Chapter 12: Chapter 11: Geto’s Gift – Mangekyō Sharingan
Inside Geto's Hideout
In the quiet corridors, Suguru Geto yawned and stretched his arms lazily.
Beside him, Shion clutched a stack of documents. She hesitated several times before finally speaking.
"Lord Geto… are you sure about this?"
She had seen the details—the contents of the cursed spirit offering.
It wasn't just third- and fourth-grade curses. There were dozens of semi-second-grade and even fully developed second-grade curses in the mix.
This wasn't just a simple test.
This was an army of curses—the kind that could even give a semi-first-grade sorcerer trouble.
And yet, Geto was just handing them over to let Ryuu slaughter them freely and devour their power.
"Relax," Geto replied, stretching again. "This much isn't a big deal. Don't underestimate my cursed energy reserves."
"And besides…" He grinned. "Don't you think this is fun?"
"I don't think so."
Shion shook her head, keeping a rational tone.
"From what he's said, I don't think Ryuu intends to join us. This seems like a waste of resources."
"True."
Geto sighed, then his eyes sharpened.
"But let's just wait and see. Eyes that can evolve… might yield unexpected results."
---
"Ah! There you are!"
A clear, excited voice echoed from the corridor.
Two girls rounded the corner, running toward Geto.
One had wild, unruly blonde hair, her expression playful as ever.
The other was more reserved, a quiet black-haired girl who carried herself with composure.
Nanako and Mimiko.
Geto's adopted daughters—his most trusted girls.
"What brings you two here?" Geto asked, his tone far gentler than usual.
"I heard you were meeting a sorcerer," Nanako grinned. "As a high school girl, I had to come check it out!"
"Is he any good?" Mimiko asked curiously.
"Pfft—who cares?" Nanako scoffed. "No way he's stronger than you, Lord Geto!"
"Obviously!" Mimiko nodded confidently.
Geto chuckled at their unwavering trust in him.
"How long has it been?" Geto asked Shion.
"Half an hour."
Arms crossed, Geto turned his gaze toward the arena where Ryuu was training.
...It's already been 30 minutes?
And yet, the curses are still being consumed.
Geto frowned slightly.
He could feel the connection between himself and his cursed spirits breaking, one after another.
That means Ryuu is still devouring them.
This confirms it—his eyes are anything but ordinary.
BOOM.
A sudden eruption of pure, overwhelming cursed energy blasted out from the arena.
A dark and oppressive aura surged outward, making hearts tremble.
"Wha—?!"
Nanako, Mimiko, and Shion visibly flinched.
Cold sweat dripped down their temples, their eyes wide with disbelief.
"T-That cursed energy…!"
"It's stronger than any of Lord Geto's curses!"
They had never felt anything like this before.
Meanwhile, Geto's reaction was different.
His eyes widened—then he laughed.
"Incredible!"
In just an instant, every remaining cursed spirit in the arena had been wiped out.
Shion and the girls were still frozen in shock when a figure stepped out of the courtyard.
Ryuu.
His presence was completely transformed.
A new power pulsed through his body.
"You really are something, Ryuu-kun."
Geto clapped as he approached.
Ryuu was still adjusting to the massive surge of energy inside him.
The cursed energy flowing through his eyes felt vastly different from before.
He couldn't hide his excitement.
"...I owe you for this, Geto."
For once, Geto didn't brush it off with some line about sorcerers being family.
Instead, his eyes gleamed with genuine interest.
"Want to test it out?"
At first, Ryuu considered declining.
But then—
He saw the way Geto's eyes slowly opened, revealing a serious glint.
This wasn't a casual suggestion.
Geto wanted to see for himself.
Fine.
"Alright," Ryuu smirked. "Let's do it."
...
With Geto leading the way, the two arrived at the deserted mountains behind the hideout.
The moment Geto dropped the tent, the atmosphere shifted.
Ryuu stood still, staring at the sorcerer before him.
Suguru Geto.
One of the strongest sorcerers alive.
A huge wave of cursed energy began to surge from Ryuu's body.
His deep black pupils shifted.
In an instant, his Sharingan activated—blood-red eyes spinning with newfound power.
The three tomoe rotated, then merged together, forming a shuriken-shaped pattern.
The Mangekyō Sharingan had awakened.
At that moment, the oppressive aura from earlier surged once more.
Facing this, Geto finally moved.
A dark, swirling black mist formed beside him, expanding like a void.
Then—
Cursed spirits crawled out.
Each one was at least second-grade, and unlike before, these weren't just fodder.
These were warriors.
Ryuu narrowed his eyes.
"...These are no threat to me now."
Amaterasu.
His eyes flashed.
A black flame ignited on one of the cursed spirits—consuming it instantly.
Its body turned to black smoke before it even had the chance to scream.
Geto stood back, observing closely.
The last time Ryuu fought a second-grade cursed spirit, he had struggled.
Now?
He was burning them away like nothing.
"...Interesting," Geto murmured.
Then—he smiled.
"Alright then… let's make this fun."
With a wave of his hand—
Every cursed spirit in the area charged at Ryuu.
---
Ryuu's Amaterasu flames didn't vanish.
Instead, they expanded—forming a black tornado of fire around him.
Cursed spirits threw themselves at him, but the moment they touched the flames—
They disintegrated.
"Not bad," Ryuu muttered.
"But let's try something else."
He deactivated Amaterasu—just in time for a massive cursed worm to erupt from the ground.
It was over ten meters tall—its gaping maw lunging straight for him.
Perfect.
Susanoo.
A surge of raw power exploded from his eyes.
A colossal blue skeleton materialized around him—its massive bony hand grabbing the worm mid-air.
BOOM.
The cursed spirit was launched across the mountain, crashing into a hill in a cloud of dust.
From a distance, Geto grinned.
"That's right, Ryuu-kun…"
He spread his arms.
"Now show me more."
