Chapter 164: The Blizzard II

The Blizzard II

'It's a little earlier than anticipated, but it's inconsequential.' Vazar thought calmly as he stared at the giant Blizzard coming their way.

His group had anticipated the growth of the Blizzard due to certain means, so they had made special preparations for it.

As such, he wasn't perturbed by its appearance and instead welcomed it.

'One of those girls will most likely call for us to conduct the first part of our agreement before the blizzard reaches us. After all, while inside, finding each other to collect the Cryo Cores will be nigh impossible.' He rubbed his chin. However, despite this, he wasn't happy.

The main reason being the people who he now knew to be the Genesis Corps. Even if the blizzard grew a bit faster than they had anticipated, it wasn't a consequential increase, but he couldn't help but wonder if it also had to do with them.

He was all but sure that the chaos that occurred previously was due to their actions, the reason being that they managed to establish contact with the stronghold Silver was in, and not only were they practically unharmed, but they also knew that they were going to be approached by his people, which led him to believe that they had some way to ascertain what was going to happen. Which eerily sounded similar to fate being used.

And why was it that fate became even more scrambled not long after they had been discovered in that case?

While he still didn't want to jump to conclusions, he was about 90% sure they had something to do with it.

That is why he also suspected they had something to do with making the blizzard increase its size faster than he had anticipated. Though he couldn't begin to guess why they would do such a thing, that's why he didn't put all his bets down just yet.

Still, they were a problem, and he wanted to deal with them.

But with the blizzard upon them, there wasn't much he could do in between now and then. So he could only seethe.

"This isn't good." Constella couldn't help but mumble with a small frown as she listened to the report of her handler.

They all knew of the existence of the blizzard, so they had taken the necessary precautions to endure it when they finally encountered it.

However, items capable of resisting existence erasure weren't easy to come across, and finding the ones weaker individuals could use effectively was even harder.

As such, the items they had procured to resist the effects of the blizzard were set to only last for a somewhat limited time, just a bit longer than the anticipated time they had to get through. However, if the blizzard was going to grow larger, that meant the amount of time they had to pass through it would increase, and the results would be that the items they procured to resist its effects wouldn't last long enough, meaning they would eventually have to resist it with their efforts alone, which would almost certainly end badly.

This put Constella in a difficult position, if she chose to go through with the original plan and brave the blizzard, most of her people would die, and even then, the chances of reaching the center were close to zero.

But at the same time, if she decided to retreat, the possibility of the other two Scions going through the Blizzard remained, and if that happened and they succeeded, she would be the one to suffer the consequences.

It was a tough decision.

But in the end, she gritted her teeth.

"Contact Vazar and tell him we're ready to give him the cores we've collected. After that, we're going through the Blizzard at full speed."

Jenny was seething.

She was thinking that her only issues would revolve around her now unusable arms, but the universe just had to screw her over even more.

When Gamma let her know there was danger ahead, she had one of her subordinates who possessed a beast with extremely good eyesight look forward, and that's how she got to know that Blizzard was getting bigger.

'One of the reasons I endured that surprise blizzard on my own was to stop us from having to waste the time we had on those items meant to resist the blizzard in the first place. What do you mean that it's getting bigger?' She was incredibly frustrated, but there wasn't much she could do about it.

Still, she was a bit better off than Constella, mostly because of her turtle.

It had the ability to extend its protection to other people, which would make braving the blizzard possible, even if it was more difficult than before.

But then that raises the question. If it could be defended against, then why did Jenny endure the onslaught of that surprise blizzard instead of just having the turtle protect everyone?

The issue was due to two reasons. First of all, the speed of the turtle would slow down dramatically, so their pace would start to lag behind the other people. Enjoy new stories from My Virtual Library Empire

The second issue was that while protecting everyone, the turtle couldn't perform any other actions. Which included attacking or things like that. In short, it would become a sitting duck if it used that particular skill.

It was one of her most powerful beasts, and she had no intentions of having it taken out for a dumb reason. So, she endured the blizzard as well to prevent it from using that ability.

Still, it seemed like it would need to use it soon, regardless of her efforts.

'Whatever, what has happened has happened. But I'm curious about the Genesis Corps people.' Her thoughts wandered.

The Envoy she sent was met with a very playful and flirty vampire, and she was very strong. Yet the Envoy explained that they had no intention of going through the Blizzard. Which confused her.

She didn't have too much information, but she could tell that as a force, they were strong. But they weren't after the final prize in the center of the hidden realm. In that case, what did they want? It was unnerving, but she didn't have a lot of time to think about it.

Similar to Constella, she recognized that she needed to meet up with Vazar to complete their deal before they plunged into the Blizzard.

She was irritated, but she still knew what she needed to do.

"That's scary," Christopher mumbled as he stared at the wall of snow that was moving towards him.

It didn't take him long to reach the blizzard, mostly because it was moving toward him the same way he was moving toward it.

Now that he was close, he shivered.

Indeed, for the first time since he entered this place, he legitimately felt cold.

This was a cold that affected even Transcendent beings.

He sighed behind his mask. It would seem that he would start getting serious from now.

His pure white clothing was swapped out for his original clothes, and his sheaths were put away as he had no doubt they would start to freeze. This made him return his weapons to their usual tattoo state.

He observed the blizzard for a few moments and considered for a moment before he began to wall. As usual, it seemed like he was walking casually, but he was crossing hundreds of meters with each step.

As a result, it didn't take him long before he was engulfed by the blizzard.

Immediately it happened, Christopher felt his senses start to get cloudy, and his body felt odd.

It was a strange sense of disconnect, like his body wasn't his, or like his soul was leaving his body. It was very strange and difficult to describe.

He sighed and quickly put up all his passive barriers, then he strengthened his connection to fate, and most of all, his Dimension. When he did that, his existence became grounded, and the strange feeling of disconnect he was feeling vanished.

He nodded with satisfaction before frowning immediately.

'It's so dark...' He thought for a moment before snapping his fingers.

Then, a small white lantern the size of a grown man's fist appeared and hung itself on his belt by the chain on the top.

When it appeared, a large area around Christopher was illuminated allowing him to see better.

This lamp was something he created at random. Basically, he considered just creating a bunch of random items he could need during a specific situation if he went somewhere.

This lantern was created when he considered entering a dark place that suppressed his senses. So not only did the lantern illuminate his surroundings, it also boosted his perception and strengthened his senses.

It was also incredibly durable as he imagined hed be using it in places that made things proneto breaking, so he didn't need to worry about it getting damaged.

Satisfied, he started walking, but it didn't take long before he had to draw his weapons again.
