Chapter 643: The Lost Memories - Part 2
"...Dad?"
Leon gulped as he looked at the handsome man. He was tall, with short black hair and a pair of black eyes hidden behind thin glasses.
A gentle smile played on the man's lips as his gaze landed on his wife and child, who were sitting at the dining table.
"I'm sorry I'm late. I had some business to take care of," he said, stepping closer to them.
As the man walked past, Leon's expression turned complicated—a mix of sadness and confusion. That man was Isen Orion, his father and the head of the Orion family.
He was a kind and caring person, yet Leon had very few memories with him. It felt as if he were looking at a stranger.
"Father!" The boy exclaimed cheerfully, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Heh, my beloved son! Did you miss me?" The man asked with a warm laugh, lifting the little one into his arms.
"Um! I missed you so much!" the boy replied enthusiastically, planting a kiss on his father's cheek.
Although the child's lips were smeared with grease, the man didn't seem to care.
He returned the gesture with a gentle kiss on the boy's chubby cheek.
The mother smiled at the sight, then stood up to prepare food for her husband.
"Alright, Leon, don't bother your father just yet. He just got home and must be very hungry," she said gently.
The boy nodded, and his father set him back down in the chair.
Soon, the three of them sat together for a meal, wrapped in a warm atmosphere that anyone would envy—including Leon.
"Is this scene just an illusion? Why don't I remember a moment like this ever happening?" Leon muttered, his gaze blank and dazed.
*Whoosh!*
The scene vanished like mist in the wind. In an instant, his surroundings changed.
Now, Leon stood on a bustling street, surrounded by a crowd of people.
He stared at the unfamiliar surroundings—yet they felt oddly familiar. People passed by as if he were invisible.
"Mother, I want to buy that toy!"
A child's voice rang out behind him. Leon quickly turned, and just as he suspected, it was himself as a little boy.
Beside the boy stood a beautiful woman—his mother.
"Wait a minute, dear. I'm still shopping. Be patient, okay?" She said softly, patting the child's head.
Although slightly disappointed, the boy obeyed and stood still, his eyes drifting around with curiosity.
Suddenly, something caught his attention—a clown in the distance, holding a bunch of balloons and handing them to passersby.
His eyes lit up. He turned to ask his mother, but she was still busy picking out items.
Then, an idea struck him. After making sure his mother wasn't looking, he dashed off toward the clown.
But the clown was on the other side of the street. To reach him, the boy had to cross a busy road.
At only five years old, crossing alone was clearly dangerous. An adult should have been with him.
Yet the boy, unaware of the danger, kept running toward the clown without hesitation.
In the distance, an SUV suddenly sped toward the crossing, making Leon's eyes widen in panic.
"No!" he shouted.
He rushed forward, desperate to reach his younger self—but he was too late.
*Tiin!*
The car horn blared. The boy didn't have time to react and was struck head-on.
His small body was flung into the air and slammed against an ornamental tree by the roadside.
He lay there unconscious, blood slowly seeping from both sides of his head.
The accident sparked chaos. People screamed and gathered around the boy, stopping the car that had nearly fled the scene.
"Call an ambulance! Hurry!"
"Get the police!"
"Is there a doctor here? Please, this child is in critical condition!"
Even though none of them knew the boy, they rushed to save him.
Leon stood frozen, staring at his younger self lying motionless on the ground. His body wouldn't move. His eyes were blank.
"Is this really my memory? When did it happen—and why can't I remember?" he whispered, holding his head in confusion.
"Leon!"
A hysterical scream rang out from behind. It was his mother—crying, terrified, and desperate.
She pushed through the crowd, and when her eyes landed on her unconscious son, her body froze.
Then, overcome with emotion, she dropped to her knees beside him, her cries growing louder as she pounded the asphalt in anguish.
Once again, the scene dissolved and changed to the hospital room.
There, Leon saw his younger self lying unconscious on a hospital bed, hooked up to an IV and a heart monitor.
Beside the bed stood his mother and an elderly man in a white coat—a doctor.
"Doctor, how is my son? Is he going to be okay?" the woman asked, tears streaming down her face.
The doctor sighed and shook his head gently. "He's stable, but his condition is critical. He's in a coma, and we can't say when—if—he'll wake up. And even if he does, he'll likely suffer from severe amnesia."
"Amnesia?" Her voice broke as she repeated the word, her expression shattered.
"Yes," the doctor confirmed with a nod. "The impact from hitting the tree caused significant trauma to his head. His brain's nerve tissue has been damaged. I'm sorry, Madam—you'll need to be strong."
After a brief check of the medical equipment, the doctor quietly left the room, giving the woman a moment alone with her son.
Even after he was gone, she remained there—silent and still—staring blankly at her unconscious child.
"Leon..." she whispered, clutching his cold little right hand. "I'm so sorry… All of this is because of my negligence and foolishness. If only I had watched you more closely, none of this would have happened. I've been such a stupid mother…"
She sobbed quietly, her knees giving way as she collapsed to the floor. Her face buried against her son's bed, trying to hide her tears.
*Clack!*
At that moment, the door swung open, and Isen, Leon's father, stepped inside. Fear, anxiety, and anguish were etched across his face.
He rushed forward but froze the instant he saw his beloved son lying unconscious.
"Leon," he called out in a hoarse voice.
At the sound of her husband's voice, her sobs suddenly stopped.
She lifted her head and turned, meeting the devastated gaze of her husband.
She stood quickly, about to speak, but then something unexpected happened.
*Plak!*
He slapped her hard across the face, sending her staggering to the side.
"This is all your fault! Because of your negligence, Leon ended up like this!"
