My Hero Academia: Thunder God

Chapter 364: Chapter 363: Kaminari’s Growth Data!

The shuriken technique mentioned by Edgeshot most likely referred to the "shuriken technique" Kaminari had casually brought up during their time in the Aokigahara Sea of Trees.

It was an advanced technique from the world of Naruto, where shurikens collided mid-air to alter their trajectory a second or even third time.

If one reached the level of Uchiha Itachi, they could even strike from the front into the blind spot of a moving target—like from behind.

It was a technique so precise and fast that it was practically impossible to dodge.

But Kaminari had only brought it up as a joke at the time. When Edgeshot said he couldn't replicate it, Kaminari didn't think much of it. After all, if a ninja master couldn't do it, what was there to be hopeful about?

"I wonder if the 'shuriken technique' he developed is different from the one I had in mind..."

Having already soaked in the hot springs, Kaminari lay sprawled on the bed, thinking to himself.

He wondered: if this 'Shuriken Technique' really worked, how could it benefit him? And how should he apply it?

The technique was mainly for long-range attacks, but now that he had the ability to control electricity, it seemed a bit redundant.

"Shurikens and all… other than looking cool, what else are they good for?"

But if shuriken techniques were truly useless, then why did both Uchiha Itachi and Uchiha Sasuke still use them later on? With these questions in mind, Kaminari gradually drifted into sleep.

The next morning, on the second day of their dorm training camp, at only 5:30 a.m., all twenty students in Class A were mercilessly called outside by Mr. Aizawa.

Some were still groggy and clearly not used to it.

"Good morning, everyone."

"Today marks the official start of the intensive training camp. The purpose of this camp is to strengthen your abilities and prepare you to obtain your Provisional Hero Licenses."

Class teacher Aizawa, with his eyes half-closed as always, wore his typical black outfit, black pants, and signature white capture scarf. His hands were tucked in his pockets.

"Provisional license…" Kaminari's eyes flickered. He had applied for a Hero License precisely to get the Provisional License, but ultimately, his goal was to earn the full Professional Hero License.

"This is necessary to deal with the increasingly hostile atmosphere in society. So you'd better push yourselves to improve."

As he finished speaking, Aizawa turned to Bakugo and casually tossed over a white ball.

"This is…" Bakugo glanced down and immediately recognized it. Wasn't this the same ball they used to test throwing distance at the beginning of the school year?

"You can throw it now."

"I remember your record when you first entered school was 705.2 meters. Let's see how much you've improved," Aizawa said flatly.

"Woooh! Time to see some growth!" Ashido cheered excitedly for Bakugo.

"A lot has happened over these past three months. I bet you'll break 1,000 meters!" Sero grinned.

"Yeah, he's definitely improved. I know how hard Bakugo's been training. Go for it, Bakugo!!" Kirishima shouted with his fist raised.

For a moment, everyone—including Kaminari and Midoriya—focused their attention on Bakugo, imagining how much they themselves had improved as well.

"Then… watch this."

Bakugo gripped the white ball tightly, a fierce grin forming on his face. In the next instant, as his right arm swung forward, an explosion of fire and sound erupted from his palm.

Boom—!

"DIE!!!"

The ball, slightly larger than a baseball, shot into the dense morning sky with tremendous force generated by the explosion.

The hot wind from the blast blew across everyone's faces, but all eyes remained locked on Aizawa.

Three seconds later, just as Bakugo recovered his stance, Aizawa called out the results—data that left Bakugo dumbfounded.

"743.4 meters."

"Huh? That's… lower than I expected," Kirishima said, puzzled.

"It's been three months since school started. And while you've certainly experienced a lot and grown mentally, physically, and technically…"

Aizawa put away the rangefinder and walked toward the group with his hands in his pockets.

"Your Quirks, as you just saw, haven't improved much."

"So from now on, we'll focus on training your Quirks. It's going to be brutal—so tough you'll wish you were dead. Just don't actually die during training."

Aizawa suddenly smiled as he said this and glanced over at Kaminari, who stood between Kyoka and Momo.

"Of course, there are some individuals who've already been doing Quirk training. But that doesn't exempt them from this exercise."

At his words, everyone followed his gaze and looked at Kaminari. At that moment, Tetsutetsu offered a suggestion: "Then let's have Kaminari throw the ball, too—so we can compare someone who has been training their Quirk to someone who hasn't."

"Dammit…" Bakugo scowled at the idea.

"Good suggestion."

Since Mr. Aizawa approved, Kaminari had no choice but to step up and accept the second ball he produced out of nowhere.

"Well, should I get some BGM going to hype me up? Maybe it'll boost my stats a little." Kaminari joked while looking at the ball in his hand.

"…"

There was a brief silence. Momo even rubbed her forehead in embarrassment. This was typical Kaminari—mature one moment, childishly silly the next.

"Don't waste time. Throw it." Aizawa said flatly. Kaminari just shrugged and walked forward.

"What was Kaminari-chan's record at the start of the year?" Asui asked, tilting her head.

"I vaguely remember it being around three or four hundred meters…" Iida replied uncertainly.

Midoriya responded seriously, "412.7 meters! That was Kaminari-kun's result while using his 'High-Speed Movement Mode'."

Kaminari walked about ten meters ahead toward the hill, then stopped and bounced the ball in his hand. After gauging its weight and grip, his expression sharpened.

First, he entered High-Speed Movement Mode, golden electricity flowing across his entire body.

Crack!!

With a sudden thunderclap, golden sparks surrounded Kaminari as his blond hair stood on end—he looked incredibly cool.

As for why he didn't start off in this form? Obviously, it was for dramatic effect.

"Here it comes—it's High-Voltage Mode!"

Tetsutetsu, ever the supportive friend, served as commentator for Kaminari's entrance.

The next moment, Kaminari raised his right arm, and the white ball, wrapped in golden light, shot out like a meteor.

He narrowed his eyes as he tracked the golden flash speeding through the sky. He had gone all out on this throw.

He didn't use the Railgun technique this time on purpose—he wanted to see just how far he could go with his own strength.

Unlike with Bakugo, it took four or five seconds for the result to appear on Aizawa's device.

But when it did, Aizawa's eyes flickered briefly before he calmly announced: "823.6 meters."

"WHOA WHOA WHOA!"

The crowd erupted in shock. Everyone knew Kaminari had gotten stronger. They'd seen his performance.

But no one expected him to surpass Bakugo Katsuki in raw explosive power.

Bakugo's Quirk—Explosion—was known for its overwhelming power, and that was exactly what this test was measuring.

(Uraraka's gravity-nullification method was, of course, a unique exception.)

But this result proved that under High-Voltage Electric Shock Mode, Kaminari could go head-to-head with Bakugo's Quirk in a pure power matchup!

"So many variables…" someone murmured.

As for Kaminari himself, he wasn't too surprised. High-Voltage Mode was already a 1.5x to 2x boost over God-Speed, and with his physical conditioning as a bonus.

(To be continued.)
