Chapter 311: Chapter 307: A Truly Ordinary Dog

The Dark Side War.

It was essentially a conflict between various dark side organizations. It only involved the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 4 Level 5 espers in Academy City.

Seemingly, not worth mentioning?

Well, except for Accelerator, who was a bit troublesome.

The airship above was broadcasting a promotion about a speech by Oyafune Monaka, which vaguely reminded Li Mo that today was supposed to be the day when several dark side organizations would clash.

It was also the day when Frenda became Frenda (dead).

**Tokiwadai Girls' School.**

"The name sounds familiar…"

After the sound of explosions, Li Mo, under the gaze of others, jumped out of the moving bus in one smooth motion.

The bus, detecting danger ahead, immediately turned around and left. Li Mo's destination was District 7, so he wasn't going back to District 11.

Jumping off the high-speed bus, his clothes scraped against the asphalt road. Thanks to his ability to "nullify" damage, Li Mo emerged almost unscathed.

He headed toward the source of the explosions.

Who knows? Maybe he could still save some lost lambs if he got there in time.

---

**Frenda Seivelun.**

A foreigner in Academy City. In this city located in Japan, foreign students like her were a minority.

But being a minority didn't mean they didn't exist.

Academy City wasn't as perfect as it was portrayed. Darkness still lurked in this city. The world was like that—nothing new under the sun. For various reasons, Frenda, as a powerless individual, chose to step into the dark side of Academy City.

Because she was powerless, she didn't even have an esper ability. So, Frenda chose to use bombs as her weapon. In the face of explosives, everyone was equal.

"Ugh, I got separated from Mugino and the others? Guess I should retreat for now."

Using micro-bombs to take out the gun-wielding grunts, Frenda adorably adjusted her beret and prepared to leave.

Then, "ratatatatat—"

Gunfire erupted, all aimed at where Frenda had been standing.

"Why are there still so many of them? Damn it!"

She casually tossed out a few dolls. As the bombs exploded, Frenda took the opportunity to run.

But clearly, there were too many enemies.

**「School」.**

Like 「Item」, it was one of Academy City's dark side organizations. There were many such organizations in Academy City. As a member of 「Item」, Frenda's job was to deal with these dark side groups.

Frenda had handled too many of these grunts before.

But back then, Mugino Shizuri was by her side. As a Level 5 esper, she could easily clear out large numbers of grunts.

"So, why are there so many this time? How many people did 「School」 recruit?"

Firearms weren't uncommon in Academy City; in fact, they were rampant. After all, if Frenda could get her hands on bombs, guns were even easier to obtain.

Hiding behind cover, Frenda listened to the endless gunfire. Grunts were nothing to 「Item」. Mugino Shizuri's Meltdowner could wipe them out, and Kinuhata Saiai's Nitrogen Armor could block bullets to some extent.

But now, she was all alone!

"Guess… I'm out of luck this time? Am I going to get caught?"

Her bomb supply was also running dangerously low.

Frenda bit her nails, her whole body trembling.

But then, she noticed the gunfire outside had significantly decreased, until it finally stopped completely.

Had they gotten closer?

Frenda pulled out her last bomb.

"Hey there, little lady."

However, what appeared before the blonde girl was a man with a squinting smile.

"Go to hell."

Frenda threw the bomb in her hand and swiftly retreated to a safe position.

The bomb exploded instantly.

"One down… huh? Wait, why are there so many bodies around?"

Frenda looked around. The grunt-like members were all lying on the ground. Upon closer inspection, it seemed they had all lost their vital signs.

Maybe, just maybe, that man was an ally?

But she didn't even know him.

Frenda had no idea what had happened, but seeing the situation, she decided to run.

"Hey… you think you can just walk away like that?"

Frenda felt two hands grab her shoulders. Turning around, she saw the man's kind smile, though his now-open eyes had turned into golden beast-like pupils.

"I saw the bomb explode right on you!"

"You think explosions work on me?"

"I surrender."

The girl wasn't exactly the most strong-willed person. When it came to life and death, everything else was negotiable.

Li Mo grabbed Frenda by the back of her collar, lifting her like a ragdoll. "I actually thought I'd run into the #2, but in the end, it's just grunts, huh?"

"Uh, actually, the #2 already took what he wanted and ran away."

"It's a strategic retreat. He probably got what he wanted… what a foolish kid. Oh, and don't expect me to let you go. I'm not exactly forgiving. Getting a bomb thrown in my face is something I'll remember for life."

"You're so magnanimous."

Sensing that the man had no intention of killing her, Frenda flattered him with a sycophantic tone.

"I'm not magnanimous; I'm a barbarian. Alright, come with me."

Carrying Frenda like a little bunny, Li Mo left the scene.

If he remembered correctly, the conflict that just happened was between the dark side organizations of Dark Matter and Meltdowner, meaning it was a fight between Academy City's #2 and #4.

If it were a real deathmatch, Li Mo would bet on Dark Matter. Not just because of his higher rank, but because his ability was ridiculously overpowered—he could create matter that didn't exist in this world.

If it weren't for Accelerator, that freak, Dark Matter might have been the #1 in Academy City.

"By the way, little Frenda, as a dark side operative, you must have some intel, right?"

"Uh… what do you want to know?"

Although she didn't think the man would kill her, Frenda wasn't willing to gamble with her life.

If he asked about 「Item」, she might hesitate. But if it was other information, she'd spill it without a second thought.

"Hmm…"

Frenda's question made Li Mo hesitate. After all, he knew that Academy City's air was filled with Underline nanomachines. Some things were better left unsaid.

Who knew what keywords Aleister had set up?

"Do you know where to find Accelerator's calculation formulas?"

"Why would you want that?"

Accelerator's calculation formulas were useless to anyone who wasn't an esper… and this man looked young, but he was clearly an adult.

Li Mo smiled without answering.

Perhaps Accelerator's calculation formulas could help him modify the "Solo Run" spell?

Thinking about it, the data on esper development in Academy City seemed incredibly valuable…

"What's wrong? Why did you stop?"

Frenda felt the man carrying her come to a halt.

Li Mo had stopped walking, and even his smile had disappeared.

Because he saw a dog.
