Multiverse Selection 3 Harry Potter Auden

Chapter 3: Chapter 3 The Release.

Dumbledore watched as Voldemort's wraith form attacked Harry after Harry burned Quirrell with his own two hands. Making a malnourished boy face one of the strongest dark wizards in the world might not have been the sanest thing to do for anyone with even a little bit of humanity within their hearts. But right now, Dumbledore had no other choice.

Seeing that Voldemort was about to curse, Dumbledore immediately stepped out of the Disillusionment Charm and cast a Patronus, driving Voldemort away from Harry and toward the window.

He watched as Voldemort faded away while wailing out noises that shattered the other windows of the room.

Dumbledore gripped his wand tightly. He so wanted to try and capture and destroy the spirit of Voldemort that was running away. But alas, he knew about the prophecy. And because he knew it, any action he took would only backfire on him in the end. And if he succeeded in any way, Fate would strike in a manner that might empower Voldemort and increase the risk Harry would have to take in the future.

"I'm sorry about putting you through this, my boy."

He began examining Harry while muttering apologies. Seeing that the only problem he had was extreme depletion of stamina and nothing more, he sighed in relief. He gently picked up Harry using his wand.

As he was about to exit the room, he turned around, as he remembered something that would be irresponsible to leave behind.

"Now where is that stone—" he stopped as he saw something unbelievable.

The Philosopher's Stone was sinking toward the ground. For a moment, Dumbledore froze. But the sinking of the stone did not stop, and suddenly the entire thing was swallowed.

"Merlin's beard," Dumbledore exclaimed in horror as he saw the entire stone vanish under the ground. He didn't know what to do. As he was contemplating using a Bombarda spell on the ground, a magic circle emerged and spread across the entire room. It was filled with runes that kept oscillating and changing within seconds.

Dumbledore decided to look at it, but the more he looked, the more his head began to ache due to the complexity of what he was seeing.

He closed his eyes, exited the room with the fainted Harry, closed the room, and used his magic to lock it.

He then tried to calmly remember the few symbols he had seen.

"Definitely not even a hint of modern runes are present in there. They also do not match the ancient ones being rediscovered either." He sighed. "I hoped not to bring him into this, but the stone belonged to him after all."

He then looked at the floating Harry.

"Firstly, right now, let's make sure you are comfortable."

Five days passed as the school year ended. Dumbledore watched from the tower as the Hogwarts train left the premises of Hogwarts to return the children to the train station, where they would each go to their respective homes. He then turned toward the Floo Network connected to his office that suddenly lit up in green flames, and an ancient-looking man stepped out from it.

"It is good to see you, my friend, and I am sorry that I had to ask you to come here," Dumbledore said as he gently shook his hand. He knew Nicolas was in a really delicate condition right now; even a little too much force might shatter his bone to its marrow and turn it into dust.

"Well, I want to say it is a pleasure, but truthfully, I would have liked to enjoy my retirement with my wife. You know that we decided to finish our lives soon."

Dumbledore's eyes showed a bit of sadness as he listened to him.

"You will be missed, my friend."

"Now, now, no need for these silly sad emotions," Nicolas interrupted. "Dumbledore, now take me there as quickly as possible. The sooner it is over, the better."

Dumbledore did not waste any time and took him directly to the room where the runes were still in a lit-up state. He had asked the former masters who were available to him through the portraits about it in the last few days, but even they were unable to answer, and the oldest among them was only able to say that there was something hidden by the four founders in the room. Its identity, though, was still a mystery.

Flamel walked through the door carefully, as even fast movements were dangerous to him. As he watched the runes, his eyes widened in surprise.

"Now this is interesting," he exclaimed, drawing Dumbledore's attention.

"What is it? Do you recognize the runes?"

"Yes, yes I do. But the thing is, Dumbledore, most of the runes the modern researchers mark as ancient are actually quite modern for a person like me born centuries ago. But this—what you see before you—is actually ancient for me as well.

But luckily I made sure to dabble in runes during my younger days," he said as he touched one of the runes gently.

Suddenly, all the runes began to move rapidly, and the entire room began to shake.

"What did you do, my friend?" Dumbledore asked worriedly as he looked around.

"The runes were an indicator of confirmation of whatever my stone was used for. It was just there to ask permission to open a few locks, that's all. So I opened it."

'Opened it?' Dumbledore felt like slapping his own forehead in exasperation. How could he have forgotten the kind of eccentric person he had brought into Hogwarts—someone who wouldn't hesitate to test a bomb for fun?

At the other side of the castle, the Bloody Baron was trying to find Peeves to teach him a lesson for his pranks. But suddenly he stopped as he sensed something that should not have happened yet.

"How—the child. The child must not be harmed!!!" he shouted as he flew through the walls toward the location from where tremors were spreading all throughout Hogwarts.

At the Ravenclaw Tower—

Helena Ravenclaw, who had a dull and melancholic look on her face, suddenly widened her eyes.

"No—the Founder Protection Project." She then turned toward the direction where she felt the energy.

"The child, I should protect him," she muttered as she too began to fly toward the fourth floor.

Dumbledore and Nicolas watched in shock as the floor opened up to reveal what was hidden.

"A child!!" Dumbledore muttered as he saw an eleven-year-old body sleeping on a crystal bed.
