Multiverse Chat Group: My Abstract System is Too Overpowered

Chapter 58: Chapter 58: World Collision and the Emergence of Demons

After finishing his meal, Victor had originally planned to return home immediately and resume his cultivation practice. He could have used his spiritual energy to teleport back directly, but instead, he decided to take a leisurely stroll through the city streets, enjoying this rare moment of relaxation while admiring the vibrant lights of the urban night scene.

The colorful neon signs and bustling crowds provided a peaceful contrast to the intense training that had consumed most of his recent days. There was something deeply satisfying about watching ordinary human life continue its natural rhythm, people heading home from work, couples sharing a late dinner, students rushing to catch the last trains.

"Hmm? The smell of blood?"

After leaving the busy business district and entering the quieter residential area, Victor's enhanced senses immediately detected a strong metallic odor wafting through the evening air. His cultivation had sharpened his perception far beyond human norms, and this particular scent was unmistakably fresh blood.

Moreover, it wasn't animal blood, but human blood.

Is someone hurt? he wondered, his relaxed mood instantly turning to alertness.

Victor immediately expanded his spiritual consciousness, his awareness spreading outward like an invisible net until it encompassed everything within a kilometer's radius. Through this heightened perception, he could feel the life force of every living thing in the area, from sleeping cats to night shift workers heading home.

Within moments, he detected something deeply disturbing in a narrow alley several hundred yards to the southeast.

What he observed through his spiritual senses defied any rational explanation.

A humanoid creature with coal-black skin, curved horns protruding from its skull, razor-sharp fangs, and viciously curved claws was crouched on the ground. Around it lay the mutilated bodies of ten human males, and the creature was systematically devouring their flesh with a savage, animalistic hunger.

What on earth is this thing?

After the initial shock wore off, Victor found himself overwhelmed with questions and confusion. How could such a monstrous being exist in this world? Shouldn't this be an ordinary, everyday reality without any supernatural elements?

Could it be that there was a hidden supernatural side to this world that he had never encountered before?

No, he thought grimly. I am sure this world was nothing more than a mundane modern setting when I first arrived. Or at least it should have been.

Driven by curiosity and concern for public safety, Victor immediately used his movement technique to cover the hundreds of meters between his position and the alley in the blink of an eye. He materialized silently behind the feeding creature, like a phantom emerging from the shadows.

As if sensing an unfamiliar scent in the air, the monster stopped its gruesome meal and slowly turned to face Victor. Its eyes glowed with a malevolent crimson light, and thick streams of human blood dripped from its mouth.

"RAAAARGH!"

The creature let out a bone-chilling roar and immediately lunged at Victor with surprising speed, its claws outstretched and ready to rip him apart.

Without hesitation, Victor drew an ordinary steel sword from his spatial storage and executed what appeared to be a simple downward slash.

The attacking monster suddenly dropped to its knees in the middle of the attack and slid across the pavement until it came to rest directly in front of Victor. Its arms were raised high above its head in the classic pose of trying to catch a blade with its bare hands, a helpless position that left it completely vulnerable.

"What exactly are you?" Victor asked, his voice calm despite the grotesque scene surrounding them.

The creature did not answer with words, but continued to emit low, animalistic growls and snarls. Its eyes showed no intelligence, only primal hunger and rage.

"You cannot speak? Or do you not understand human language at all?"

Victor studied the kneeling monster with growing fascination. Its behavior suggested that it possessed a certain amount of cunning, after all, it had managed to ambush and kill ten humans, but its current state indicated little more than bestial instinct.

"In that case, there's no point in keeping you alive."

Without further ado, Victor delivered a casual palm strike to the creature's hideous face. The impact was devastating, the entire head exploding like an overripe watermelon hit with a sledgehammer, sending chunks of blackish-red blood and brain matter splattering across the surrounding brick walls.

Having lost its head, the monster's body collapsed limply to the ground, twitching briefly before going completely still.

"That weak?"

Victor was genuinely surprised at how little strength had been required. He had used only a fraction of his true strength, yet the creature's defenses were apparently no greater than those of an ordinary human. Whatever its supernatural origin, its physical durability was remarkably poor.

"System, do you recognize what this creature was?"

[Answer: Host, this was the lowest level of demon, an ordinary ogre].

"Demons? There are demons in this world?"

