Chapter 129: Chef Making Soup
Seeing the pill they were supposed to make, 90% of the participants sighed in frustration. As tier 2 alchemists, how could they possibly create a tier 3 pill on the spot?
It was utterly impossible.
Only five of them, all tier 3 alchemists, still had a chance of successfully concocting the pill.
"At least I've secured a spot in the top fifty," one participant muttered.
Even the tier 2 alchemists studied the pill formula with full concentration. Although they knew they couldn't concoct the pill, they hoped to earn some points by completing a few of the steps.
Tan Wei remained calm, showing no signs of distress. His expression was composed, unaffected by the challenge ahead.
Though he had never made a Heart Demon Subduing Pill before, he wasn't fazed by the task.
'Five sets of ingredients is too much. Create the pill on the first try!' Lai Hu said in Tan Wei's mind, increasing the difficulty.

Tan Wei nodded and began preparing the ingredients.
"May I have a table?" he asked the disciple overseeing his challenge.
"Yes," the disciple replied.
Tan Wei grabbed the nearest table and moved it beside his cauldron. He then set down the jade bottles containing the herbs.
Before removing the ingredients from the jade bottles, Tan Wei first retrieved a bottle of ordinary water from his space ring and poured it into the cauldron. Then, he activated his spiritual qi technique, conjuring a dark red flame in his hand.
This was no ordinary fire; it was said to originate from the depths of hell itself!
The technique had been passed down to him by his master, Lai Hu. It was a Supreme-grade cultivation manual coveted by alchemists even in the Immortal World—the legendary Divine Hellfire Arts!
Zhou Xiu, who was closely observing Tan Wei's actions, furrowed his brows the moment he noticed the flames hovering above Tan Wei's hand.
'That flame… it's not ordinary,' he thought, his gaze narrowing.
Even with his experience as a genuine Return to Void realm cultivator and a tier 7 alchemist, Zhou Xiu couldn't determine the flame's true origins.
One thing was clear, though—it was anything but common!
Cui Da, who stood beside Tan Wei, caught sight of the flame flickering in Tan Wei's hand and sneered.
"Ha, what a useless flame. It seems you have some alchemist knowledge, but no real technique to back it up!" he mocked, disdain written all over his face.
The flame in Tan Wei's hand wasn't flashy, but it was infused with profound Dao laws. A mere Foundation Establishment realm cultivator like Cui Da couldn't even begin to sense its depth.
Typically, only cultivators who had reached the Dao Seeking or Divine Strength realms could perceive the extraordinary nature hidden within the hellfire's subdued glow.
Cui Da, eager to display his superiority, activated his cultivation technique. A large blue flame, at least fifty percent bigger than Tan Wei's, flared up in his hand.
"This is what a real alchemist's flame looks like!" He declared, his tone dripping with disdain as he shot a smug glance at Tan Wei.
Tan Wei paid him no attention.
Calmly and without a word, he directed his flame to the bottom of the cauldron and concentrated on the water inside. Within seconds, the cauldron's temperature began to rise rapidly, and the water nearly reached its boiling point.
Seeing that Tan Wei wasn't giving him the slightest attention, Cui Da sneered. He turned back to his own cauldron and began the pill-making process.
Meanwhile, Feng Fan, watching the interaction unfold on one of the large screens in the main plaza, couldn't contain his excitement. A mischievous grin spread across his face.
"Ah, the classic face-slapping moment. That's it, my protagonist! Crush this Blue Dragon Sect fool! Make him cough blood and fly backward like a defeated villain!" he muttered to himself, clearly enjoying the drama.
Elder Jiang, standing beside him, overheard the bizarre monologue and felt a cold sweat form on his brow.
'What is this lunatic even saying? Cough blood and fly backward? What kind of nonsense is that?' he thought, baffled by Feng Fan's colorful imagination.
When the water in the cauldron reached its boiling point, Tan Wei swiftly opened the seven jade bottles arranged on the table beside him.
He grabbed the first medicinal herb, channeling spiritual qi into his hand as he ground it into a fine powder. Once prepared, he placed the powdered herb on the right side of the cauldron.
Next, he picked up the second herb. This time, he didn't crush it. Instead, he carefully placed it on the opposite side of the first herb, its vibrant leaves glistening under the heat of the cauldron.
The third and fourth herbs followed, both placed intact into the boiling water at precise intervals, forming a perfect square arrangement.
Tan Wei pressed his hand against the side of the cauldron near the powdered herb, channeling spiritual qi into his palm to conjure a small flame.
The precise control allowed him to raise the temperature on that specific area of the cauldron, ensuring the first herb dissolved evenly and efficiently, without affecting the other three herbs.
The powdered herb dissolved quickly, spreading evenly through the boiling water and infusing the second, third, and fourth herbs. The submerged herbs began to emit a faint glow, their natural properties enhanced by the dissolved essence.
Once the first herb had fully dissolved, Tan Wei carefully added the fifth, sixth, and seventh herbs into the cauldron.
'Now comes the most critical step,' he thought, sharpening his focus.
A large bamboo spoon appeared in his hand, and he began stirring the mixture in a steady clockwise motion. The herbs gradually broke down, blending into a uniform, pale green mass.
With each stir of the spoon, the medicinal mixture grew closer to achieving its final form.
When Feng Fan spotted the bamboo spoon in Tan Wei's hand, he couldn't help but chuckle. "Bro, are you an alchemist crafting a pill or a chef making soup?"
