Chapter 698: Hiro Again!
Chapter 698: Hiro Again!
Despite being smaller than him, Hiro was as sturdy as a mountain. He just didn't seem to be able to push him. This frustrated him and he couldn't help but exert even greater pressure.
Hiro could palpably feel the pressure on him.
But thanks to the investment he had made in the skill tree, he could keep his balance despite the onslaught. Truth be told, it wasn't that he could withstand the force of the opposing player. After all, the difference in their physique was quite huge.
If it weren't for his balance being outstanding, he would have already been tossed aside.
Hiro had faced some fearsome opponents before. But this person was different. Perhaps, it was the technique he used that made him different.
Hiro couldn't be sure of it.
However, he could tell that he had to get out as quickly as possible. He knew he wouldn't withstand this constant onslaught.
Suddenly, he felt the increase in power. The person had suddenly become even heavier. It was as if he was being pushed by a bull.
While the pressure mounted on him, the others began to close on him.
Before he had some space to operate. But now, he was surrounded from all sides. He had five people around him. Each eyeing the ball.
Hiro's heart began to pound even heavier as he became aware of the predicament he had gotten involved.
'Geez! I've gotten myself involved in some deep shit, haven't I?' Hiro couldn't help but lampoon.
Though it wasn't his intention to draw them toward him, Hiro didn't take long to calm down. He calmed his nerves as he swept his gaze searching for space to exploit.
Witnessing the unfolding predicament, the Atletico supporters couldn't help but feel anxious. They could tell that Hiro wasn't in a favorable position.
They feared that he might lose the ball.
To get out of that predicament, it would take something extraordinary.
'Wait...'
Even with the constant pressure on him, Hiro managed to stand firm. Though it was taking a toll on his body, Hiro knew that he had to remain patient.
Every crisis brings itself the seed of opportunity.
Hiro was in search of that opportunity. He knew if he managed to get past this entrapment, he could change the flow of the game.
It looked like a gamble.
But for Hiro, it was a calculated risk.
'No risk, no reward,' Hiro thought to himself.
He immediately activated most of his skills. Instantly, Hiro felt his senses heightening. He could feel his pulse, his throbbing heart, and the sound of the footsteps around him.
The atmosphere of the stadium was heavy with tension.
Just then he sensed a presence lurking behind him from the shadows. Benjamin had lunged toward him from his blind spot.
If he hadn't activated his skills, he wouldn't have been able to spot him.
But having activated his skills, right now Hiro could see the entire field. Nothing in this field could escape his vision.
'Now!'
Hiro retracted his power and took the ball along with him. He had been waiting for this opportunity for quite some time now.
Just as he retracted his power, Amadou who had been fiercely pressing him lost his footing and became imbalanced. Simultaneously, Benjamin who thought he had outwitted Hiro failed to predict his movement had been detected.
The two collided with each other while Hiro made use of the disturbance to escape from the entrapment. The others who had been surrounding him couldn't react in time. They were caught off-guard by their teammate's collision.
The collision of those two was like a smoke screen to Hiro.
It didn't take Hiro long to breach the opposing defensive third. Though their defenders had positioned themselves, Hiro didn't find their presence troubling.
With Alvarez and Griezmann on the run, they matched them in numbers. In terms of individual skills, they even edged them.
Hiro himself was confident enough to take all three of them.
However, he knew he shouldn't get too full of himself. Confidence is one thing but overconfidence is another. There's a fine line separating confidence from overconfidence.
With all the options available, it seemed too foolish to finish the entire job himself.
Thus Hiro passed the ball without any hesitation. The three of them, all excellent passers moved the ball deep inside the opposing territory.
The rest of the opposition were still retreating in panic.
Especially Benjamin, he was charging back like an enraged boar. Flaring his nostrils, he
retreated in a hurry. Even his eyes were filled with rage.
The stride he took while retreating shook the ground and he oozed an aura of intimidation. The aura was leaking all over him like steam leaking from a steam geezer.
Just in time as Griezmann began to venture deep inside their box, Benjamin tackled him.
Though he managed to touch the ball, he also took down Griezmann in the process. Griezmann fell hard on the ground, wincing and rolling in pain.
Noticing the tackle, the referee placed the whistle between his lips, ready to blow out.
However, before he could even sound the whistle, Hiro shot the loose ball with fearsome
power.
Bam!
The ball rippled as his foot made contact with it, the vibration producing a clear distinct sound. The ball hoovered to the post.
Cutting through the air, it flew straight to the post.
Swoop!
With a crisp sound, the ball rattled the net.
For a moment an eerie silence descended upon the stadium. The crowd was still focused on Griezmann. Even the opposing keeper had failed to notice the ball speeding past him. He had felt the sensation of something passing him.
But he couldn't tell what it was.
He was caught amidst the ongoing confusion.
Then he slowly turned around to look at the post only to find the ball rolling.
Upon noticing the ball, his expression turned dark. The ball had crossed the goal-line and he
hadn't even noticed.
"Goal....."
The crowd erupted in chaos, fans screaming, and players running amuck on the field. Hiro stood on the edge of the box, his chest heaving, his heart pounding. He could still feel the lingering power coursing through his veins.
He could tell he had done it.
The lead they were so desperate for, he had provided it.
The expectant gaze had turned ecstatic now. Hiro once again managed to fulfill the expectations placed on him. He had once again done it.
He didn't disappoint once again.
Hiro, however, didn't feel like celebrating. Instead, right after scoring, he ran toward
Griezmann who lay on the ground wincing in pain.
He could tell that he had been tackled roughly.
