Multiverse: Becoming a Giant of Light, Godslayer from the Start

Chapter 214: "212: News of the Heretic God"

Having successfully slain Siegfried, Su Mo invoked the Authority of Mithra and dispersed the lingering solar arrow storm above. The divine boar was also recalled. But due to the chaotic aftermath of the battle, the original summoning circle had been completely destroyed. Doni had also run off during the fight to escape the firestorm.

It seemed that for now, summoning another heretic god was off the table. Not that Su Mo was in any hurry. The materials for the summoning ritual weren't particularly rare. Rebuilding the circle would be simple.

All he needed was Doni—the key catalyst.

There was still another Authority hidden within him that Su Mo hadn't extracted yet. The others didn't interest him much, but [Ripping Silver Arm]... that one was different. A sword that could cut through even concepts—its power clearly surpassed the raw might of Su Mo's normal swordsmanship. As an offensive Authority, it was unquestionably top-tier.

However—

When Su Mo finally tracked Doni down, he found the self-proclaimed King of Swords being scolded by someone. And for someone to be scolding a god-slayer? That could only be someone very close.

The man dressed in knight's attire was likely Doni's old friend from before he became a god-slayer. His trusted retainer—

—Andrea.

"You absolute idiot!"

"The new King had already agreed to duel you! The venue was set, the area was cleared, the crowd was evacuated—everything was ready!"

"And you, you moron, you jumped straight out of the plane without checking anything!"

"You have any idea how panicked the flight crew was at the time?"

"Even if you're a god-slayer, walking out of the ocean like a dumbass—there's really no one else who'd pull something that insane!"

"And fine, it's one thing if you want to suffer the consequences."

"But do you have any idea how much we had to go through?"

"We finally met a new King who's actually reasonable, who even considered the impact on civilians. Despite being exhausted from slaying a god, he went out of his way to choose the soonest possible time to meet you."

"I was just about to confirm the duel... and then you went completely dark!?"

"Showing up late is one thing when it's us, but pulling that stunt with someone of equal status? That's outright disrespectful!" The so-called King of Swords, Doni, was getting completely chewed out.

Andre had only just arrived after receiving intelligence from the magic associations. When he heard the tremors on the island, he'd assumed Doni was already fighting the new King. But what he saw upon arrival was Doni... sitting down and having lunch. Members of the association were even preparing his meal.

Furious from everything that had happened, Andre immediately began scolding the ever-unreliable god-slayer. Doni, however, simply buried his face in his food, letting the tirade pass over him. Say whatever you want. Whether I listen or not is another matter.

Still, when Andre brought up a certain point, Doni finally couldn't hold back.

"Wait a minute. I gotta object to this whole 'new King is easy to deal with' thing."

"Say what you want about the rest, but my dear friend Su Mo? There's no way he's the kind of guy who's easygoing!"

"In fact, I'd say he's even better than me at causing trouble!"

Sure, Doni could admit fault in other areas. Andre was right—he had made a mess of things. Had he known Su Mo was willing to accept the challenge, he wouldn't have needed to leap out of a plane or crawl through the seafloor. But when it came to Andre's judgment of Su Mo? That was going too far.

All that talk about being tired after slaying a god? Utter nonsense. From Su Mo's strength alone—not to mention casually summoning nine suns—he was clearly in peak condition. Not only that, "easy to deal with" didn't begin to describe him.

Doni figured that he might be able to destroy a city at most. But if Su Mo's attacks had all landed? He could have easily sunk an entire island—or even triggered a tsunami capable of drowning coastal cities.

And then there was that divine summoning ritual Su Mo had unveiled.

That alone could draw every god-slayer like moths to a flame. It was the kind of thing that could ignite global chaos. Even just by wielding that ritual, Su Mo had enough leverage to throw the whole world into disarray.

Compared to that, the messes Doni caused were minor cleanup jobs for the magic associations. Su Mo's antics? Even the god-slayers might not be able to contain them. Actually, no—Su Mo had the potential to gather all god-slayers and create a catastrophe of cosmic proportions. That level of chaos was completely on another tier. Neither he, nor the Marquis Voban, nor Lady Aisha could compare.

That was why Doni, in his usual blunt honesty, stated his opinion directly:

"Don't be fooled by Su Mo's calm exterior. When that guy does decide to stir things up, it's absolutely—"

Just as he was getting to the punchline, Andre suddenly cut him off.

