My Gender Bend Harem: Starting from Chainsaw Man

Chapter 33: Chapter 34: Shattered Heart

"Hey, hey~ Renji Kuroda~ As a welcome ritual for newcomers~ Let's kiss~"Himeno suddenly leaned against Renji in an almost provocative manner, her eyes fixed on him, glistening and hazy with a fervent light.

As she spoke, her pink lips neared Renji's ear. He could feel her breathing grow heavy, each exhale carrying an unspeakable emotion.Whether intentionally or not, her breath flowed right into his ear, brushing against the sensitive inner folds and sending an uncontrollable shiver down his spine.

This scene, under normal circumstances, would be quite alluring—But Renji was startled.

In the original story, anyone kissing Himeno at this moment would most likely be treated to a sudden serving of Himeno's vomit.

Just as he was about to gently push her away, a soft, composed voice reached his ear from the opposite side.

That voice, too, carried a faint breath that brushed against his ear, sending another ticklish wave across his entire body.Renji could barely take it anymore.

"Ma... Miss Makima, good evening..."

Kobeni timidly leaned to the side and gave Makima a nervous wave.

Makima nodded gracefully, removed her black coat, neatly folded it, and took the seat Hayakawa Aki had just vacated for her.She ordered a cold beer, her voice calm and clear.

"Renji, you want to kiss? With whom?"

Renji's gaze drifted to Himeno's flushed, slightly drunken face. He hesitated.

Himeno did look tempting in her current state...But Renji absolutely did not want to taste vomit.

"Himeno-senpai, but I think I'd rather not..."

He politely refused.

However, before the words had fully left his mouth, three crisp system notifications rang out in his mind:

Ding~ Detected Himeno's disappointed emotion. System rewards 10 points.Ding~ Detected Himeno's disappointed emotion. System rewards 10 points.Ding~ Detected Himeno's lost emotion. System rewards 10 points.

"Eh... how could this be..."

A flash of disappointment passed over Himeno's face. Her charming gaze dimmed as she took another deep gulp of beer.

Getting three back-to-back system notifications was rare—it usually only happened when someone's emotions hit their peak, veering into obsession... and then failed to be realized.

Renji was confused.Did Himeno really want to kiss him that badly?

In the original storyline, she had a habit of kissing people when drunk—it wasn't personal, just part of her routine.Yet now, it felt like she needed to kiss him.

Something didn't feel right. It was as if Himeno was seeking a very specific experience through kissing Renji.

To test this theory, he glanced at Power, then casually said:"If you go to the toilet and throw up a little first, then maybe I'll consider it..."

As soon as he spoke, another system message popped up:

Ding~ Detected Himeno's nervous emotion. System rewards 10 points.

"Toi... toilet? What toilet?"

Himeno seemed to snap to full awareness, startled, and abruptly lowered the beer in her hand. But in less than a second, she returned to her original posture—chugging the beer like nothing had happened.

The speed of that shift was nearly acrobatic. Renji couldn't help but laugh out loud.

If Himeno really had been the one peeking at him and Denji during the Eternal Devil incident, then she was truly a world-class actress.

Ding~ Detected Himeno's uncomfortable emotion. System rewards 10 points.

"Oh no!"

Suddenly, Himeno spun around and clutched Renji's shoulders tightly, her eyes wide and filled with distress.

"Renji! Toilet! Why did you say the word toilet?! I... I'm gonna... Ugh...!"

Her cheeks puffed out, and a trail of snot escaped her nose as the unmistakable smell of nausea hit Renji's nostrils like a truck.

"Hey, hey, hey! Don't vomit! Don't vomit! Don't vomit!"

..."Ugh...! Ugh... Ugh!"

Himeno knelt by the toilet, gripping the seat for dear life, vomiting violently.

The sound of her retching echoed harshly, each splash into the toilet bowl making Renji's skin crawl with goosebumps.

He stood nearby, awkwardly patting Himeno's back in a rhythm meant to ease her through it.

"See? Now you know exactly why I said no."

Himeno raised her tear-streaked face, gasping for breath.

"That... that was incredible... Ugh...!"

She hadn't even finished her sentence before another violent wave of vomit hit, her body convulsing as if her internal organs were staging a rebellion.

"Alright, alright, stop talking. Let's get everything out of your stomach first."

After a while, Himeno finally recovered. She raised her head, wiped the sweat from her forehead, and a trace of relief flickered across her face.

The two of them washed up at the sink. Renji Kuroda cleaned his face with a disposable towel.

"Let's go."Renji shut off the faucet and took a few steps toward the door.

"Renji, thank you."

Himeno's voice came from behind—calm, composed.But she didn't follow.

Renji turned back, puzzled. Himeno remained by the sink, hands still submerged in the water.

The restroom was quiet. Droplets of water slowly formed on the faucet, falling into the basin below, each one loud enough to hear.

She stared downward, eyes dulled, lost in her own thoughts. Her words seemed more like a soliloquy than a conversation.

"You, Power, and Denji—you're like Arai and Kobeni were before. The newest recruits. Numbers nine, ten, and eleven."

Her tone was neutral, as if recalling some faded memory.

"Hmm? Oh, I know. Makima-san mentioned it to me." Renji raised an eyebrow. "Why bring it up now?"

He could sense something was off.

Himeno slowly lifted her head, eyes still fixed on her reflection in the mirror. Her voice was hollow, distant.

"Thanks to you, the new recruits didn't die this time. To be honest... back there, I thought it was the end. I really thought we were all going to die."

Ding~ Detected Himeno's helpless emotion. System rewards 20 points.

In that moment, Renji understood.

This wasn't just a simple thank-you.Himeno was showing her vulnerability. Behind the calm tone, behind the joke and beer, was someone trying to stay afloat.

In the original timeline, Himeno's partners kept dying—again and again. That trauma had stacked, quietly collapsing her from the inside out.Back when they were trapped by the Eternal Devil, Renji realized, Himeno might've faced that breakdown all alone—Just like now, standing paralyzed in front of the mirror, watching herself dissolve into helplessness.

In the canon story, it was Aki who helped her out of that downward spiral. But in this version of events, that rescue never came.

Renji wanted to comfort her. He opened his mouth—But no words came out.

He wasn't a therapist. In his world, he'd never faced something like this.

Then, just as suddenly, Himeno slipped back into her usual tone. She turned toward him with a soft smile.

"But hey, you showed up with some crazy divine powers and saved everyone."She winked. "Pretty cool of you. Just do me a favor—keep that up. Don't suddenly drop dead on the next mission, okay?"

Renji looked at that smile, his heart a swirl of emotions.

Himeno walked up, patted his shoulder lightly.

"Alright, alright~ Don't get so serious. I'm just thanking you, that's all. As your senior, giving you a little pep talk. Let's go."
