Chapter 108: The Curse II
"This place," Roman began, his voice low and grim, "It's just like I remember... except worse."
"That means we're on the right path," Leon replied, summoning a faint barrier of golden energy around the group to shield them from the dungeon's creeping malevolence.
"So where is she?" Roselia asked.
Roman shook his head. "I... I don't know," he admitted.
Leon raised an eyebrow, astonished. "Don't you always clear this dungeon? How can you not know?"
Roman sighed deeply, his shoulders slumping. "I only ever destroyed it from the outside. I was too much of a coward to see the state my lady was in."
Leon and Roselia exchanged glances, both understanding more about Roman's perspective.
'No wonder he still regards her as a pure soul,' Leon thought, his expression turning grim.
'He doesn't even know what a banshee truly is,' Roselia mused, shaking her head slightly.
They both sighed quietly but didn't press Roman further.
The group continued moving through the dungeon, carefully navigating from one room to another. Each area was vast and eerily silent, the oppressive atmosphere gnawing at their resolve.
"There's no one else here," Leon observed, scanning the surroundings. "No other monsters or enemies have come to harass us so far."
"Yes," Roman confirmed, his tone solemn. "She lives alone."
Leon nodded in understanding as they continued to move. Soon, Leon's Sage Eyes caught something unusual. He stopped in front of a wall, his gaze fixed on it.
"What's this? A secret escape door?" Leon said jokingly.
Roman frowned and stepped closer. "There shouldn't be anything here," he said, his voice tinged with confusion.
"Huh?" Leon tilted his head, stepping back slightly. Using his Sage Eyes, he clearly saw something hidden behind the wall. "No, there's definitely something here," he insisted.
Roman hesitated before examining the wall. Leon pressed his hand against it, revealing a hidden staircase.
"It's like a concealed pathway. Let's head down," Leon said, taking the lead. Roman and Roselia followed closely behind.
The staircase was narrow, barely wide enough for one person, forcing them to proceed single file. It was also dark, prompting Roselia to conjure a soft flame to light their way.
"This place was probably used by the someone recently," Leon muttered, noticing the worn and uneven steps, marked by years of wear.
They descended deeper into the dungeon until an eerie, squelching sound echoed from below. It was a grotesque noise, like flesh being sawed through.
Leon signaled for the group to stop and cast an Epic-Class Silent Veil, a spell that muted their presence, sound, and aura, making them invisible to detection.
The unsettling sound grew louder as they moved cautiously forward. Soon, they reached the end of the staircase and stepped into a dimly lit chamber.
In the center of the room was a breathtakingly beautiful woman in a tattered, blood wet dress. Even in her ghostly state, her beauty was mesmerizing. However, her expression was filled with pleasure, and her actions revealed the horrifying truth. She was cutting a small girl leg with a jagged blade, her lips murmuring unintelligible words, while the girl probably too numbed by pain now just remained there with tear slipping her eyes.
"How... how did she end up like this?" Roman whispered, his voice trembling. He unsheathed his sword and turned to Leon. "Help her—help her get rid of this curse."
Leon studied the banshee silently, his sharp gaze noticing the remnants of her humanity buried deep within her aura. He realized that the scene before them wasn't entirely from her undead existence. It was an echo of her life, she was like this from start.
Still, Leon said nothing to Roman, knowing the man wouldn't believe the truth if he revealed it now.
"Okay," Leon said firmly, stepping closer to the banshee. "We'll help her."
Stepping inside, they were greeted by even more horrifying sights. Children with severed limbs hung from chains, their blood dripping steadily into a massive, dark bathtub. From the constant twitching of their bodies, it was clear that they were still alive, enduring unspeakable torment.
Leon gripped his staff tightly, his knuckles white with the effort. The scene before him stirred something deep within—a cold fury that sent his Berserk Points surging uncontrollably. His eyes turned icy and dangerous, but he forced himself to take a deep breath, using his Sage Mind to calm himself. Even so, his rage simmered beneath the surface.
He turned his focus to the girl, her legs being cut by the so-called lady of the dungeon. The woman's expression was detached, almost as if she were performing a mundane task rather than an act of horrific cruelty.
Leon pointed his staff at the girl. With a sharp chant, he unleashed a legendary-grade spell he had acquired from the shop after donating heavily to the divine sanctuary—Rebirth.
The spell engulfed the girl in golden light, knitting her severed legs back together and restoring her vitality. The magic was powerful enough to fix every injury, though its effects were limited to a single target.
The girl collapsed into a peaceful sleep, her breathing even as the pain left her body.
The Banshee Queen's head snapped up, her expression contorting into an unnatural, rage-filled grimace.
SCREEEEEEEEEEECH!
Her shriek echoed through the chamber, so powerful that it sent waves of energy rippling outward. The sound was deafening and disorienting, a clear sign of her wrath.

"She's not going to let this go easily," Roselia muttered, preparing her staff for combat.
"Good," Leon replied coldly, his staff glowing with another spell. "Neither will I."
The Banshee Queen floated upward, her tattered dress billowing as her aura darkened the room. Her shriek was a warning, she kept looking around yet she wasn't able to find them, as they are still under the Silent veil spell.
Leon didn't looked at her as he continued to cast the spells, first freeing the children and then suing Rebirth to heal them instantly, " get the children aside" he said as Roselia nodded.
