Chapter 624: Cleansing the Dark Power of Evil God - Part 2
*Whoosh!*
The surge of holy and chaos power stirred the pool of black liquid.
Its surface shivered, ripples rapidly swelling into crashing waves. Moments later, four water dragons burst forth from the depths.
Just like the water dragons Astra had once summoned under the dark power's control, these creatures showed fierce hostility—directed not just at Leon, but at the holy and chaos powers radiating from him.
Without hesitation, they lunged toward Leon with jaws wide open.
But how could Leon stand by and do nothing?
With Miranda's help, he channeled the holy and chaos powers surging from his body straight toward the crater.
*Boom!*
The clash between the water dragons and the combined forces unleashed a powerful explosion that shook the surroundings.
The four dragons shattered into pieces, while the holy and chaos powers spread out, enveloping the entire crater.
The dark power trapped within began to weaken, slowly purified by their combined force.
It resisted, as if conscious, but its struggle was in vain.
How could it stand against the holy and chaos powers controlled by Leon himself?
After fifteen long minutes, the dark power began to recede—its fading clear even to the naked eye—until it vanished completely.
Leon opened his eyes and sighed with relief.
"Phew... That was exhausting—even more than when I purified the dark power inside the dragon ancestor," he muttered with a weary smile.
Compared to this, the dark power lodged in the dragon ancestor was barely half as strong.
It was easy to imagine just how much dark power had been eating away at the World Tree for thousands of years.
"Your control over the forces of chaos has improved drastically, Master. It's truly impressive," Miranda praised with admiration.
Leon rubbed his nose sheepishly. "Yes... I've been practicing secretly and studying the Codex of Noctis left by the Demon Emperor Amon Crimson."
No matter how busy he was, Leon always made time to train.
After all, his enemy was the Evil God. If he didn't give everything to grow stronger, how could he possibly win?
Miranda chuckled softly, her joy clear.
"You really are dedicated, Master. Don't worry—I'm sure you'll overcome every obstacle and defeat the Evil God!" She said excitedly.
"Thank you!" Leon nodded firmly and slowly stood up.
"You're really good, Leon!" Astra's encouraging voice came from behind him.
Turning to her, Leon smiled. "Thanks for the compliment, Astra. So, there are still three more places, right? Show me where they all are."
"Okay!" Astra nodded eagerly, a bright smile lighting her lips.
It was easy to see how happy and excited Astra was as she watched the dark power in the crater vanish.
Afterward, Astra led Leon to a hill about two hundred meters away from their previous location.
The hill was quite tall—about forty meters—but instead of grass and trees, its surface was covered with a pitch-black liquid—the dark power.
"This dark power is stronger and far more concentrated than the one in the crater," Leon muttered under his breath.
Astra caught his words and nodded.
"You're right, Leon. It's at least twice as much," she said with a smile. "But I'm sure you can handle it."
Leon chuckled softly but said nothing. He stepped closer to the hill and stopped five meters away.
As before, he sat cross-legged and pressed his palms together.
*Boom!*
Holy and chaos powers exploded from his body, surging toward the hill.
This time, the dark power made no counterattack—it simply stood firm, as if trying to delay the purification.
Because the dark power was far more abundant, the purification took much longer.
After thirty grueling minutes, the dark power was finally completely cleansed.
"Hah... Hah... Hah..." Leon panted heavily, sweat soaking through his robes.
He rubbed his forehead and shook his head slightly. "My control over chaos power still needs improvement."
Although he could now wield both powers simultaneously, he remained heavily dependent on Miranda's support.
Even with her help, the effort was exhausting.
But Leon knew it was because he hadn't yet fully mastered the power of chaos to the same level as his holy power.
If he could achieve that someday, his body wouldn't feel so exhausted, and perhaps he wouldn't need Miranda's help anymore.
"Good job, Leon." Astra appeared behind him, crouching down and gently wiping his face with a green handkerchief.
Her caring gesture left Leon slightly dazed—not because he was in love with Astra, but because she reminded him of Liliana.
Their faces were so alike, as if cast from the same mold.
Leon pushed the thought aside and gave a small smile. "Thank you, Astra."
"I'm the one who should be thanking you," she said casually. "Want to take a break?"
"No." Leon shook his head and slowly rose to his feet. "Let's keep going."
Astra rose silently beside him. Seeing Leon still strong was a relief for her.
Without a word, she led him to the next place—a beautiful flowering garden, now stained by dark power.
But the dark power here was much weaker than what they had encountered on the hill or in the crater.
Without hesitation, Leon stepped forward and sat cross-legged two meters from the garden.
As before, chaos and holy powers surged from his body, radiating outward to cleanse the garden.
This time, the purification went smoothly—no resistance, no obstacles.
It took only five minutes, thanks not only to the smaller amount of dark power but also to Leon's improved control over chaos power after the earlier purifications.
"Is the final place the lake where you were controlled before?" Leon asked.
Astra looked surprised, then met his gaze curiously. "How did you know?"
Leon chuckled softly. "Just a guess."
"You're right," Astra said without argument. "But the lake is the hardest of them all."
"Oh?" Leon's eyebrows rose. "Why?"
Astra paused before answering, "Because the Evil God's consciousness is trapped there."
"Evil God's consciousness?" Leon's expression stiffened immediately.
"Yes, and its power is immense. Until recently, I didn't realize that the dark power he planted in my body contained a fragment of his consciousness," she explained. "It wasn't until two thousand years ago, when I began to lose control of my own mind, that I noticed it—and discovered just how powerful and dangerous it truly is."
She locked eyes with Leon and asked, "Are you sure you can defeat it?"
Leon clenched his fists, his eyes blazing with determination.
"Don't worry. I'll take care of it."
