Fairy Spirits were known as avatars of the gods.

They were creations of the divine temple in Heaven, and their numbers were exceedingly rare.

Thousands of years ago—

In order to save humanity in the lower world, the gods of the upper world sent forth Fairy Spirits.

However, since gods had varying dispositions—good, evil, and whimsical—

some Fairy Spirits were dispatched solely for the gods' own selfish purposes.

According to the Divine Labyrinth Chronicles, only six Fairy Spirits were officially recorded:

The Six Rings of the Fairy Spirit

The Fairy Spirit gave her life to slay Nidhogg.

Crozzo's Fairy Spirit

Crozzo once saved a Fairy Spirit, who gifted him her blood in return.

Three thousand years later, the Fairy Spirit despised him and stripped him of her power.

Eventually, Welf regained the magic sword power, but he himself despised it.

Fiana's Fairy Spirit

She did not fight to save humanity.

She had only two goals: to obey the gods' order to retrieve the crimson Fierce Lance, and to fulfill her own desire of becoming a Sage.

In the end, she vanished alongside Diem.

Argo's Fairy Spirit

Argo and his friend challenged the Fairy Shrine.

After surviving the horde of monsters attracted by the Fairy Spirit, they obtained her power—

at the cost of consuming most of their souls.

Fland's Fairy Spirit

After losing her beloved, the Fairy Spirit went berserk and tried to kill the Hero.

Yet in the end, she regretted it and protected the Hero from the monsters.

The Fairy Spirit of the Mercenary King, Albert Waldstein

When the Hero fell, the Fairy Spirit sacrificed herself to seal the legendary Black Dragon.

In addition, three Fairy Spirits not found in the official chronicles existed:

The Fallen Fairy Spirit

After her Hero died, she was devoured by monsters.

She turned into a being whose instinct was to devour, and whose desire was to reach the surface.

The Fairy Spirit from Grace's Homeland

An earth-element Fairy Spirit—erratic, unpredictable, and extremely difficult to please.

Astraea's Fairy Spirit

Eventually, she transformed into a Fairy Horse.

In truth…

Fairy Spirits were tragic beings.

They were forced to carry out the gods' wills, and most had extremely weak self-awareness.

When fighting monsters, they had to sacrifice their lives to ensure destruction of their enemies.

Even Fiana's Fairy Spirit—who rejected the gods' will—

eventually developed her own desire to raise a Hero.

Fairy Spirits could also be cold and cruel.

Argo's Fairy Spirit lured monsters to guard the shrine,

claiming the lives of countless adventurers in the process.

Heroes who bonded with Fairy Spirits were often led to tragic ends.

Only those who were truly Heroes were recognized by Fairy Spirits—

forming contracts and perishing with them.

In summary:

Cruelty.

Weak self-awareness.

Obedience to others' wills.

The act of selecting Heroes…

Only one race shared all these traits:

Monsters.

The Fallen Fairy Spirit had evolved into a being on par with the Black Dragon in terms of threat level.

Perhaps...

She was unconsciously imitating the same ancient pattern:

Attract monsters to test the Hero.

Select a Hero capable of slaying dragons.

Choose a Hero worthy of herself.

"She's a Fairy Spirit—her name is Aria."

Supported by Meteria, Raven finally revealed her identity.

"A… Fairy Spirit?!"

Daphne gasped.

Aria—the mother of Ais—soon came to understand the situation.

Fairy Spirits cannot reproduce.

In other words—

Aria's body remained untouched, pure and untainted.

As for her daughter, Ais—

She was created using special magic, combining her essence with the genes of the Mercenary King, Albert.

It was similar to how the Fallen Fairy Spirit had created the monster girls Revis and Filvis.

As everyone knows—

Ais had already been born over a thousand years ago.

During the joint Dungeon expedition by the Zeus Familia and Hera Familia,

they discovered the sealed young Ais in the Icefields of Millennium Frost.

Back then, her age was locked at 7 years old.

But neither of the two strongest Familias could break the seal.

It wasn't until the Loki Familia later found her that Riveria was able to awaken her.

Ais officially joined the Loki Familia 9 years ago, according to the original timeline.
