Chapter 909: Entering the Land of Ruin
With this power at her disposal, Xue Lengyan was even more convinced of what the previous Blood Clan Master had told her: following Gu Lan would undoubtedly lead to no accidents and would elevate the Blood Clan to even greater heights.
...
After a few breaths, Gu Lan stepped into the Immortal Realm. The place still felt familiar, but Gu Lan had no time to pay attention to the surroundings. He quickened his pace, heading straight for the Land of Ruin.
Since no one was following him this time, Gu Lan's speed was considerably fast. However, just as he was about to reach the Land of Ruin, he sensed strange gazes directed at him. It felt as though someone was watching him, but he couldn't tell from where.
After some contemplation, Gu Lan stopped in his tracks. He gathered a sword light in his hand, releasing his aura. Whoever it was, he had to find out their identity.
"Who's there? Come out!" Gu Lan's voice was cold as the sword light shot out.
He thought the person would dodge, but instead, they appeared before him. Gu Lan was stunned, but quickly adjusted his sword's direction. His aura was slightly reined in as he took a step forward.
"You, how did you follow me here?" Gu Lan asked.
When he left the Human World, he hadn't sensed Gu Simu's presence, so he hadn't expected her to follow him.
Upon hearing his question, Gu Simu spoke with a hint of grievance.
"I was afraid you might be in danger alone, so…"
Her words were reasonable, but they were simply impulsive thoughts.
Gu Lan smiled wryly, "You shouldn't follow me. There are dangers ahead."
This was true, as he was heading toward a forbidden land of the God Clan.
"But I've come this far, and you can't just send me back, can you?" Gu Simu's words left Gu Lan at a loss for how to respond.
Now that she was here, sending her back was dangerous, especially since they were so far from the Human Clan.
"Come with me, but remember, you have to follow my lead," Gu Lan finally relented.
Gu Simu was overjoyed, nodding repeatedly. "Don't worry, I won't cause you any trouble."
She had already stayed long enough in the Human World, and now that she had this chance, she wouldn't miss it. With Gu Lan around, she felt she would be safe.
Gu Lan knew that Gu Simu wasn't going to leave, so he didn't insist on sending her back. As they walked together, the two soon arrived at the entrance of the Land of Ruin.
The place seemed no different from any other, but the swirling vortexes caught their attention.
Glancing at the scene, Gu Lan released his aura. If he was right, these vortexes were the entrance to the Land of Ruin.
Since the Land of Ruin was incredibly dangerous, Gu Lan didn't want Gu Simu to enter with him. He hesitated for a moment, then turned to her.
"Wait here. I'll go in alone."
He had never entered the Land of Ruin before, and he didn't know what dangers might lie inside. If something went wrong, he might not even make it out alive.
His idea was good, but Gu Simu didn't agree.
"Since I'm already here, I'm not going to wait outside," she said.
Gu Lan tried to refuse, but instinctively, he swallowed his words. He knew very well that without his guidance, Gu Simu would do something unpredictable.
"Fine, you can come, but you have to follow my orders."
Gu Simu's excitement grew as she nodded. "I promise I won't cause trouble."
Gu Lan sighed inwardly. There was no use in arguing. He released his aura, enveloping Gu Simu with it to keep her safe.
With one step, Gu Lan disappeared into the vortex, and Gu Simu quickly followed.
As soon as they stepped through, they both felt a dizzying sensation, and the terrifying aura around them intensified. They quickly adjusted their energy to counter it.
...
After a few breaths, Gu Lan managed to steady himself. But when he turned around, he found that Gu Simu was no longer beside him.
Gu Lan was stunned, his expression darkening.
He gathered his strength and searched the area, but after several moments, he couldn't detect Gu Simu's presence.
This made Gu Lan anxious, and his face grew even graver. He had just felt her presence, so how could it vanish so suddenly?
His mind raced, and his pace quickened, but he soon realized something was wrong. He had somehow entered a loop, walking for what felt like a long time, yet he remained in the same spot.
Moreover, a dark aura began to rise around him.
At this moment, Gu Lan was thoroughly confused, and Gu Simu was facing the same predicament.
Unable to find Gu Lan, her steps quickened. But just after she took a few steps, the dark aura engulfed her as well.
While the energy didn't seem directly threatening, it was still overwhelmingly powerful. Gu Simu's face remained expressionless as she looked around, then summoned the Hammer of Evergreen Pine.
Not willing to waste time, she decided to destroy the energy that surrounded her. This wasn't the Jing Nation palace, after all.
With a surge of energy, the Hammer of Evergreen Pine expanded in her hand. She swung it, and the entire sky seemed to tremble.
"Boom!"
With a deafening roar, the ground trembled, and the surrounding aura shattered.
"Thought it was strong? It was so weak," Gu Simu sneered as she reined in her energy.
But just as she took a step forward, the dark energy returned, even stronger than before. This time, Gu Simu sensed a hint of danger.
Her expression darkened as she gathered her energy once more. She had thought the problem was solved, but it seemed the trouble wasn't over.
...
Meanwhile, Gu Lan had used brute force to scatter the energy around him.
After a moment, the energy began to converge again.
Seeing the energy circling around him, Gu Lan's face darkened. He couldn't sense any living beings nearby, and he didn't know where this power was coming from.
As he remained cautious, dark figures suddenly appeared in the distance.
But these figures weren't physical. Gu Lan was perplexed.
Summoning a sword light in his hand, he swung at the figures. He wasn't interested in wasting time here, especially when he wasn't sure of Gu Simu's safety.
His speed was fast, but the figures didn't vanish. They remained, showing no signs of disappearing.
Gu Lan hesitated and took a few cautious steps back. The aura around him was too strange, and he decided to stay alert.
But what Gu Lan didn't know was that in the Land of Ruin, no living being could step foot without facing grave danger.