The revelation hit Victor like a thunderbolt. Once again, he felt his basic understanding of reality crumble, just as it had when he first encountered Erina Nakiri and discovered the existence of supernatural abilities in what he had assumed was a completely mundane world.

[Correction: Host, you are mistaken. This world remains an ordinary reality with no inherent supernatural powers. There are no native demons here. This particular ogre is from another world altogether."]

"How could a creature from another world appear here?" Victor's confusion only deepened with the system's explanation.

[After extensive analysis, it has been determined that the current world has collided with another dimension. Following this collision, the boundary walls between the two realities have begun to merge, creating intermittent passages that connect the two worlds. This ogre must have crossed through one of these dimensional portals.]

The implications were staggering. Victor began to grasp the magnitude of what was happening.

[In addition, the fusion of these boundary walls appears to be irreversible. Over time, the frequency and magnitude of interdimensional passage will continue to increase. Eventually, this process may lead to the complete merging of the two worlds.]

[If you want to prevent this outcome, you would need to advance your cultivation to at least the Nascent Soul stage.]

A slight smile played on Victor's lips as he considered this information. "Why would I want to stop something so entertaining?"

"Wouldn't it be wonderful to inject some excitement and vitality into this dull, mundane world?"

[...]

As expected of my host, the system thought to itself. He has perfectly inherited my love of chaos and interesting complications.

Victor left the alley with a spring in his step, full of anticipation for the adventures and challenges the future might bring.

About thirty minutes after Victor's departure, several black sedans arrived on the scene. From these vehicles emerged a group of stern-faced men and women dressed in matching black suits and wearing sunglasses despite the late hour, clearly some form of government or military operation.

Witnessing the carnage in the alley, one of the male agents cursed under his breath. "Damn, we're late again."

"Even though we missed the incident, at least the ogre has been eliminated. That's good news," replied the team leader, a sharp-eyed woman who immediately knelt down beside the headless creature to examine it more closely.

"The head has been completely destroyed by some kind of violent impact," she observed analytically. "Check the surrounding area for any additional evidence or clues."

"Also, check any nearby surveillance footage to determine if anyone else was at the location."

"Yes, ma'am!"

The team scattered to investigate, while a young technician began accessing the security camera network from her tablet.

However, she quickly discovered a significant obstacle.

"Captain, there are no cameras within a hundred meters of this location. We cannot retrieve any direct surveillance footage of the incident."

"Then expand the search area! Check feeds from further away!"

"Roger that!"

Meanwhile, Victor had already returned to his apartment, completely unaware of the investigation going on behind him.

[Victor: Everyone! I made an incredible discovery today!]

[Belle: What discovery?]

[Lumine: What happened? Did you find out that all couples in the world are actually siblings?]

[Stelle: Damn, that's a pretty disturbing discovery!]

[Kiana: Siblings are great, siblings are wonderful, siblings quack together!]

[Victor: Stop joking around, I'm talking about something serious here]

[Kiana: Then please tell us quickly!]

[Victor: Ahem, here's what happened...]

Victor went on to describe his encounter with the ogre and relayed the System's explanation of the dimensional collision and world-melding process.

After listening to his account, the girls in the group were also shocked by these revelations.

[Shinobu: How is it possible for two worlds to merge?]

[Bai Yuekui: All I can say is that the universe is vast and full of wonders we cannot imagine.]

[Lumine: What kind of world is on the other side?]

[Victor: I'm not sure yet, but when I have some free time, I may go over and investigate in person.]

[Stelle: Let's go together then!]

[Victor: No problem.]

[Kiana: Count me in! I really want to see what a world with demons is like]

[Belle: Based on my experience watching countless movies and shows, this place is most likely a western fantasy world.]

[Shinobu: What exactly is a western fantasy world?]

[Belle: Western Fantasy is short for Western Fantasy World. These settings typically feature humans, magic, gods, demons, and even beautiful elf maidens.]

[Victor: Speaking of beautiful elf maidens, Belle, don't you have one in your world?]

If Victor remembered correctly, there was indeed a beautiful female character with pointed ears in Zenless Zone Zero. One of his most memorable encounters from that universe was with Vivian Banshee, although he had arrived in that world before she was fully introduced into the story.

[Belle: That's not an elf, she's of the Therian race, which is fundamentally different from the elves found in Western fantasy worlds.]
