Chapter 29: Not All That Glitters
"Good morning Zack..."
The morning was fresh, and Maximus lay on his silky sheets with his heated room and the suns rays filtering through the curtains of his room.
His voice was still groggy and his eyes drapped with eye bags from last nights sleep.
"Good morning, Maxi boy!" Zack replied with his usual enthusiastic tone.
"Don't be too loud, I just woke up..."
"Oh, my bad partner... Whachu got for me..."
Maximus rain a dry hand through the his messy braids as he thought for a few seconds before speaking.
"I have arranged the rest of the investment money and more for the completion of the resort... I will send you the funds now..."
"Really! That's good news Max!" Zack replied with clear glee etched in his voice.
"Yes it is good news buddy, so the rest of the work is up to you to complete... And we can officially open in the next six months as planned. "
"Whop whop! Boy we are on fire here!" Zack yelled into the speaker of the phone causing Maximus to move his head a couple centimeters in discomfort.
"Are you drunk?" Maximus asked nonchalantly.
"Uhhh... Kinda, but I'm fine... Once I get up and discharge my mistresses I'll get to work bro"
"Sounds good... Please drop updates for me, I'll still come by the site to check once in a while..."
"Roger that... In the meantime, what will you be up to?".
Maximus remained silent for a second, he did have alot and nothing to do at the same time. For clearance, his Mobile kitchen business was going smoothly as predicted and he still wanted to use the money form selling his last apartment complex to buy another one and renovate it as well.
"Hmmm, I still have my existing businesses to observe and maybe pick up something new..."
"Okay, bro Godspeed..."
*Beep!
The line went cold.
Maximus stared into open space for a long time, his mind going through a series of highlights from his time when he was living in a boxy apartment and had motivation whatsoever.
He chuckled softly, "Who the hell is going to believe when I tell them my life changed all because of a mysterious pill I swallowed..."
Then his brain shifted to something clearer immediately...
"Even so, I've never stopped to thing about how that pill made it to my door step... Where did it come from and who sent it..."
He sat up on his bed, leaning against the head board. His head tilted slightly in thought.
Then—
"Come Forth..."
Tti-ring!
The Investment God System came to life with its signature silver futuristic interface.
"Hmmm... I already know it would ignore me if I ask... If it wanted me to know, it would have told me a long time ago..."
He scratched the bridge of his nose and then shook his head to repurpose his thinking.
~New Business Domain~
~Resort Investment is underway and will soon be established ~
~ROI> 80%~
~Business Partner Detected> Zack Zimmerman (Holds 20% Ownership rights)
~XP Points accumulated> 60%~
"I see... Because I have shared ownership my XP points are literally halved, cause we are 80% completion and the XP should be at 80-90%"
"It's gonna take a while to complete this investment... In the meantime I should take on something else".

"Sir, you have spent quite some time looking at my wares. Have you decided what you want to purchase?" The shop owner of a decorated Antique shop asked Maximus as he had spent an hour and half looking around, examining his items in detail.
It had been several days since he carried on his investment with Zack Zimmerman and now he was looking for the next booming thing.
The system had given him a recommendation— Antiques Industry.
He knew a thing or two about antique wares but he wasn't a 'guru' per say.
So here he was now, beginning a new investment to carry on once his resort investment hit the ground running.
From Maximus's appearance, the the shop owner had a hunch that he was one of those antique enthusiasts that knew nothing about antiques at all, but wanted to hit big with luck.
Meanwhile, Maximus didn't know much but he wasn't totally ignorant either.
Without the luxury to use his newly acquired skill to discern the authentic antiques with the counterfeits that were mass produced every day, he was stuck in the worst position.
Whether it be through reselling of both authentic and counterfeit antiques, the system only it as a business transaction if the price he sold the item for was higher than the cost price.
Therefore, he needed to find an authentic antique through the mountain of junk at a low cost and resell it for the system to recognize it.
"Sorry, I'm almost done..." Maximus replied with a coy smile.
Then, ll of a sudden, he caught something with the side of his eye, something unique.
Immediately, he grabbed the the item and started observing it with keen focus.
It was a wooden horse made of modern dark wood. The horse was roughly the size of a humans palm.
What mad it unique to him was the poor craftsmanship of the item and how crudely made it was.
When placed together with the rest of the attractive counterfeit antiques that the vendor was trying to sell, it stood out like a sour thumb.
"Hey, shop owner, what's the story with this artifact?" Maximus asked the vendor while holding up the object.
"You mean that horse." The shop owner squinted his eyes and observed Maximus for a while before replying.
"That belongs to the great family of Harlem, passed down by my great grandfather. It was a palace toy that was played by the famous emperor Druisi around 500A.D!"
"...If you like it, I can sell it for you about thirty thousand dollars. No more and No less..."
"Come one now, you know that's a bullshit story..." Maximus chuckled softly. It was obvious the vendor was trying to jack up prices to fool am ignorant customer like him.
Nonetheless, it was an unspoken rule in the antique world that once a transaction was completed, it would be final even if the item is a counterfeit...
'...This is because the value of an artifact varies for different people after all...' Maximus knew this much and wasn't going to let the vendor dupe him for thirty thousand.
'Should I use the Eye Of Apollo skill on this horse?" Maximus pondered for a while.
He had never for once use his new skill since acquiring it, but now seemed like the perfect time to try it out.
Compared to the obvious counterfeit around him, the ugly antique was much more intriguing to him. He wanted to see what's the deal with this horse.
He glanced at the already active Investment God System's interface.
"Shimmer..."
