Chapter 114: Preparations
Preparations
There were two reasons as to why the different forces hadn't entered the Realm gate.
The first reason was that the gate wasn't open yet. As it turned out, realm gates weren't always open and would disappear when they were closed. It was assumed that this phenomenon was the way it was because the Realm was regaining energy and redeveloping the resources within.
The only reason it was visible now was because it was about to open.
The second reason was because there was some bias happening. Basically, only the scions and their forces would be able to enter first and would have a head start. So everyone was barred from entering before them.
Meaning if they wasted time, everyone would have no choice but to wait for them. Which would cause dissatisfaction, but no one could do anything. After all, with the power of the Sovereigns on the side of the scions, any sort of dissatisfaction they might feel would only stay as feelings.
'Bias at its finest.' Christopher sighed as he observed the scene from within his Dimension, Aisha still relaying information to him via their link.
It seemed that no matter what, the strong always got the best rights. But it wasn't as if it was some profound discovery, Christopher had known it to be this way since. As such, he was mostly just talking.
Right now his shrunken Dimension was quietly floating among other pieces of space dust near the Realm gate without drawing even the slightest bit of attention to itself.
No one could have ever suspected such a thing happening, so he ran no risk of being discovered. So he was able to spy to his heart's content.
And he was discovering quite a bit.
As it turns out, this dense Supercluster was actually just a part of a much larger force. One belonged to a force that referred to themselves as the watchers. It was a bit daunting, considering that the lineup of people here was already pretty strong, but to know that they were in fact just a slightly small part of a much bigger force was definitely worrying.
Well, that would be the case for most people. Christopher was just a little perturbed, but he lived by his motto of not worrying about things he couldn't currently change.
As such, he focused on the task at hand and what he could do.
The interference brought about by the Realm gate made it difficult to read fate, even for him, so seeing the possible futures and wearing it was out of the question. However, Aisha had no problem observing the past and present, which she was using to feed him information.
At a point, she had stopped talking to him and had just committed to directly sending what she saw to his mind which he digested.
And one of the things he found out which he was glad he did was that when the first person stepped into the Realm gate, there would be a bit of a commotion that couldn't be ignored.
This was important because Christopher planned to zip his Dimension through the gate the instant it came open. But now that he knew what he knew, he now decided that he would let someone else go first. He had no idea if his Dimensional Veil would prevent the Realm gate from detecting his entry. And there was a good chance it would considering it was currently protecting him from the gazes of certain entities, but he preferred to not risk it.
And So he continued to observe.
Another nice thing he noticed was that while the fate of everything in his Dimension was technically cut off from the massive tapestry that proliferates the transparent Realm of existence, it could still interact with fate on the outside with little to no problems.
But the opposite couldn't be said as people who were not a part of his Dimension as far as he could tell were unable to observe of interact with the fate threads that filled it. Which was very convenient as that meant he could influence fate without worrying about being influenced by another being.
That said though, he needed to be careful. He had little doubts as to whether these guys had fate users of their own. And if they were even a little bit competent, they'd be able to detect that something was off with the fate around them even if they couldn't see what. And they'd be able to respond accordingly.
As such, Christopher had restricted Aisha and her sect to simply observing and they were to refrain from manipulating fate outside the Dimension until he gave further notice.
That said, he was starting to get bored.
It was a bit counterintuitive, yes. Especially considering how he had no issue staying within the Primordial Expanse for quite a while without any issues. But now that something potentially entertaining as well as positively exciting was in front of him, he was eager to dive into whatever it was this Realm gate contained.
That said, Christopher wasn't stupid. Obviously, he was making many preparations for himself and his people so that when they entered the Realm gate, things would go as smoothly as possible.
From what he could tell, the place was going to be very cold. After all, if just the excess coldness from the place was freezing over entire celestial bodies in outer space that was said to be -270°C which is meant to be the theoretical coldest something can get. But it was clear that rule only applied to mundane things without science.
In short, the Realm within the Realm gate was going to be terribly cold, and so among the preparations Christopher was currently engaging in, some of the more prominent ones was the creation of items meant to help with dealing with the cold.
However, this was his main body, and his clones were doing their own thing. So how exactly was he creating items?
Well, for starters, besides equipment like armour and charms, potions were also being developed. But that was besides the point.
The Haven of the Enlightened was truly a marvel when it came to its functions. While Christopher was fiddling around with things, one of the functions of the place he discovered was automated production.
Basically, as long as he supplied enough Mana or Void energy, the forges and alchemy workshops could produce things on their own. And these things weren't to be scoffed at either.
People usually attributed automated production of things with inferiority since usually, that meant saving costs to produce barely usable items. But this place was different.
The quality of an item produced depended on the quality of materials and the density of Mana or Void energy fed into the places. And needless to say, high-quality materials as well as dense Mana and Void energy existed within the Primordial Expanse in rich droves.
As such, the items being produced were of Stellar quality, to say the least. Though Christopher made sure to only produce things that matched the strength of his people
And then there was another thing.
Christopher had instructed the twins to start training the army to handle extreme cold. And he had sent a clone which used Dimensional Management to change the area they were using and made it very cold. And then he made the actual training areas to be bitterly cold. He also did things like change the environment to simulate horrible blizzards that restricted ones senses and actively sapped ones body heat, snow that acted like quicksand, hailstorms that could shatter armour, and so on.
He also made the environment quite treacherous for them to, some times they would have to cross towering cliffs and mountain ranges while being assaulted by harrowing constructs of ice, traverse precarious icy floors that could shatter and send one falling into the abyss at any given point, and so on.
It was extremely strict and cruel. But also incredibly effective. Something Christopher noticed was that, probably due to their Affinity to creation and oblivion, his people were very adaptable, and were capable of getting used to the harrowing conditions very quickly.
And due to the slowed time, they had lots of time to get used to the conditions and difficulty.
Christopher also simulated certain things one would expect to find in a Realm gate. Like maybe getting through dangerous zones to retrieve a valuable resource. Or escaping dangerous situations. Things like that.
Of course, those that failed never actually died as they were simply sent back to recuperate before being thrown back into the madness. Whatever pain they felt though was very real.
Still, the progress was palpable and Christopher couldn't help but be fascinated.
If he had to describe it, it would be like one of those army games where he could spend a special currency to speed up his troops' training and unlock special training areas. It was surreal.
'Yeah I'm gonna create the most fearsome force ever seen in the history of existence. The Primordial army? Or the Genesis Corps? What about the Existential Vanguard?' He got giddy thinking about it.
