Chapter 36: Chapter 34: Talk No Jutsu vs. Talk No Jutsu
"It was Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha who joined forces to create Konoha, ensuring that children no longer had to kill each other and could instead become brothers. Doesn't that sound just like us now?"
Haru looked directly at Uchiha Itachi, who was perched on a tree branch, spreading his hands as he prepared to convince him.
"Being obsessed with the past will only hold you back." Itachi's hand reached behind him, gripping the hilt of his sword, as he emphasized his identity. "I am not a ninja of the Uchiha clan. I am a ninja of Konoha."
Itachi was around the same age as Haru, but his way of thinking was far beyond his peers.
He could understand everything Hashirama Senju, the First Hokage, had done.
Including his decision to stop his clan members from using the "Senju" surname. Without clans, people would intermarry widely, forming bonds that transcended family ties, replacing clan loyalty with a sense of belonging to the village.
However, the Uchiha clan couldn't see this, nor could they understand it.
They remained closed off, clinging to the meaningless prestige of the Uchiha name.
In Itachi's eyes, Haru, who went against Hashirama's wishes, was no different from them.
He cared too much about his surname, placing clan ideology above the village.
It had to be said Itachi didn't like Haru at all.
Seeing the hostility emanating from Itachi, Haru became even more certain.
At this point in time, Itachi was fully on the village's side. The massacre of his clan was only a matter of time.
But that was exactly why Haru was here.
Haru shook his head. "You've misunderstood me. I'm not emphasizing the identities of the Senju and Uchiha. What I'm saying is that we're just like Hashirama and Madara back then, sharing the ideal of protecting children and everyone else through the village."
"I'm here to cooperate with you to stop the Uchiha clan's coup."
Haru spoke with unwavering confidence, his presence radiating strength.
Kakashi, hiding in the shadows, was startled by this shocking revelation.
The Uchiha clan was planning a coup?
But how did Haru know about this?
And what role did Itachi play between the Uchiha clan and Konoha if this information was true?
Itachi, too, was deeply shocked.
In his mind, only a handful of people knew about this himself, the Third Hokage, and Danzō.
Could Haru be one of Danzō's people?
'It seems I guessed right.'
Noticing Itachi's expression, Haru muttered softly, "Can we talk now?"
Itachi suppressed his shock and activated his Sharingan in the darkness, intending to use a genjutsu to extract information from Haru.
However, to use a Sharingan genjutsu, he needed to make eye contact.
To his surprise, Haru seemed fully aware of this. Despite speaking to him, Haru's gaze wasn't fixed on him.
This guy knew far more than Itachi had imagined.
"What do you want to talk about?"
After a moment of silence, Itachi asked while searching for an opportunity to cast his genjutsu.
"I've already said it. I want to work with you to stop the Uchiha clan's coup." Haru repeated himself and then laid out his plan.
By using the conflict with the Cloud Village as an opportunity, they could weaken the Uchiha clan's power, rendering them unable to launch a coup.
While this was only a temporary solution, it was the most effective method at the moment.
"You're too naive."
Itachi shook his head helplessly, thinking Haru was nothing more than an optimistic idealist.
He had no idea how difficult this would be to achieve.
"Konoha's threats aren't limited to the Land of Lightning."
"The village in the desert covets water, the village on the island covets land, and the village on the barren cliffs covets fertile soil. Your plan will only reignite the flames of war."
Itachi pointed out the flaws in Haru's plan with pinpoint accuracy.
If Konoha went to war with the Cloud Village, other forces might join in.
And the already weakened Konoha couldn't handle a two-front war.
Pushing forward recklessly would only lead to complete defeat.
'As expected of Uchiha Itachi.'
Haru couldn't help but admire him. Despite being around the same age, Itachi had immediately identified the flaws in his plan after hearing it just once.
But that was all.
Haru hadn't come here on a whim he was fully prepared.
The flaws Itachi could see, Hiruzen could see as well. Yet, Hiruzen had still chosen to support Haru's plan.
This was because Hiruzen knew something Itachi didn't.
Haru's strength.
During the Third Great Ninja War, the Sannin hadn't participated. The main reason Konoha had weakened was the loss of Minato Namikaze, a Kage-level fighter.
But now, Haru was stronger than Minato.
So, Haru briefly explained his plans for dealing with the Lands of Wind and Earth.
He would establish friendly relations with Sunagakure and use Amegakure to stall the Land of Earth's forces.
However, this only made Itachi sigh in frustration.
While forming an alliance with Sunagakure would be difficult, it wasn't impossible.
The issues with Sunagakure had been exposed during the last war.
Barren soil made it hard to grow towering trees, and their Tailed Beast was the weakest among all the villages.
But the Land of Earth was different they were strong.
And Haru's plan was to use a small nation like Amegakure to delay them?
This was pure fantasy.
"You really think a weak nation like Amegakure can hold off the Land of Earth?
"Just because Hanzo of the Salamander is there? Sure, he's a powerful ninja, but compared to the Land of Earth"
Before Itachi could finish refuting Haru's naivety, he was interrupted.
"Hanzo of the Salamander? He's a joke. What can that loser even do?"
Itachi: "???"
Hanzo, the legendary ninja who had fought the Sannin to a standstill and struck fear into the entire ninja world, was being called a joke and a loser by Haru?
Wait, if it wasn't because of Hanzo, then why did Haru think a weak nation like Amegakure could hold off the powerful Land of Earth?
Could there possibly be another overpowered ninja there?
"Even if the Lands of Wind and Earth don't intervene, what makes you think you can control the Uchiha clan in its current state?"
"And what makes you think you can repel the invading Cloud ninja?"
"War isn't child's play."
In Itachi's eyes, Haru was no different from those armchair strategists who only knew how to spout sweet words.
He had never experienced war, nor did he understand the pain it brought.
But at that moment, Haru pointed at himself with absolute confidence.
"Because I will make Konoha invincible."
