Chapter 99: Chapter 99 - Daphne and Cassandra
Northeast Avenue, First District.
Hephaestus Familia Headquarters.
"What?"
"Hephaestus isn't here?"
"Yes, Lady Hestia. The goddess is currently helping out at one of the branch stores."
When they arrived at the Familia's entrance,
they were informed by a senior blacksmith that Goddess Hephaestus wasn't at the main base.
As a large-scale smithing brand, the Hephaestus Familia owned many branch stores throughout Orario.
Aside from their Babel Tower locations,
they also had several high-end shops in the Adventurer's Street area.
"I see… Well, let's head to our next stop."
Seeing that the sky was beginning to darken,
Raven didn't intend to wait inside for the smithing goddess to return.
Leaving the Familia's premises behind,
he continued strolling with the blue-ribbon goddess toward Southwest Avenue.
The western sky was streaked with the fading light of dusk, tinged with pale blue.
Their hands, walking side by side, seemed to naturally gravitate toward one another and interlock.
As they crossed Babel Tower's central plaza—
"Hestia, tomorrow can you go meet with Goddess Hephaestus for me?"
"I'll give you 1 billion valis to have first-tier equipment made for Meteria."
"One billion?!"
Hestia blinked in surprise.
"Yes. That's for the sword and armor."
"She uses a longsword, so for armor, commission a set of light armor."
"Though… I'm guessing one billion won't be enough. I'll give you more tonight."
After all—
When Hephaestus made a dagger for Bell, it cost 200 million valis.
The material cost for a longsword was likely around 700–800 million,
and a set of light armor would push the total to about 1.3 billion.
"So… you want my goddess-friend Hephaestus to personally make it?"
Hestia asked uncertainly.
"Yes. Only her."
"No other smiths."
Raven firmly designated the smithing goddess.
Even if the "One-Eyed Blacksmith" Tsubaki offered, he would still refuse.
With money brought right to her door,
Hephaestus was unlikely to say no to her blue-ribbon friend.
"Alrighty, leave it to me."
Hestia narrowed her crescent-shaped eyes, a bright smile blooming across her face.
Just then—
A sultry, mature voice called out:
"Oh-ho? Isn't that Hestia?"
"Out for a stroll with your child?"
A beautiful goddess with long black hair,
wearing a pair of black horned sunglasses, walked over to greet them.
"Hathor?"
Hestia blinked in recognition.
Hathor, the goddess of agriculture.
Her Familia was ranked A, one of the upper-tier factions in the city.
In the original series—
She appeared during the Harvest Goddess Festival,
alongside Demeter and Freyja.
After Ishtar was exiled back to heaven,
Hathor took in many of her battle prostitutes.
"Yep, what a coincidence. You're out with your child too?"
Hestia smiled in return.
"I'm just here on business."
"But… the child at your side must be the Heavenly Demon Lord, right?"
"He's quite the looker."
Hathor's eyes lingered on Raven with an appreciative gleam.
"Hello, Goddess Hathor. I'm Raven."
Raven's gaze subtly drifted to her long, slender legs—
And then—
To the beautiful dark elf mage standing behind her.
This rare dark elf woman was known as the Black Scorpion Witch,
a Level 5 adventurer.
She said nothing, remaining quiet as her sharp eyes studied him.
"Raven, I have high hopes for you~"
Hathor's lips curled into a sweet, meaningful smile.
"Well then, Hestia, we've got things to take care of, so we'll be off."
"Okay, see you!"
After bidding farewell to the Hathor Familia,
they continued on to Southwest District's Waterborne Key.
It was a floating restaurant aboard a pure white vessel—
while not quite a luxury cruise ship, it was still at least 50 meters long.
Normally, it remained docked at the harbor.
During the Goddess Festival,
the ship would cruise through the waterways of Orario in celebration.
"We're having dinner here?"
"Yep. I've heard the food here is pretty amazing…"
Raven smiled.
Now that he had money, how could he not enjoy life?
"Once we've eaten, we'll head home. Been walking all day—we're both a little tired."
"Alright!"
Hestia nodded excitedly.
She'd had a wonderful time today.
"Let's go, then."
Just as he was about to lead Hestia onto the boat—
Raven's gaze happened to meet that of two female adventurers lingering nearby on the docks.
They stared at him for a moment.
The look in their eyes confirmed it—
They had found the person they were looking for.
And then, they walked straight toward him.
"You go ahead and get a table and order. I'll be there in a minute."
Raven released her hand after giving instructions.
"Alrighty."
Hestia didn't think much of it and entered the restaurant with a cheerful expression.
As soon as she was gone—
The two female adventurers stepped up in front of Raven.
"You're the Heavenly Demon Lord, right?"
Asked a short-haired girl who exuded a strong, commanding presence.
"Yes."
Raven looked her in the eye.
This was Daphne Lauros, commander of the Apollo Familia.
A Level 2 adventurer, bearing the alias "Laurel Runner."
Standing behind her was a beautiful girl with flowing deep blue hair.
Cassandra Ilion, also from the Apollo Familia,
a Level 2 healer known by the alias "The Pessimist."
She stepped forward timidly.
"U-Um… this is for you…"
Cassandra lifted her gaze and nervously offered Raven an invitation with both hands.
He took it.
The high-quality envelope was sealed with wax,
bearing the sender's personal crest—
A sun and a bow.
