Chapter 164: Chapter 164 - Eina’s Scream
Northwest Avenue — Guild Headquarters.
The Pantheon.
At this moment—
The wide open office hall was unusually quiet and relaxed.
Since the Babel Tower's exchange counter was closer, most adventurers fresh from the Dungeon would usually head there first to trade their [magic stones] for valis.
"Hey, Zoel—what floor is your Heavenly Demon Lord up to now?"
Among the receptionist ladies,
A senior female werewolf with deep curiosity glanced at the half-elf with brown hair.
Her name was Rose, and she had flowing crimson hair like wildfire.
Eina tapped her chin with her index finger, thinking aloud:
"Hmm~~"
"He's on the 18th floor now."
Just then—
Another receptionist, one of the most popular women in the Guild, who had joined at the same time as Rose, chimed in:
"How envious~"
"Zoel, you really picked up a gem with that one."
"If I'd known that rookie had such potential, I would've snatched him up myself!"
"Ahaha… it wasn't that easy, actually," Eina said with a wry smile.
"That guy really made me worry in the beginning."
The beauty named Sophie had a delicate, oval-shaped face.
Her race was elf, with silky lavender hair cascading down her back like a waterfall.
"Oh right, Zoel."
"Do you think you could… introduce him to me sometime?"
"How about we grab dinner after work?"
Sophie smiled with teasing curiosity.
"…Huh?"
Eina blinked in disbelief.
"Oh don't make that face," Sophie said, half-laughing.
"I just want to see for myself this adventurer who leveled up in a single day."
"Me too," Rose added, twirling a strand of her red hair.
"The fastest level-up in the city—it just sounds too promising to ignore."
"Besides, that Heavenly Demon Lord is pretty good-looking," Sophie said, a flush rising on her cheeks.
Back during the War Game…
This very elf receptionist hadn't taken her eyes off Raven the entire time.
"Hey, hey—don't think just because it's almost closing time that you can slack off and gossip."
Their canine supervisor, Remo, strolled over with a cup of iced tea in hand.
"Y-Yes, Supervisor Remo!"
Eina sighed silently and dutifully returned to her tasks.
The others followed suit, falling into a focused hush.
…
Not long after—
"Eina, I'm here."
A voice she'd dreamed about whispered beside her pointed ears.
"R-Raven-kun!?"
Eina immediately stood up from her seat.
At the same time—
Misia, Sophie, Rose… all the receptionists looked over at once.
"That's really the Heavenly Demon Lord…"
"He's even more handsome in person~"
"Ugh, if only he were my assigned adventurer…"
"I want to ask him out, but… will Zoel let me…?"
Whispers rippled through the crowd of beautiful Guild staff.
They all knew by now—Raven had reached Level 2, and fast.
"…Huh?"
"That's strange. Why's everyone looking at me?"
Raven approached the counter and scanned the room, confused.
This wasn't narcissism—
Those girls were genuinely staring at him.
Some even had dreamy, dazed looks on their faces.
Shaking his head,
Raven brushed it off and turned to Eina.
"Did you go exploring again today?" she asked, lips parting slightly.
"Yeah."
"Just got back from the Dungeon."
"I'm here to update my floor progress."
He got right to the point—this was the Guild, not a place for flirting.
So—
No small talk. No teasing. Just business.
"All right, which floor did you reach?"
Eina beamed, her smile radiating warmth like a big sister.
Her emerald eyes sparkled as if saying: Let's hear it!
"Deep zone. Floor 37."
Raven matched her smile with a casual curve of his own.
Upon hearing that—
Eina's cheerful posture turned stiff as a statue.
The gentle smile on her face froze mid-expression.
"…Huh?"
"What did you just say…?"
"Did I mishear that?"
Her smile twitched, clearly unstable.
"You didn't mishear."
"I said I've reached the 37th floor."
"Update my record, will you?"
"Oh—and next time when I hit the 80th floor, I'll give you another surprise."
Raven scratched his head like it was no big deal.
To him—
Reaching the 80th floor during the Familia's expedition wasn't a fantasy.
Of course…
He didn't mean clearing every floor along the way, but rather using teleportation magic to skip through.
Right now, even the Loki Familia hadn't gotten past floor 58—the infamous Dragon Urn Zone.
Everything beyond floor 50 was a living hell. From floor 52 down, nothing made sense anymore.
So if he could leap straight to the 80th—
It would be diving straight into the Abyssal Hell.
…
"Thirty-seven… Eighty…"
Eina muttered fragments of numbers, her voice trembling.
"Yes."
"Oh—and update my level while you're at it."
"I'm Level 4 now."
Raven said it like he was talking about the weather.
"…Eh?"
"What's wrong?"
Noticing her silence and frozen expression,
He waved his hand in front of her face a couple of times.
"…Level 4—!?"
That shriek—
It thundered across the entire Guild headquarters like a lightning strike.
At that very moment—
Everyone inside the building turned their heads toward them.
Raven, standing before Eina, nearly stumbled backward in shock.
