Chapter 187: Chapter 185: Shirou returns home and meets a drunkard

Shirou Emiya and his companions swiftly convinced Illyasviel. Having spent a decade within the Einzbern family, she had observed various phenomena over the years. Previously unable to piece them together due to confusion, the critical missing link provided by Shirou unraveled the truth before her eyes.

The thought of Kiritsugu visiting her only to be blocked at the door by stubborn elders fueled her anger. In that moment, Illyasviel wished she could return to the past and let Berserker cleanse the castle of those who barred her father's way.

With simmering resentment, she accompanied Shirou to the Emiya residence, eager to see where her father had spent his final days and what kind of place it was.

During the journey, Illyasviel's constant reflections on her family kept the group under a heavy atmosphere. Conversations among Shirou, Rin, and Sakura were subdued, voices lowered to avoid disturbing her thoughts. The Servants trailed behind in ethereal form, avoiding drawing attention during daylight hours. Their flashy attire would surely attract unwanted stares, especially from older residents who wouldn't easily accept explanations like "performance art."

Miyama Town was predominantly inhabited by elderly individuals, many still active in local roles. Thus, upon returning to the Emiya household, the group immediately noticed an unusual commotion inside—a cacophony of voices emanating from the main hall.

Shirou faintly recognized Fujimura Taiga's boisterous tone mingled with Shinji Matou's. Judging by their cheerful banter, they seemed to be enjoying themselves. Other unfamiliar voices hinted at additional guests.

Without hesitation, Shirou quickened his pace toward the living room. Two days prior, after Lancer's assault, he had personally repaired the damaged door and roof. Fortunately, the structural integrity remained intact, making restoration relatively straightforward.

Kicking open the door, Shirou froze momentarily at the sight of a blue-haired man dressed casually in thin summer clothing seated among the others. Recognition dawned slowly—this was none other than *Lancer*, the Servant who killed him just days ago.

"Lancer?!!" he exclaimed involuntarily.

Indeed, it was Cu Chulainn, whose crimson spear pierced him fatally last Friday night. The sensation of blood pooling beneath his body as life slipped away lingered vividly in Shirou's memory.

"Ahh, Shirou has returned! Strange, why is Mr. Cu Chulainn called Lancer?" Fujimura Taiga interjected, cheeks flushed red from drink. Clearly tipsy, she clutched her cup without abandon.

"Sis Fujimura is wasted," Shirou mused internally, noting how carefree she appeared despite the circumstances. Turning his gaze, he saw Shinji swaying unsteadily, equally drunk. Even Cu Chulainn, sipping wine gracefully, didn't seem impaired.

Finally, his eyes landed on Li Mo, calmly raising a glass in greeting. His composure steadied Shirou's racing thoughts. Something significant must've transpired while he was absent.

In Shirou's mind, Cu Chulainn should've been their enemy—but now, he sat drinking amicably alongside allies?

Adding to the confusion, Assassin bustled about in the kitchen, replacing Sakura's usual role without eliciting any complaints.

"Why are you all drinking… and what about Cu Chulainn?"

Shirou recalled learning Cu Chulainn's true name—"Son of Light from Ireland"—from Artoria Pendragon following their brief clash on Friday. Otherwise, how would a Japanese boy know about Irish heroes? Perhaps he should focus more on history instead of daydreaming; it might improve his grades.

Not that his academic performance was stellar.

"Hmm, looks like Miss Illyasviel has already been persuaded. Shirou, perhaps you could entertain Fujimura-sensei for a bit? Once she's sufficiently intoxicated, I'll explain everything," Li Mo suggested nonchalantly. As he spoke, he subtly employed magic to transmit his words exclusively to those sober enough to listen—excluding Fujimura Taiga and Shinji.

After Rider's control reverted to Sakura Matou, Shinji officially relinquished his role as Master, withdrawing from the Holy Grail War. Though if not for his current state of intoxication, Li Mo wouldn't have excluded him so readily.

Shirou glanced at the two revelers, Fujimura Taiga jovially patting Shinji's shoulder while both complained bitterly about their respective elders. A rare bond formed between them over shared grievances.

Reluctantly, Shirou joined in, coaxing Fujimura Taiga into another round of drinks. Despite it being barely mid-afternoon, Medea and Koyanskaya prepared ample alcohol and appetizers.

Before long, Shirou guided Fujimura Taiga and Shinji to a guest room for rest, aided silently by Sakura Matou.

Li Mo, meanwhile, continued drinking leisurely, unaffected by the sake. His constitution, far surpassing ordinary humans, rendered such indulgences trivial. He toasted occasionally with Cu Chulainn, who, as a Servant, consumed food and drink not out of necessity but to replenish mana.

Eventually, Shirou and Sakura returned, signaling Li Mo's opportunity to clarify lingering doubts.
