My name is Miyuki Uchiha – A New World Order

Chapter 33: Chapter 33: That Is My Teacher’s Son

The door to the Hokage's office was violently flung open as the two elder stormed in, their faces burning with anger.

Sarutobi Hiruzen, ever the composed Hokage, silently began gathering the documents scattered across his desk.

As the two advisors entered and spotted Uchiha Miyuki present, they immediately erupted, "Uchiha Miyuki, why is it that on this mission only 'Kin' and 'Mito' did not return?"

Miyuki cast a cool, disdainful glance at the two grumbling veterans and replied evenly, "Isn't it normal for a ninja to fall in battle during a mission?"

"Sounds like you're using this mission for personal revenge!" She snapped, her voice trembling with emotion. After all, her clan had lost a jonin on this mission—even though, buoyed by the Third Hokage's favor, her family had grown rapidly in recent years, a Jonin was not something one could simply train up overnight. Moreover, on this mission, the shinobi from both the Torin and Mito clans had perished, while even the two weakest civilian-level ninja had returned unscathed. It was hard not to suspect that you, Miyuki, were meddling behind the scenes—after all, your clan had been involved in such machinations before.

At that moment, Kakashi stepped in. "My mission report is crystal clear," he declared. "When we encountered Orochimaru, we were ambushed by a large-scale ninjutsu trap. Their failure to retreat in time cost them their lives. As for any suggestion of personal vendetta—such notions are utterly baseless. Our entire team worked together harmoniously during the mission, and we all deeply mourn the sacrifice of our fallen comrades."

Miyuki's expression remained unreadable as he shot Kakashi a withering look. Kakashi's progress was, indeed, remarkable; he had already mastered the rudiments of political maneuvering—so much so that he could blatantly lie without batting an eye.

"Kakashi…" The elder began, clearly taken aback that Kakashi would intervene at this moment, leaving her momentarily speechless.

Miyuki then interjected dryly, "It appears you advisors are very well informed. We reported back to the village less than half an hour ago, and yet you two have already come knocking at the door."

Miyuki didn't bother to finish his sentence; the rest of his meaning was left for Hokage Hiruzen to ponder.

"Enough!" Hiruzen banged his fist on the table. "Barging into the Hokage's office without permission is utterly unacceptable!"

"Hiruzen" They looked at Hiruzen in disbelief.

"Clearly, Lord Hokage still has pressing matters to attend to. I shall take my leave now. However, please give serious consideration to my proposal—if you have any reservations, the Security Division may assume full responsibility for this matter," Miyuki said, bowing courteously before departing.

Once Miyuki had left, Hiruzen fixed his gaze on the two remaining advisors. "What are you still doing here? Leave immediately."

"Hiruzen…" She wanted to protest further, but the other elder tugged her sleeve, and with no other recourse, she reluctantly followed him out of the office.

Inside the Hokage's office, only Kakashi remained. Hiruzen lit his pipe, the soft glow of its embers illuminating his thoughtful expression as he inquired, "Kakashi, is there anything else you wish to discuss?"

Bowing respectfully, Kakashi replied in a measured tone, "Lord Hokage, I wish to resign from the Anbu."

Hiruzen's brows furrowed. "Why do you suddenly feel this way, Kakashi?" he pressed.

Kakashi lowered his head and drew a deep breath. "I simply feel… too exhausted these days."

A heavy silence fell over them until, after a long moment, Hiruzen finally asked, "And what do you plan to do next?"

"I suppose I'll continue to serve as an ordinary ninja—undertaking missions and, more importantly, making amends for the years I lost to my grief," Kakashi answered softly.

Hiruzen nodded slowly. "It seems you have finally begun to move on from your past sorrow."

After a brief pause, Kakashi continued, "Also, I would like to request that I be given responsibility for taking care of Minato's son."

At this, Hiruzen's eyes narrowed, and the room once again sank into silence. Finally, with measured gravity, Hiruzen said, "Kakashi, you must understand the implications of Naruto's status."

There was an edge of warning in his tone—Kakashi's desire to get close to the Jinchūriki was treading on dangerous ground.

Kakashi met Hiruzen's gaze steadily, his voice resolute, "I understand, but he is also my teacher's son."

Kakashi's firm insistence left Hiruzen momentarily speechless. Had anyone else made such a request, the Third Hokage might have already turned a cold shoulder. However, Kakashi's plea was unassailable on every front. As the only surviving direct disciple of the Fourth Hokage, he bore a natural duty to care for the orphaned heir. There was no justification for rejecting his request.

Furthermore, if Hiruzen were to oppose him forcefully, it would only deepen the rift between them.

After finishing his pipe, Hiruzen exhaled deeply. "Very well. Originally, I planned for you to assume command as the team leader once Naruto's son graduated, but since you have now insisted, he shall be entrusted to you."

"Thank you," Kakashi said, relief evident in his tone as he bowed in gratitude.

"Once you resign from the Anbu, continue serving among the Jonin. The village still needs you," Hiruzen added.

"At your command, Lord Hokage," Kakashi replied firmly.

Later that evening, after Uchiha Miyuki returned home, his ever-attentive housekeeper, Uchiha Keiko, had already prepared a hot bath for him.

After bathing, Miyuki retired to his private chamber. Lighting fragrant incense, he settled down to perform maintenance on his prized training apparatus—a routine he deemed essential for honing his techniques.

Before long, Keiko knocked softly on his door. "Clan Leader, Lord Fugaku has arrived," she announced.

"Please, have him come in, and prepare the tea set for our meeting," Miyuki instructed.

"Certainly," Keiko replied as she departed.

Moments later, in the elegantly appointed reception room of Miyuki's residence, Uchiha Fugaku and Miyuki knelt before each other in mutual respect. They watched as Miyuki meticulously arranged the tea utensils, his movements graceful and precise.

"Elder Fugaku, please," Miyuki said, offering a freshly brewed cup of tea.

True to his elite upbringing, Fugaku displayed impeccable manners—a stark contrast to Kakashi's rougher style. Only after completing the entire tea ceremony did Fugaku set his cup down and remark, "I never expected you, Miyuki, to possess such refined skills."

Miyuki smiled humbly. "Elder Fugaku, you flatter me. It's nothing more than a bit of idle practice when I'm alone." He then inquired, "May I ask what brings you here in the late hour?"

Fugaku's eyes gleamed with measured interest as he asked, "And how did the mission fare?"

"It went reasonably well," Miyuki replied. "Although we did not manage to capture Orochimaru, we secured some vital intelligence—and more importantly, all our clan members returned safely."

Fugaku nodded thoughtfully, the quiet clink of teacups punctuating the unspoken acknowledgment that, in the complex world of shinobi, every small victory counted.

As the evening deepened, the bonds of duty and loyalty were reaffirmed over a shared cup of tea, setting the stage for the challenges yet to come in the Hidden Leaf Village.
