My Love Debts Are Everywhere!

Chapter 692: Search and Seek Order

Leon, Elina, and the dwarves gathered with anxious expressions—especially the two, who exchanged uncertain glances.

Meanwhile, the soldiers stood at the center, staring at them intently.

One of the soldiers stepped forward and stopped a few paces ahead.

"Don't worry," he said in a calm tone. "We haven't come to arrest anyone or anything like that. We're just here to deliver important news."

At those words, everyone—including Leon and Elina—breathed a sigh of relief.

But the soldier's next words made their hearts skip a beat.

"This news concerns two intruders. We discovered traces of two unknown creatures entering our territory. Judging by the footprints on the mountainside, we suspect they're human."

Shock rippled through the dwarves.

"Humans? How is that possible? Don't they live far beyond the land's edge?"

"This is unbelievable! It's been hundreds—maybe even thousands—of years since a human last came here. Did they get lost, like that one long ago?"

Whispers spread quickly among them. Like the Elven race, the dwarves were bound to Mount Durnhak and forbidden from venturing far beyond it.

Should they try to leave, a curse would fall upon them—an agonizing death awaited.

That was why the news came as such a shock. Mount Durnhak lay so far away that it should've been impossible for either humans or demons to reach.

"Young master," Elina whispered, clutching Leon's hand tightly.

There was no doubt—the footprints the soldier mentioned belonged to the two of them.

But Leon remained calm. He gently rubbed Elina's palm and whispered, "Don't panic. If you act strangely, our identities will be exposed sooner or later. Understand?"

Elina swallowed hard and gave a slow nod. "I understand."

"You're mistaken," the soldier continued, his gaze turning cold. "Those two humans didn't get lost like the one before. Based on the direction of the tracks, it's clear—they came here on purpose. But that's not the real issue. They infiltrated our territory and destroyed the hidden gate of the dwarven treasure hall!"

Gasps erupted from the crowd. The dwarves stood frozen, their eyes wide with disbelief.

The treasure hall was sacred—a place that held the legacy of their race. Guarded day and night by elite soldiers, it was strictly off-limits without the king's direct permission.

And yet, those two humans had the audacity to break through its gate and sneak inside.

It was reckless—almost suicidal.

"And that's not all," the soldier added, narrowing his eyes. "Inside the treasure hall, they found a hidden gap. Through that, they escaped. After investigating, we discovered the passage led to the city sewer."

"That means they're still hiding somewhere," he continued. "Since Valgrund is a large city and searching every corner will take time, we're asking for your help. If anyone sees them, report it immediately. Don't worry—there's a generous reward waiting for whoever finds them."

Upon hearing the word "reward," the dwarves' eyes lit up. Of course, they wouldn't hesitate to report anything.

After all, it was their duty as part of the dwarven race—but now, that duty had turned into a goal wrapped in the promise of a tempting reward.

"Don't worry, soldier. I'll look for them and report if I find anything," said one of the dwarves.

"Me too!" another chimed in eagerly.

Soon, more dwarves joined in, voicing their enthusiasm. Even Leon appeared excited.

This left Elina both surprised and confused.

"What the hell are you doing, Young Master? Do you plan to find yourself and report it?"

That was what she wanted to say—but the look in Leon's eyes stopped her. She caught the message behind it and understood.

Without further hesitation, Elina joined in, nodding with feigned enthusiasm.

The soldiers exchanged glances, clearly pleased.

With the people's cooperation, their task would be much easier.

"All right, that's it. Report immediately if you spot the intruders," the soldier said casually before returning to his position. Moments later, he and his comrades departed.

The crowd of dwarves quickly dispersed—some returned to their usual routines, while others seemed eager to start the hunt for the two humans.

A reward had been offered for anyone who reported their whereabouts—and without question, it was a generous one.

"Young Master, what should we do? Should we still go to the tavern to gather information, or would it be better to hide first?" Elina asked, her voice tight with worry.

After the announcement, the city of Valgrund had likely turned into a chaotic and dangerous place for them.

Yet Leon remained perfectly calm, as if none of it concerned him.

"Elina, have you ever heard the saying, 'The most dangerous place is the safest place'?" Leon asked, glancing at her with a playful smile.

Elina blinked, then scratched her head in confusion. "I've never heard of it. Who came up with such a ridiculous saying?"

Leon: "…"

He let out a quiet sigh and pressed his fingers to his forehead. "The point is, we're safer in the heart of the city than hiding on the outskirts or in some dark alley."

"Think about it—if you were a dwarf soldier, would you ever suspect that I'm hiding right here, blending in as one of them?"

Elina paused. After a few seconds of thought, she shook her head firmly. "Of course not. That sounds impossible."

"Exactly," Leon said with a quiet chuckle. "That's why this is the best place to hide."

Elina's eyes lit up, sparkling with admiration.

"Young master, you really are brilliant!" she exclaimed.

Leon just smiled and gently patted her head.

They resumed walking, but after a few steps, Elina began to frown.

"Young master, why are we going this way? Isn't the tavern on the other side?"

Without a word, Leon pulled her into a narrow alley to the right and raised a finger to his lips, signaling her to stay quiet.

He told Elina to go deeper into the alley while he remained at its entrance, as if waiting for someone.

Moments later, a dwarf appeared in front of him. Judging by his fancy clothes and flashy jewelry, he was clearly from a wealthy background.

After making sure the area was clear, Leon waited until the dwarf got close—then—

*Tap!*

He lightly tapped the dwarf on the shoulder, startling him.

Before the dwarf could react, Leon's right eye gleamed. Activating the Eye of Chaos, he gave a calm command.

"Hand over your money."

Meanwhile, Elina waited nervously in the alley.

"What in the world is Young Master doing?" she wondered.

Before long, Leon returned and motioned for her to come over.

Without hesitation, Elina stepped out and asked, "Young Master, what were you doing?"

Leon took her hand and began walking toward the tavern.

"Making money, of course," he replied.

"Making money?" Elina frowned.

Noticing her confusion, Leon pulled out a brown pouch and tossed it lightly in his hand.

Elina: "…"