"Ahaha! Hey, Doni, looks like you've still got some seaweed in your hair. Let me get that for you!" Laughing awkwardly, Andre tried to change the subject, all while signaling with his eyes. Unfortunately, Doni didn't pick up on the cue.

"What? Seaweed? That stuff should've burned off long ago."

"Besides, that's not important. What matters is that Su Mo's chaos-making potential is absolutely—"

He stopped mid-sentence, instinct warning him—someone was behind him. Doni whipped around. And there stood Su Mo.

"My chaos-making potential is absolutely... what?" With a mild, almost friendly smile curling at the corners of his mouth, Su Mo asked the question gently.

"Go on, I'm listening. Don't let me stop you." This... was the textbook example of getting caught red-handed talking behind someone's back.

Doni didn't think he was wrong, of course. But looking at Su Mo's nuclear-kind smile, he also knew—if he really kept talking, he was going to get burned by solar fire again. So, his brain shifted into overdrive.

"Absolutely... aligned with the core values of socialism!" He declared with righteous conviction.

"My dear friend! No one understands you better than I do! You? Trouble? Never! Not even possible! Absolutely, positively not!" Andre, watching Doni's lightning-fast reversal, silently confirmed what he'd already guessed. This person was undoubtedly the new King.

"Knight Andre, at your service, Your Majesty." He bowed to Su Mo.

Only after greeting him did he realize Doni's behavior was a bit too out of character. If even this stubborn idiot was playing nice, then it must've been a real lesson learned. Noticing the marks on Doni's body, Andre asked tentatively:

"I heard in the reports... you already fought the new King?"

"Yeah, that's right." Doni nodded with a sigh. "A total defeat."

He had been crushed. His martial skill was outmatched, his magic sword sealed, and his [Man of Steel] completely countered by the sun. Victory had never been an option.

"You lost that badly?" Andre was genuinely surprised.

He knew Doni wasn't the type to exaggerate. If he called it a complete loss, then the gap must have been massive. But Su Mo was supposed to be a rookie god-slayer. And yet he'd utterly overwhelmed a veteran like Doni?

That would put his strength on par with established titans like the Marquis Voban or the Taoist Lord Luo Hao. A shocking revelation, no doubt. But then again, Andre had seen the Ten Suns rise with his own eyes from the plane earlier. If Su Mo could really summon something like that, then perhaps his strength was on that level. While Andre was still processing the shock, Su Mo let Doni off the hook and turned to him.

"Come with me. To the beach." He didn't explain further, but Doni understood. Another heretic god summoning. Normally, he'd be thrilled at the chance. Regardless of who performed the ritual, he'd have the opportunity to jump in and steal the kill.

But when Su Mo summoned a heretic god? Things were different. Because of the covenant between them, Doni couldn't intervene at all. All he could do was stand there and watch. That was just too much to bear. So, he voiced his complaint.

"If you've got extra heretic gods... can't you toss one to me, dear friend?" Watching Su Mo casually slay two rogue gods right in front of him, Doni was practically drooling with envy. If not for that blasted contract...

His greatsword was already itching for action. But in response to his request, Su Mo gave him a glance and immediately shook his head.

"No."

"You're helping me summon heretic gods because you lost. It's part of the contract you agreed to in exchange for your life."

"And since it's a contract, it must be honored."

"I have no reason to hand over my prey to you." Upon hearing that, Doni—who had more or less expected this outcome—still couldn't help but look disappointed.

"Not even one?" He looked at Su Mo with a pitiful expression.

Seeing this, Andre covered his face in shame. You're embarrassing every god-slayer alive right now, Doni. Still, considering this was about heretic gods, this reaction was understandable. Only those who are free of desire can remain truly unshaken. When asking a favor, humility was necessary.

In fact, if the Marquis Voban or Lord Luo Hao were in Doni's place—and knew someone could summon heretic gods they couldn't defeat—they would probably act just as deferential. Watching Doni's reaction, Su Mo thought for a moment. It seemed like there was a way to make this work.

"Come to think of it, I actually can offer you intel on a heretic god."

"I guarantee this one is particularly powerful."

"But this information won't come free."

"You get what I'm saying, right?"
