Chapter 28: [28] The First King of Israel
Saint Martha was one of the Twelve Holy Maiden of Christianity, a renowned saint of Christ. According to legend, Martha had a younger brother and sister, both famous figures in mythology—Lazarus and Mary Magdalene.
Records of Martha are scarce. Beyond being a devout Christian, her greatest feat in legend was encountering a rampaging monster in Tarascon. At the plea of the townspeople, she subdued the draconic beast Tarasque. From then on, Saint Martha settled in Tarascon, and under her influence, the locals converted to the then-new religion of Christianity.
Roy's The Hand of Jacob is the strongest combat technique recorded in the Bible. Through his own research and understanding, Roy divided it into seven forms, each imbued with the power of Scripture, capable of recreating legends and myths.
With the strike of Saintess Subdues the Dragon, a punch carrying the force to vanquish dragons and tigers, even a legendary wyrm would be felled by this blow.
Regardless of how Saint Martha's legend describes her pacifying the beast through persuasion, The Hand of Jacob distorts this record—here, the dragon is subdued by sheer fist.
Metatron towered like a giant, no different from a mythical dragon. Yet the force behind Saintess Subdues the Dragon was absolute, surpassing even draconic might.
BOOM——————!
Roy's seemingly small fist collided with Metatron's arm. A terrifying shockwave erupted, shattering the rocky ground beneath the heretic angel's feet. Metatron let out a pained cry as his massive body was driven into the earth, his waist pinned by the shattered cliffs, leaving the "Heavenly Scribe" momentarily unable to rise.
"Second Form—Moses Parts the Sea!"
At this moment, Roy transformed into a martial artist akin to the ancient warriors of Eastern lore, having reached the "pinnacle of martial prowess."
Roy's right hand, previously tucked in his pocket, suddenly emerged. Above his right shoulder, a mosaic-like distortion appeared—an anomaly of his right arm. Raising his hand high, his fist shifted into a blade-like chop, slashing downward toward Metatron's left arm.
His hand-blade was sharper than any sword. Surging energy split Metatron's arm clean off, divine blood spraying forth. The remaining force of the slash continued unabated, cleaving the lone town on Ponza Island in two, tearing through Crescent Beach, and splitting the Tyrrhenian Sea all the way to the distant horizon.
The magnificent spectacle resembled Poseidon himself parting the ocean with his trident.
CRASH——————!
After the sea was divided, once the force of Moses Parts the Sea dissipated, the waters crashed back together. Billions of tons of seawater collided, sending towering waves that swallowed Crescent Beach and the island's town entirely.
In the Book of Exodus, Moses led God's chosen people out of Egypt, freeing them from slavery. At the Red Sea, he parted the waters so they could cross into Canaan.
Through The Hand of Jacob, Roy recreated this legend—but twisted its "record." Here, Moses did not part the sea with a staff, but with a single slash of his hand!
"Third Form—Child of Sacrifice!"
After two moves, Roy gave Metatron no chance to react, transforming his right palm into fingers and thrusting toward the angel's chest.
This strike reenacted Abraham's intent to kill his own child, Isaac, to prove his devotion—a gesture twisted by Roy into Abraham piercing Isaac with his finger to take his life.
This technique embodied both the piety of faith and the ruthlessness of murderous intent. For the sake of God, even one's own child could be slain. Countless killing impulses condensed into a single finger, unstoppable, capable of piercing through anything.
The Hand of Jacob was not the strongest of Roy's authorities, but it was the most practical and suited for combat.
Roy imbued The Hand of Jacob with various biblical myths and legends, allowing him to fight with unrestrained fists, venting a man's passion and soaring spirit.
At this moment, Roy only wanted to test his might against the Eastern Cult leader, Luo Hao—to see whether her Twelve Divine Phoenix Palms, embodying the principle of yin-yang opposition, were superior, or if his The Hand of Jacob, infused with biblical legends, would prevail.
Jacob was also known as "Israel," the ancestor of the Israelites. Today, Roy could well be called the "Fist King of Israel."
His finger pierced through Metatron's chest, and before the angel could counterattack, Roy erupted with magical power in his legs, leaping far away. The Hand of Jacob was called "hand" precisely because it was a combat technique utilizing both hands and feet—though Roy focused all his attacks on his hands, reserving his legs solely for evasion and movement.
Metatron's left arm was severed cleanly, and a gaping hole was torn through his chest. A mortal would have died instantly from such wounds, but a Heretic God's vitality was extraordinarily tenacious—human weak points meant nothing to them.
Roy's relentless barrage of punches left Metatron dazed. When the angel finally regained his senses, he roared in agony, flapping his thirty-six wings and reducing the cliff to rubble. By then, Roy had already retreated beyond his range, standing amidst the shattered ruins as he faced the colossal angel once more.
Erika, who had been close behind Roy earlier, had fled far away. She gasped for breath, her red dress torn in multiple places, revealing glimpses of her delicate skin beneath.
The Italian maiden gripped Cuore di Leone, using her swordsmanship and magic to fend off the debris and shockwaves. When the chaos momentarily subsided, she stared at the devastation before her, a chill running down her spine. Her right hand trembled around the hilt of her sword, her sapphire eyes wide with disbelief.
With just one punch, one palm strike, and one finger thrust, Roy had completely torn apart Ponza Island, a tourist destination in Italy. The island's sole city had been reduced to history under falling rubble and tidal waves, while a third of the island had sunk beneath the sea.
Was this the power of a Campione? Magicians were not incapable of such destruction, but it required the combined efforts of many, channeling grand rituals to unleash such magic. Yet a Campione needed only three strikes—two techniques—to erase an island from the map.
Heretical gods are mobile natural disasters, and Campiones are the demon kings of the earth. At this moment, Erica finally understood the meaning behind those words, feeling ashamed of her previous boldness and defiance.
Erica believed she might be able to block Roy's first punch with all her might, but she would never withstand the second or third!
"Metatron, it seems the injuries Michael inflicted upon you back then were quite severe. Even now, you haven't fully recovered."
Roy slipped his right hand back into his pocket, the distorted mosaic-like anomaly on his right shoulder vanishing. He looked at the heavily wounded Heavenly Scribe before him, his blood still boiling, yet his tone remained lighthearted.
