Kael stood before the tower. From afar, it had looked ancient—now, up close, it looked… sentient.

The Chained Tower breathed.

Every so often, a deep metallic inhale passed through the ruined sky as its thousands of links creaked like ribs straining to hold back something monstrous. Black mist poured from slits in its obsidian surface, and strange glyphs pulsated in red beneath the surface.

A new system notification flared:

Mirea stepped beside Kael, her stitched lips trembling.

"He doesn't kill you… not directly. He rewrites you. Turns you into something useful. Something broken."

Tenn tried to hide his fear, but the shaking of his blade betrayed him.

Kael, however, smiled.

"Then let him try."

Scene – Tower Ascension: Floor I – Echo of Collapse

As they entered the base of the tower, time and gravity twisted. The floor bent sideways. Walls reshaped into halls. The first chamber became a rotating library of dead languages—books crying ink, symbols peeling themselves off the pages and crawling onto Kael's skin like insects.

A translucent figure awaited them in the center. An echo of Kael, younger, softer, clean. Untouched by betrayal.

It looked up and whispered, "We could've been something better..."

He turned—half his face melted into static.

"They left me here… discarded. Just like you."

"Do you hear the updates screaming? They never stop patching me…"

His body jolted with error sparks as system notifications spiraled around him endlessly.

Kael's arm ignited in corrupted flame, then plunged into the boss's chest.

"Update this, you bastard."

His voice echoed like a system crash.

Kael stepped forward, no hesitation.

"I'm not your product."

"I'm the virus you failed to contain."
