Chapter 39: Chapter 38: The Ancient One
"The Ancient One? You ran into her?" Yang Tao was surprised. In Tony's timeline, the Ancient One shouldn't have appeared yet—she should still be preparing for her successor.
"I knew you knew her! But no, I didn't run into her—she came looking for me!" Tony gave him a look, as if he had been keeping secrets.
"That's weird. You haven't done anything that threatens Earth, so why would she look for you?" Yang Tao muttered to himself.
"What did she want from you? Oh, right—I only uploaded the movies where you're the main character. But there are way too many main characters in your world! Hold on, I'll upload the rest!"
[The group owner uploaded the Marvel Cinematic Universe storyline. Since someone received points for this universe before, there won't be any rewards this time.]
Tony couldn't believe what he was hearing—there were other movies, and someone else was the main character? "Are you telling me that I'm not the only genius, smart, and rich protagonist? There's no way these movies sold well!"
Ren Fa chimed in, "Well, you're definitely the most narcissistic! There's a lot of content in the Marvel Universe. You're the main character, but you're not the only one."
Yang Tao said, "Let's not spoil anything. Everyone, let's watch the Marvel movies first. We still have some time before lunch, so let's kill some time. Tony, since it's your universe, you do the projection. We'll all watch together!"
Tony, looking frustrated, sat on the couch and opened a screen that only group members could see. Everyone gathered around.
"We got new movies to watch! And it's my favorite—superhero movies!" Naruto was excited. He really liked Marvel's sci-fi films.
Tony was speechless. Naruto wasn't wrong—these were movies, but they were also his life.
…
Time passed quickly. By noon, everyone was eating while discussing the movie's plot.
"I never expected this… Tony, you're actually such a great person!" Ash sighed after watching *Endgame*.
No one had expected Tony to sacrifice himself to save the world in the end.
"The first time I saw this, I thought they just wrote Tony off because his actor's paycheck was too high! There's no way the snap would've had such bad consequences if Captain Marvel had done it instead," Ren Fa joked.
"Well, obviously. The Ancient One was also written out! Sure, she died in the comics too, but that's a different story. In the comics, she didn't exactly die—she ascended and went to observe the multiverse with Vishanti, the god of magic."
"The Ancient One must've just quit! With her abilities and the Time Stone, I don't see how she could've lost. Even if she had to die, it shouldn't have been at the hands of her dumb apprentice," Yang Tao said angrily. He had always liked the Ancient One. Even though she was called a sorcerer, she fought like a warrior. And she looked awesome doing it!
Meanwhile, Tony, the subject of their discussion, was deep in thought after watching the movie.
"Tony! Tony! Are you okay? Don't worry, since you've joined the chat group, you won't have to sacrifice yourself!" Zhang Wenjing called out, thinking Tony was shaken after watching his own death.
Tony snapped out of his thoughts and forced a smile. "I wasn't thinking about the snap. I was thinking about something else."
He stood up and continued, "Even before the Ancient One came to me, I had a feeling my enemies wouldn't be that simple."
"Now that I've seen the whole storyline, I realize just how dangerous my world really is. Even knowing the plot, there's still so much I can't prevent. That sense of helplessness is terrifying."
Whitebeard patted Tony's shoulder. "Don't worry! If you ever need my help, just say the word. I'd love to fight strong opponents from other worlds!"
Seeing this, the others also said they were willing to help.
