Chapter 228: Chapter 227: Father Was Attacked!
As the battle continued, the golden sand surged forward, finally encircling the winged man and his companion in its center. Kaminari, shrouded in crackling golden electricity, glared at them coldly.
"Be glad," Kaminari said, his voice low and unyielding. "If it weren't for these ridiculous laws, you'd all be dead by now."
His tone carried a sharp edge of irritation. He was growing increasingly tired of the legal restrictions in this world. It wasn't that he wanted to kill anyone, but in a world like One Piece or Naruto, there'd be no need for such hesitation. There, he could end a fight decisively without worrying about repercussions.
"Phantom! Stop standing there like a useless idiot!" the winged man shouted, his tone sharp with desperation. "Use your Quirk and control him! Just one second is all I need!"
The winged man zigzagged through the air, dodging streams of golden sand that relentlessly pursued him. But no matter how agile his movements were, he couldn't break past Kaminari's perimeter. Every time he tried to escape, Kaminari would transform into golden lightning and intercept him with ease.
"Do you think I haven't tried?!" Phantom shouted back, his voice filled with frustration. He was sweating heavily, his face tense. Ever since Kaminari had activated his electricity, Phantom's Quirk had been completely ineffective.
Suddenly, both villains froze. Their expressions shifted as they registered the distant wailing of sirens.
"The police…" Phantom muttered.
"It seems your time is running out," Kaminari remarked, his tone calm but laced with an icy chill. He glanced down at the swirling golden sand and frowned slightly. "Still too slow."
He sighed inwardly but quickly dismissed the thought. It wasn't as if the golden sand needed to be perfect.
"Damn it!" the winged man cursed as the sirens grew louder. In a desperate move, he released his grip on Phantom, allowing him to fall.
"Sorry…"
Whoosh!
"Ahhh! You'll regret this!" Phantom roared as he plummeted toward the ground, but his cries were ignored by the winged man, who surged forward with a burst of speed.
The winged man's body blurred as he shot forward like a streak of white light, his speed more than doubling. In the blink of an eye, he broke past the golden sand.
"You think speed will save you?" Kaminari sneered, his voice filled with disdain.
With a crackling burst of electricity, Kaminari transformed into golden lightning, effortlessly overtaking the fleeing villain. He stopped five meters ahead of him, blocking his path.
"You're not going anywhere—"
But before he could finish his sentence, the winged man suddenly stopped mid-air. His expression turned blank, his body stiff. Without a word, he spun around and began flying back toward Phantom.
"What… is this?" Kaminari blinked, confused by the sudden turn of events. Then he noticed the winged man carrying Phantom in a princess-style hold, and the pieces clicked into place.
"Oh… I see," Kaminari muttered, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. "Phantom used his Quirk on you, huh?"
The sight was almost comedic. The fierce winged man was now obediently flying back, carrying Phantom in an oddly affectionate pose.
"If we're going down, you're coming with me!" Phantom cackled, his voice filled with manic glee.
"Looks like I misjudged who the real boss was," Kaminari said with a shake of his head, sighing in exasperation.
Golden sand surged forward, wrapping around both villains and restraining them completely. Phantom's laughter faded, and the winged man's glare returned as he regained control of his body.
"You actually used your Quirk on me?!" the winged man growled, his face twisted with rage.
"You act like this is the first time I've done it," Phantom replied with a mocking smirk.
As the two began bickering, Kaminari ignored them and directed the sand to lower them back to the ground.
"Pika!"
Pikachu ran up to Kaminari, leaping onto his shoulder with a proud expression. It pointed triumphantly at the defeated villains, its cheeks sparking faintly.
"Well done," Kaminari said, rubbing Pikachu's head affectionately. He treated Pikachu less like artificial intelligence and more like a trusted partner.
Once the situation was under control, the arriving professional Heroes and police officers handcuffed the villains. They checked the criminals for injuries, following protocol to ensure Kaminari wouldn't need to accompany them to the station for further questioning.
Thirty minutes later, Kaminari finally returned home. It was around 10:30 p.m.—the latest he'd been out in years.
He didn't mention the attack to his parents. Instead, he casually brought up his meeting with Dr. Tenma before heading straight to the bathroom for a shower. Pikachu, meanwhile, curled up on the sofa and pretended to sleep.
"Should we tell him what happened?" Kaminari's mother whispered, leaning closer to her husband as the sound of running water came from the bathroom.
"Tell him what? What good would it do to worry him unnecessarily?" Kaminari's father replied, frowning. His voice was low, but firm. "I've already told Snatch to keep it a secret, so make sure you don't let anything slip either."
Earlier that day, while on his way home from work, Kaminari's father had been attacked by five villains attempting to kidnap him. His expensive car had been completely destroyed during the confrontation.
Fortunately, Snatch had been there to protect him, using a sand clone technique Kaminari had taught him. In the end, Snatch managed to fight off the villains and even capture one of them, but the experience had been harrowing.
Although Kaminari's father had composed himself quickly, the attack had left a lingering sense of unease.
"But what about the car?" his wife asked, her worry evident. "Won't Kaminari notice it's missing?"
"I'll just tell him I want to buy a better one and that the old car will be used as a company vehicle," he replied smoothly. "He rarely visits the office anyway, so he won't think much of it."
"Still, it doesn't feel right to keep this from him," she said, her voice tinged with hesitation. "If it happened once, it could happen again. What if—"
"Life is full of risks," Kaminari's father interrupted, his tone calm but resolute. "There will always be dangers. But telling him now will only make things worse. What if he acts impulsively and does something reckless?
"We'll wait until he gets his Hero license. Until then, we keep this between us."
His wife sighed, reluctantly nodding. "Alright. But you'd better be careful. Kaminari and I can't lose you."
"I know. And I can't lose you two either," he replied softly.
