Multiverse's Holy Right

Chapter 40: [40] The Princess's Abduction

At a modest café along a London street—nothing extravagant, just a common chain—Roy, Erica, and Liliana sat by the window, sipping "commoner's coffee" and sampling cakes that Erica, with her refined tastes, found overly sweet.

Erica and Liliana flanked Roy, their trio drawing the attention of the English gentlemen in the café. Many of the men working on laptops stole frequent glances their way.

Erica embodied the passionate Italian spirit—her golden locks, aristocratic poise, striking beauty, and enviable figure made her shine like a gem, the kind of woman who effortlessly became the center of attention wherever she went.

And beside her was Liliana, whose beauty was of an entirely different kind. With her fair Eastern European complexion, she resembled a delicate porcelain doll—especially when her stern knightly demeanor added an air of noble grace.

Roy, seated between these two contrasting beauties, naturally became the object of envy and surreptitious stares.

But Roy paid no mind to the commoners around them. His gaze was fixed beyond the window, across the street, on a grand building that could only be described as a palace.

"So this is the residence of the Duke Goddodin, huh? Owning a palace in London—even if it's not in the city center—speaks volumes about the duke's ancestral influence."

Roy clicked his tongue in admiration before taking a sip of his plain coffee.

"The Duke Goddodin has close ties to the royal family. This palace is actually royal property. His only daughter, Princess Alice—renowned throughout Europe's magical society—currently lives here... My King, why are we observing from here instead of approaching directly?"

Erica heard Roy's exclamation. Although she wanted to tease him for treating the entire Vatican as his own property now—compared to the Vatican, Duke Goddodin's palatial building was nothing—she suppressed the impulse and briefly explained the glorious history of the duke's ancestors to Roy.

"Before kidnapping the target, we always need to scout the location to ensure everything goes smoothly. That's what we're doing now."

Roy casually answered Erica's question.

"King, shouldn't we simply request a meeting with Princess Alice and have her assist you in completing the ritual?" Liliana couldn't help but ask.

"What if this Princess Alice is unwilling to perform the ritual for me?" Roy countered.

"I believe Princess Alice wouldn't dare refuse the request of the King," Liliana said, expressing her understanding.

"Haha, Lily, you're clever but still a bit naive. Not everyone respects the King, nor will they all obey just because he says so. This Sage Princess has repeatedly interfered with Alexander Gascoigne's affairs. With the Black Prince's precedent, I don't want to deal with a princess who feigns compliance."

Roy laughed heartily, but his expression quickly turned cold. "...So, when dealing with certain people, you must be forceful. Make them fear you, make them understand you can commit the most heinous acts without hesitation. Only then will they be too terrified to resist."

"...Besides, I am the King. Why should I request a meeting? That would only undermine my dignity. When I arrive, our princess should prepare to welcome me with open arms. I'm not Alexander Gascoigne—she won't find me so easy to handle."

"Hmph, two years ago, Marquis Voban went all the way to the Far East to find a miko. If he had come to London to deal with this princess back then, I wouldn't have to work so hard now. No doubt, under the Marquis's... guidance, this Sage Princess would have learned the proper attitude to adopt. Let's go. It's time to meet this princess whose fame eclipses all of Europe."

With that, Roy stood up, pushed open the café door, and strode across the street. Erica followed closely behind, while Liliana hurried to settle the bill.

"King, according to reports from Oceania, Sir Salvatore hasn't found a heretic god and may return to Italy soon," Erica whispered as she walked behind Roy.

"What do you think of Salvatore Doni, Erica? Do you believe he'll be angry that I took what was his?"

"From what I know of Sir Salvatore, he likely wouldn't care about such things... However, he would almost certainly challenge you, King. He's a battle maniac obsessed with the sword."

Erica answered without hesitation, clearly having considered this response long before.

"Hmm, Erica, you're right. That guy is missing a screw in his head. If he comes looking for me, I might as well fight him... I know what you mean. Don't worry, I'm not some demon either. I don't like unnecessary killing when it's not needed. If he wants to fight me, I'll pick a quiet place."

Hearing Roy's evaluation of the Sword King, Erica couldn't help but smile, yet she had to admit he was right. At the same time, Erica felt relieved. When the Seven Sisters Alliance learned that Salvatore was returning to Italy, they urgently notified Erica, hoping she could persuade the new King to minimize the damage to Italian cities.

If two Campiones were to battle in major cities like Rome or Milan, it would be nothing short of a war!

Originally, Erica had been worried about how to persuade a King known for his 'violent temperament' and 'unrestrained ways.' But now it seemed that although this King had some peculiarities in his thinking and actions, he wasn't the type to disregard human lives.

At this moment, Liliana quickly finished settling the bill and jogged to catch up with the two. Upon seeing the hint in Erica's gaze, she felt reassured. As members of a magical organization based in Italy and as Italians themselves, they naturally did not wish for the land and people of Italy to suffer disaster.

"Apologies, but this is private property, not a palace open for public visits. Please leave."

As Roy and the others approached the gates of the palatial building, security personnel stepped forward to stop them.

These guards were ordinary people, with no connection to magic.

Before Roy could speak, Erica and Liliana exchanged a glance. The two girls stepped forward simultaneously and cast suggestion magic, compelling the guards to let them pass. They feared that any defiance from these men toward the King would result in them being turned into pillars of salt.

Under the influence of the suggestion magic, the guards quickly stepped aside, allowing Roy and his group to enter the estate.

Roy was not angered by Erica and Liliana's actions. He understood that the two girls were trying to minimize casualties.

Roy cared only about the outcome, not the process. Whether he slaughtered his way in to meet the Sage Princess or used suggestion magic to walk in peacefully, as long as the result remained unchanged, it made no difference to him.

Nor did Roy dislike the kindness hidden deep within Erica and Liliana's hearts. Whether they were kind-hearted or bloodthirsty killers, as long as they did not defy him, did not act presumptuously, maintained their positions, refrained from overstepping their bounds, and possessed the necessary abilities, they would earn Roy's favor.

Since they possessed such kindness, there was no need to twist their nature—let them nurture this flower of compassion as much as possible.

The path ahead was unobstructed. With the two great knights leading the way, Roy easily passed through the garden and entered the building.

Then, Erica and Liliana's suggestion magic finally failed. A middle-aged woman blocked their path.
