satisfaction.
Feeling his energy nearly overflowing, Alex began practicing his newly acquired skills. The abilities granted by the system started at level one and needed continuous practice to improve.
For example, Technique "Blue": the power of Alex's current skill was far from the power Gojo Satoru could unleash. Only by practicing and leveling up the skill could it reach greater potency.
With the system's support, Alex could potentially enhance his skills beyond the template's original capabilities, achieving unprecedented levels of power! Among his current abilities, the Six Eyes didn't directly enhance his strength. Energy Absorption, on the other hand, was the fastest skill to level up with practice. The Limitless Technique's unique nature meant leveling it up would only reduce its consumption, requiring significant levels before it could transform.
So, Alex immediately started practicing Technique "Blue." This skill had immense attack potential, but at its current low level, it could only form a small black hole and was slow. While it could easily crush ordinary people, hitting mutants or other superpowered individuals would be challenging.
With the Six Eyes' help, Alex formed a blue-black hole the size of a ping-pong ball and practiced maneuvering it.
Meanwhile, the system provided prompts:
[Lapse Technique "Blue" Experience +1]
[Lapse Technique "Blue" Experience +1]
[Lapse Technique "Blue" Experience +1]
...
Level 1 skills are easy to upgrade. Alex hid in the power station, continuously absorbing electricity and practicing Lapse Technique: "Blue." After three hours, the system panel prompted:
[ Lapse Technique: "Blue" experience +1]
[ Lapse Technique: "Blue" experience +1]
[ Congratulations, Lapse Technique: "Blue" has leveled up!]
[ Lapse Technique: "Blue" lv2 (1/300): Generates a powerful suction force centered on Blue, with output reaching negative infinity, akin to a small black hole]
At the moment of the upgrade, Alex immediately sensed a surge of information about using Lapse Technique: "Blue" in his mind. Although the skill description hadn't changed much, its power had increased significantly.
Just as Alex was about to test the changes in his upgraded skill, he suddenly heard the sound of a gun being cocked behind him.
"Hey, you unlucky guy over there, hand over all your money, or you'll taste my bullets!"
Through the Six Eyes, Alex had already sensed the man approaching from behind and had activated the Limitless Technique.
He turned around unhurriedly. A shabby middle-aged man was pointing a handgun at him, clearly intending to rob him, the American way.
The middle-aged man had come around hoping to get lucky and was delighted to find a potential victim.
He quickly stepped forward, cocked his gun, and demanded that Alex hand over all his money.
Initially, the man planned to take the money and leave immediately. However, upon seeing Alex's appearance, he hesitated, then licked his lips and leered.
"I've changed my mind. Not only are you going to hand over your money, but you're also going to face the wall and put your hands up!"
Hearing the shabby man's words, Alex could no longer tolerate it. He had initially intended to use this man to test his newly upgraded skills, but now he decided to end it quickly.
Just as Alex was about to unleash Technique: "Blue," a sudden, violent whistling sound came from the side.
Then, a figure wearing a black and white tight suit, with a hood, and a graceful, well-proportioned body swung over from afar using spider webs, kicking the shabby middle-aged man into the air. During his flight, several spider webs caught up to him, wrapping him up and hanging him on a nearby streetlight.
The hooded girl clung to the wall of a building, one side of her body naturally hanging down, and said to Alex:
"Sir, are you alright? No need to thank me. I'm New York's friendly neighbor, Spider-Woman!"
Spider-Woman.
Upon seeing this figure, Alex immediately recognized her. Isn't this Gwen Stacy? Why isn't it Spider-Man? Could this world be some unknown parallel universe instead of the movie universe?
As Alex pondered this, Gwen, seeing that Alex did not respond, became a bit worried. Could he be injured? Upon closer inspection, she indeed found that this man was covered in various wounds, though most had healed, they still looked gruesome.
She continued:
"Sir, you're injured. Do you need me to take you to the hospital?"
Alex had a favorable impression of Gwen. When watching Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, he had developed a liking for this brave and strong Spider-Woman.
"No, no, I'm fine."
"But..."
Seeing Alex refuse her help, Gwen wanted to say something more, but her spider-sense kicked in!
Danger!
She instinctively tried to grab the man in front of her and take him to safety, but as she swung away on her webs, she suddenly realized she hadn't managed to grab him!
What's going on!?
Then she heard the sound of walls breaking and a building collapsing.
"Oh, damn it!"
Seeing the enormous Lizard completely destroy the power station, Gwen didn't think the man could have survived the Lizard's attack.
Due to her negligence, an innocent man had died. He looked so young, only a few years older than her..
