[Multiverse] The Reincarnated One's Journey Across Multiverse

Chapter 10: Competition (1)

As Shirakawa Yuki stepped out of the dormitory, the academy's broadcast echoed throughout the campus:

"Attention, students of Spirit Hall Junior Academy. The opening ceremony is about to commence. Students who have not arrived at the playground, please proceed immediately. I repeat, the opening ceremony is about to commence."

Yuki groaned, muttering to himself, "Guess I'm skipping breakfast today. Didn't think they'd start this early… Hope it doesn't drag on forever."

---

About half an hour later, the opening ceremony began. Since Yuki had arrived a bit late, he was stuck standing among the crowd instead of finding a proper seat.

A man with striking red hair walked onto the platform. His confident gaze swept over the students below as he began his speech:

"Today marks the beginning of a new semester. With it comes fresh opportunities and challenges. Many new faces have joined our family here at Spirit Hall Junior Academy. Seniors, I urge you to assist your juniors as they find their way. As is tradition, I will also remind everyone of the academy's rules. Violations will not be tolerated."

The red-haired man then spent the next half hour reciting the academy's guidelines. Finally, as he concluded, he cleared his throat and continued, "This year, we have a total of 16 exceptional freshmen. Fourteen are considered outstanding, and two are recognized as geniuses."

Murmurs spread through the crowd as the students reacted to the announcement.

"Sixteen outstanding freshmen? And two geniuses? That's more than usual!"

"Yeah, it's rare to have even one genius in a batch, let alone two."

The red-haired man raised his hand, silencing the chatter. "I'll now call the names of the exceptional students. Step forward when your name is called."

One by one, he called out names: "Meng Xinghan—"

When the list of fourteen was complete, the man's tone shifted slightly, signaling the main event. "Now, let's welcome our two geniuses! Hua Kanna, wielder of the mutant plant spirit, and Shirakawa Yuki, wielder of the demon dual pistols!"

Yuki's name echoed through the field. Forcing his way through the crowd, he climbed onto the stage, where fifteen others already stood waiting.

The red-haired man gave them a moment to settle before addressing them again. "As is customary for Spirit Hall Junior Academy, the outstanding students will participate in a competition. The winner will have the honor of meeting Pope Bibi Dong. If you gain her favor, you may even be granted the chance to train within the Spirit Hall itself. However, that's a rare privilege. Let's begin!"

He pulled out a bundle of numbered sticks and extended them toward the students. "Each of you will draw a lot. The number you draw will determine your opponent. Matches will proceed in order, starting from number one."

Yuki grabbed a stick and glanced at the number etched on it: **1**. He smirked. "Looks like I'm up first."

---

"Number one, step forward to the stone platform!" announced the red-haired man.

The crowd parted, creating a path to the raised platform. Yuki and his opponent, a blue-haired boy, walked toward it. While Yuki confidently leaped onto the platform, the other boy climbed the stairs cautiously.

Once both were on the stone platform, the red-haired man appeared in its center. With a wave of his hand, the numbered sticks flew from the students' hands and returned to him. He spoke with authority:

"The rules are simple. The match ends when one of you either surrenders or loses the ability to fight. Any attacks after the match ends will lead to disqualification. Understood?"

Both competitors nodded. The red-haired man then jumped off the platform, leaving them to face each other.

The blue-haired boy bowed slightly and introduced himself: "Ye Tian. Level 11. Martial spirit: Wind Bow."

Yuki returned the bow with a slight smirk. "Shirakawa Yuki. Level 12. Martial spirit: Demon Dual Pistols."

As soon as the introductions ended, both summoned their martial spirits. A cyan bow materialized in Ye Tian's hands, its surface etched with intricate patterns. Behind him, a yellow soul ring glowed faintly.

Ye Tian narrowed his eyes. "Summon your martial spirit, or you'll regret it!"

Yuki chuckled, shaking his head. "Nah, my soul skills are a bit overkill. Don't want to hurt you too badly."

Ye Tian's expression darkened, interpreting Yuki's words as arrogance. With a sharp exhale, he drew back his bowstring, conjuring a cyan energy arrow. His yellow soul ring flared to life as he activated his skill. "Wind Wings!"

The arrow, surrounded by a swirling aura of wind, shot toward Yuki at blistering speed.

Yuki, however, remained calm. With a subtle sidestep, he avoided the arrow by a hair's breadth. Simultaneously, he raised his hand and fired a shot from one of his pistols—not to hit Ye Tian, but as a warning.

The arrow streaked past Yuki, ruffling his clothes, while his bullet grazed Ye Tian's arm, tearing through his sleeve and drawing blood. Ye Tian winced, beads of sweat forming on his forehead. He clenched his teeth but finally shouted, "I… I surrender!"

The crowd erupted in murmurs, stunned by how quickly the match had ended. The red-haired man's eyebrows raised briefly before he regained his composure. "Take him down," he instructed one of the academy staff below.

A white-robed attendant approached the platform and helped Ye Tian get down. Yuki casually stepped off the platform, his expression unreadable. As he passed through the crowd, students instinctively stepped aside, their gazes a mix of awe and fear.

However, not all were intimidated. Among the onlookers, a few senior students and previous outstanding participants eyed Yuki with intrigue, their interest piqued by his effortless victory.
