My Dragon Devouring System

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Sage Tech

Justin blinked against the pale light streaming in through an unfamiliar window. His head pounded, and as he turned, taking in his surroundings, a cold sense of confusion washed over him.

"What the…? Where am I?" The room around him was neat—too neat. The bed beneath him was soft, draped with fresh linens that smelled faintly of lavender. But the setting was all wrong. This wasn't his dingy apartment. Nor was it a hospital. It had the air of something ancient, like a room plucked out of a castle's forgotten wing. Stone walls lined with thick tapestries, heavy wooden furniture, and a distinct lack of modern technology completed the picture.

His chest tightened.

"Am I dead…is this the afterlife?" He pressed a hand to his forehead, recalling the last vivid moments of his life.

"I was… pushed in front of a speeding train," Justin muttered, his voice low with rising fury.

"That bastard Jason. I worked so hard for that promotion... then died before I could even taste it." His hands curled into fists, knuckles white with rage.

'How could everything be taken from me like that' The injustice of it all burned, but there was something gnawing at him, something strange that he couldn't shake off.

"Wait... this voice..." He paused, startled by the sound of his own words. It wasn't right. The pitch, the timbre—it was off.

"This isn't my voice," he whispered, his brows knitting together in confusion.

His eyes darted to a nearby window. He lurched forward, trying to stand, but the moment his feet hit the floor, his legs gave way beneath him, and he crashed to the ground with a thud.

"What the hell!" he gasped, struggling to lift himself. His legs felt foreign, uncoordinated. 'These… these aren't my legs!'

With great effort, Justin managed to pull himself upright, using the edge of a table for support. His heart raced as he stumbled toward the window, desperate to see his reflection. The moment he caught sight of himself, his breath hitched. Staring back at him was a boy—a young, impossibly handsome boy.

His skin was flawless, smooth as porcelain. His face was lean and refined, with sharp cheekbones and striking features that seemed too perfect to be real. His own face, which had once been marred by scars, insect bites and years of wear, was now unrecognizable with a different face.

"W-what the..." His cheeks burned as he reached up, tracing his fingers over his jaw, his nose, his lips. His heart pounded wildly in his chest.

"Who... who is this?"

Suddenly, a voice, strong and distinctly feminine, echoed in his mind.

{Greetings, Master.}

Justin spun around, eyes wide.

 "What the—?! Who said that?!" His gaze darted around the room, but there was no one. He was alone.

{It is I, Master.}

His eyes darted to every corner, searching for a hidden speaker, a person—anything. But the room remained empty.

'Telepathy?' No, the voice didn't sound like it came from around him. It felt as though it had been spoken directly inside his head.

'Could it... could it be coming from my mind?'

{You are correct, Master,}

 the voice responded, calm and certain.

No way… it can hear my thoughts?!

His pulse quickened. "Who… what are you?"

{I am a 5th generation ancient Sage Tech,}

the voice explained.

 {I connect and serve as the core that supports your brain functions.}

"Sage Tech?, come to think of it, her voice sounds like an Ai automated device".

"so how am I here,"?

 {I am here to assist and guide you, Master. You have been reincarnated into another world.}

Justin's breath caught in his throat. "Reincarnated?" he echoed. The pieces began to click into place. He had been pushed, killed, and now… here he was, in a strange new body, in a world that wasn't his own.

 His gaze flickered back to the reflection in the window.

"If I've been reincarnated…" His voice came out hoarse. "Then whose body is this?"

{Allow me to search the memories of the previous soul, Master,}

Justin's heart thudded loudly in his chest. 'Previous soul? Does she mean the person I've reincarnated into?'

{Correct,}

the voice chimed.

 {Master, I am preparing to transfer the memories of this body's former owner directly into your brain. Will you accept?}

A wave of uncertainty gripped him, but Justin nodded slowly. "Y-yeah, I accept," he said, bracing himself.

In the next moment, it felt as though lightning had struck his mind. The pain was instant and overwhelming, like a thousand needles driving into his skull. He collapsed to the floor, gasping, clutching his head as waves of nausea rolled over him.

"umph...blegh!" He gagged, his body convulsing as he vomited onto the stone floor. The memory transfer was brutal, flooding his brain like a violent torrent.

{This reaction is normal for a first-time information transfer,}

the Sage Tech reassured him, though her voice did little to comfort him.

{You will not experience dizziness or nausea with future transfers.}

Justin coughed, wiping his mouth as he leaned against the wall, still feeling the effects of the transfer.

 "I… I feel like my head's going to explode," he muttered, eyes squeezed shut against the dizzying swirl of memories.

But slowly, the haze began to clear. Images flashed in his mind, memories that weren't his own, but now felt as though they had always been a part of him.

"So… I'm the tenth young master of the Cullen Clan," he murmured, realization dawning on him.

"One of the most powerful clans in the kingdom of Zebedonia…"

Before he could process this fully, the door to the room burst open with a loud crash. A girl, no older than twenty one, rushed in, carrying a basin of water and clean towels. She stopped dead in her tracks the moment her eyes fell on him, her expression frozen in shock. The basin slipped from her hands, clattering to the floor, water spilling everywhere.

"Y-young master!" she gasped, her voice trembling. Tears welled in her eyes, spilling down her cheeks.

"Y-you're awake!"
