Chapter 41: Chapter 40: The Drawing Sword Upgrade Plan
In the world of *Drawing Sword*.
With a buzzing sound, space was sliced open, and Yang Tao stepped out from within.
"This is so much better than my world's portal. Just a couple of steps, and I'm here already!" Yang Tao felt like he had simply walked through a dark doorway and instantly arrived at Li Yunlong's place.
Seeing Yang Tao appear, Li Yunlong quickly walked up and grabbed his hand. "Thank you for coming to help us, Group Leader. On behalf of the people, I thank you!" He was even putting on a playful 'leader inspecting the troops' act.
Yang Tao laughed. "No need to be so polite. We're all family." He put extra emphasis on the word "family."
Li Yunlong was a smart man. He knew the general situation of Yang Tao's world before they traveled here, but he never made any demands—at most, he would make requests or trade offers.
Nodding, Li Yunlong said, "Exactly, we're all on the same side, no need for formalities."
"I came this time to set up some machines for you. By the way, how are your workers?"
Hearing Yang Tao mention workers, Li Yunlong's face darkened. "We have plenty of people, but no workers. Right now, anyone who knows how to operate machinery is extremely valuable. Those willing to work for the army are even rarer—most of them are at headquarters."
Yang Tao had expected this. He understood the current situation. In this era, there was no shortage of hardworking people, but skilled workers were scarce. Plus, the treatment here definitely wasn't as good as in the Nationalist army. But if there were no workers, he would just have to train them himself.
Modern machines were easy to operate. With an assembly line, each person would only need to handle one step, which made things much simpler.
"No problem. Gather some people, and I'll arrange training for them. It might take a while, but make sure to pick trustworthy ones."
"That's easy! I'll select young, sharp-minded soldiers from the army and have them sign a military pledge."
Yang Tao nodded. There was no other way. "Find me a place to set up the factory. Somewhere convenient—I plan to build it underground."
If the factory could be underground, that made things much easier. Still, it had to be in a low-profile area with few people around. Otherwise, the Japanese planes weren't blind. If too many people came and went, it would definitely raise suspicion.
"I can arrange the exits anywhere you want. You just pick the location."
Li Yunlong thought for a moment, then suddenly said, "Boss, I plan to let the higher-ups know about some of this. If we really want to change things, we have to unite everyone we can. The weapons we got before—I already handed them over to headquarters, saying they were bought from a foreign arms dealer. They didn't believe me, but they couldn't find any proof otherwise. This is the perfect chance to come clean about some things and let the top brass figure out a plan!"
"I don't mind. You can inform your commander. After all, this is your world. You make the decisions. I'm just here to help."
Yang Tao agreed with Li Yunlong. No matter how much he helped, in the end, they had to save themselves.
"Guard! Guard!" Li Yunlong shouted.
A soldier in a gray uniform ran inside and saluted.
"Commander, Guard Wang Ersheng reporting for duty!"
He glanced at Yang Tao, confused. He had been guarding the courtyard the whole time and hadn't seen anyone enter. So where had this man suddenly come from? But judging by the commander's reaction, this person clearly wasn't an enemy.
"Go find Commissar Zhao and Zhang Dabiao for me!"
"Yes, sir!" The guard turned and ran out.
