Jin clenched his teeth, looking at the panel.
Earlier, when the parachute opened up, he got this mission, and since then, he's been in a frustrated mood.
He had initially planned to kill Ice the moment they landed.
To be fully at the mercy of someone was not a good feeling at all. And that's what he felt earlier.
Throughout their descent, Jin was tensed with his eyes always focused on Ice's hand, which was holding the rip cord.
So, knowing that he couldn't kill her only increased his frustration.
"And what's with these missions not giving me any rewards nowadays?" Jin muttered in frustration as he made his way towards the Oasis.
A few seconds later, he and the others saw a helicopter, the one in which they were before, landing near the Oasis.
A few men came out, and after placing all their luggage out, they got back into the helicopter and left.
Jin squinted his eyes and could see a person standing beside their luggage when the dust settled.
'That must be the old man from earlier,' Jin thought as he increased his pace.
After walking another mile, he finally reached the spot where the old man was waiting.
One guy who was wearing spectacles had arrived before Jin. He wore spectacles, had grey hair and seemed to be between 35-40 years.
Seeing that the guy was just standing silently in front of the old man, Jin also did just that and waited.
A youth, around nineteen years old with red striking hair, was next to arrive.
Next was Ice, who was clearly in a sour mood. Wanting to stay away from Jin, she went beside the red-haired brat and stood there.
Whistle
"Quite a figure you got," The red-haired youth snickered.
"I'll rip that mouth of yours if you say anything more," Ice took out her knife and warned him.
"Try me, you bitch," The youth too took out his knife and was getting ready when they heard a shot being fired.
A bullet pierced the sandy ground between Ice and the youth. Dark smoke with a gunpowder-like smell rose from the hole.
"Stay quiet for now, you can settle your disputes later," The old man said, and the issue was resolved.
Soon, the last man they had been waiting for came. He was in his late twenties and had black hair reaching his earlobes. He had a normal build, and the same could be said about his face.
His white shirt was torn from the bottom, and that piece was wound around his thigh. He kept dragging his injured leg and finally made it to the spot.
"I'm not late, right?" He chuckled as he joined them.
"Alright, since you all are here, let me begin with your briefing." The old man folded his hands and continued, "My name is John Brown, and I'm going to be your instructor in the following three months. This training academy aims to make you a top-class Assassin."
Seeing the bored, unimpressed gazes from everyone, Brown chuckled and said, "I can see your gazes filled with overconfidence, and as an instructor, what I love the most is shattering them."
He then pointed towards someone, "You, the one with red hair. Take out your gun and point it towards me."
The youth furrowed his brows but took out his gun the next moment.
"Now, whenever you feel like it, shoot at me," Brown said.
"You really want to die by my hands, old man?" The youth joked.
"Don't worry. With your skills, you can't kill me," Brown snickered, successfully making the youth angry.
"Don't blame me in hell then you bastard," Just like the colour of his hair, the youth was hot-tempered. He shot the gun the next moment.
Bang!
Brown stood there unharmed.
"You can't even aim properly, just how did you qualify to attend this academy?" Brown made fun of the youth once again.
"You!" Angered and confused, what followed next was a torrential rain of bullets towards Brown.
Bang! Bang! Bang!...
However, to everyone's surprise, Brown just stood there totally unharmed.
'Just what the hell is going on here?' Jin thought in astonishment. It was the same for others.
"His feet…" Jin heard the muttering of the spectacled man standing next to him.
Jin too shifted his focus on Brown's feet and saw the sand shifting as dust started rising from there, but throughout this time, Brown's feet appeared to be staying in the same position.
"How is this possible…" Jin's eyes widened at the realisation, and it was the same for others who were witnessing this scene.
Tick! Tick!
The magazine was emptied, but still no traces of blood could be seen on Brown.
'Just what is going on?' Confident in his shooting skills, the youth was having a mental breakdown when he saw Brown's figure disappearing, and the next moment, he felt a cold blade resting on the back of his neck.
The youth slowly turned his head back and saw Brown's face looking at him with amusement.
"Pretty amateur," Brown gave a familiar chuckle, took the blade back and walked back to his original position.
"Impossible! That's impossible," The youth roared in shock and anger.
Brown then looked at others. Their eyes shared similar sentiments. Satisfied, he finally said with seriousness, "Impossible? That's a word only those who have never truly tested their limits would say. Starting tomorrow, it would be my job to bring you to the brink of your limits and make you overcome it."
Sensing the aura of seriousness emitting from him, everyone became serious. Some, like Jin, who thought they already knew more than enough, had a shift in their mindset and wanted to learn more.
Glancing at the eager eyes, Brown nodded in his heart and said, "That's about it with the briefing. See that mud-hut over there? That's my house. As for you all," Brown glanced at his wrist watch and continued, "It's eleven in the morning, that's enough time for you guys to make a shelter with the resources in this Oasis. Good luck."
With that said, Brown turned towards his hut and started walking, but stopped midway and turned around. "And your meals will arrive by tomorrow morning, so until then, fill your stomach by yourself. Assemble here tomorrow at 8 AM"
'Aren't they way too cheap for an academy?' Jin thought, and so did the rest.
Carrying their luggage, they moved towards the pond to make a shelter near it.
