Chapter 20: Chapter 19: The Unlucky Traveler
Whitebeard was sitting on the Moby Dick when, out of nowhere, he found himself invited to some kind of chat group. Even though his body was slowly weakening with age, he was still the strongest force in the world. His advanced Observation Haki should have detected anything unusual—but he didn't sense a thing!
"Who are you? Has a new challenger appeared on the seas? Hahaha! Come, let me test your strength!"
As he spoke, a powerful wave of Haki burst from his body.
The crew on the ship rushed over, looking tense.
"What's wrong, Pops? Did you sense an enemy?"
Whitebeard shook his head.
"No enemies, but I suddenly heard a voice in my head. It might be the power of a new Devil Fruit user."
Just then, Yang Tao spoke up.
"This is the Multiverse Chat Group. Every member here comes from a different world. This place allows people to help each other and exchange knowledge. There's also a store where you can buy anything as long as you have points. Right now, the only way to earn points is by signing in. You can try it out."
Ash from the group chimed in.
"Hey everyone! I'm Ash from Pallet Town. Nice to meet you all!"
This was the ultimate newbie from the Pokémon world, a guy who got electrocuted by Pikachu daily and was somehow fine. His defense level was practically that of a pseudo-legendary Pokémon!
"Who are you all? I greet you with respect!" Ning Caichen introduced himself politely.
Zhang Wenjing jumped in excitedly.
"Wow! It's the Undead 'Knight' Ning Caichen! And the Snake-Slaying Arhat Xu Hanwen! Hey, group leader, are you jealous?"
Yang Tao was taking a sip of milk when he saw the message and nearly spat it out.
"Wow! It's the Undead 'Knight' Ning Caichen! And the Snake-Slaying Arhat Xu Hanwen! Hey, group leader, are you jealous?"
Yang Tao was taking a sip of milk when he saw the message and nearly spat it out.
"These two legends have had their stories told across countless worlds and have influenced many dimensions! I wouldn't dare compare myself to them!"
Xu Xian also spoke up.
"Greetings, everyone! Are you referring to me as the Snake-Slaying Arhat? I'm just an ordinary man—how could I possibly deserve such a title? Please don't joke with me!"
Ren Fa joined in.
"You definitely deserve it! Your snake-slaying skills will be remembered for generations! Unlike me, I'm currently buried underground in a coffin. Can someone help me out?"
So, this guy was a traveler too. But what bad luck—he didn't just become Ren Fa, who turned into a zombie, but he was also buried alive.
Buried? But in the story, didn't he get bitten by Old Master Ren and then cremated?
"Wait, weren't you supposed to be burned after becoming a zombie?"
Ren Fa awkwardly explained.
"Before I traveled, my name was Ren Fa, but after arriving in this world, I ended up inside Old Master Ren's body!"
Yang Tao was speechless.
"Are you messing with me? This is like that running joke where a whole family has the same name!"
"Ren Fa, do you know how long you've been buried? Is Uncle Nine about to dig you up?"
Ren Fa sighed.
"No idea! I only know that I've traveled to Uncle Nine's world and ended up in Ren Fa's body. That's it. Now I've become a zombie, but I'm at the lowest level—completely stiff, can't even bend my arms, and I can't dig my way out. If I still needed to eat or breathe, I'd have starved to death by now!"
Yang Tao sighed.
"So, what's your plan? You want to wait around for some random Taoist to come and exorcise you, or do you want Uncle Nine to take you down in one move? If I were you, I'd at least stay put until I reached the 'Flying Zombie' level. Even if someone dug me up, I wouldn't come out yet. Don't forget that Taoist whose grave you took over—he definitely had a backup plan for dealing with you."
Ren Fa groaned.
"I didn't have a choice! I was stuck alone in this coffin for so long—it was too boring! But now it's fine. At least I have this chat group to pass the time. The problem is, I don't have any techniques, and just absorbing the ambient energy is too slow. After all this time, I've only managed to refine my face. At least I can make scary expressions now!"
"What the hell? You focused on refining your face first instead of your arms or throat? Go check the group's shared files—maybe there's a technique that suits you. If not, you'll just have to save up points and buy one."
Ning Caichen was puzzled.
"Wait, Ren Fa is a zombie? Does that mean everyone here is some kind of ghost or monster? Also, why do I have the title 'Undead Knight'? Group leader, could you explain?"
This was all Zhang Wenjing's fault! Yang Tao felt awkward and didn't know how to respond.
The only solution was to ask Zhang Wenjing and the newly arrived Ren Fa if anyone had details about their worlds so they could upload the storylines for reference.
