Mystic Eyes of Death Perception from Zero

Chapter 46: Chapter 45: I Have Something to Say

"Are you happy now, Graham-dono? Priscilla-sama was so worried about you that she even went out of her way to owe someone a favor. You of all people know how much she hates asking for help."

Yae pouted as she looked at Graham lying in bed. She had initially thought that Graham's inability to move was her fault, but now it seemed that wasn't the case.

Even the kingdom's most renowned healer, 'Blue', failed to heal his injuries!

She continued saying, "What kind of backlash is this anyway? It almost seems like a curse!"

Graham didn't answer her question. Instead, he looked at her with a puzzled expression and inquired, "Why are you even here taking care of me? Shouldn't you hate me for binding you with that contract?"

"Maybe. But there's one thing I was not lying about, I really do like you and Priscilla Ojousama~" Yae smiled playfully, dodging the question.

For her, being an assassin was also a form of bondage.

Since she was bound either way, she might as well make the best of it...

Besides, inasmuch as she disliked remaining in servitude, she found that being a maid wasn't so bad.

For her, it was a piece of cake.

"What, you don't believe me?" Seeing Graham's skeptical look, Yae felt a bit annoyed.

"What do you think? You stabbed me yesterday, and now you're saying you like me? Do you really expect me to believe that?" Graham retorted.

Yae couldn't help but utter a complaint saying, "I'm already being nice! I have a colleague who would cut open the stomach of someone that she likes just to see their intestines..."

"The Bowel Hunter..." Graham subconsciously muttered in recognition.

"Oh, so you know about her? See, compared to her, don't you think I'm much much better?" Yae blinked her big, adorable eyes.

"Even if you act cute, I won't lift the contract. And don't think the contract will disappear if I die." Graham deadpanned.

"Eh~~! I'm being serious..."

Yae chattered on and on.

What Graham didn't know was that she only talked this much when she was around him.

In the eyes of the other servants, Yae Tenzen, the head maid, was a serious and no-nonsense person, yet she was highly trusted by Priscilla Ojousama and was someone not to be trifled with.

For some reason, this maid kept disturbing Graham's rest, as if she didn't want him to fall asleep...

After a while, Yae finally left with heavy steps.

With the contract in place, she was now truly one of Priscilla's subordinates.

Perhaps this was for the best. She no longer had to be an assassin...

If given the choice, who would want to do such bloody, underhanded work?

...

"Hime-sama...?"

Hearing footsteps, Graham opened his eyes to see the beautiful woman in red, the mistress of the mansion, Priscilla Barielle.

"When did it happen?"she suddenly asked.

"What?"

"Your injuries! When did they start?" Priscilla crossed her arms and glared at him.

"Uh... yesterday."

"Is that so?" Priscilla murmured softly, then fell silent. The atmosphere grew heavy.

After a long pause, she suddenly spoke, "Are you an idiot? Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

"There's a reason for that," Graham replied with a smile.

"Speak!" Priscilla snorted, glaring at him with dissatisfaction.

His sickly appearance seemed to mock everything she had been through.

'The Bloody Bride', no one really wanted to own such a title...

Graham finally gave in and answered, "Last time, didn't you tell me that if I wanted to become your husband, I'd have to either kill Leip or die once? So, if I die this time, wouldn't that be enough to-"

"Shut up!" Priscilla suddenly interrupted him, her voice filled with emotion.

"You fool! For the sake of a meaningless title, you're willing to die and leave me like this?"

She reached out with her delicate fingers and grabbed his collar. "Listen well, Graham-kun! You will always be my knight!"

"Hime-sama..."

Graham was stunned. The usually proud Priscilla was showing such a sorrowful expression.

Her beautiful crimson eyes seemed to glisten with tears...

"I don't need a husband! Remember, never bring this up again. Otherwise, you can forget about keeping your head!"

Letting go of his collar, Priscilla turned her head away, as if trying to hide her current expression.

After a moment of thought, Graham suddenly spoke, "Hime-sama, could you come closer? I have something to say..."

Hearing this, Priscilla, though still angry, walked over and sat on the edge of the bed, glaring at him.

"Speak! If you say something stupid and upset me again, be prepared for even worse treatment!"

As she sat down, Graham suddenly leaned in!

Out of nowhere!

A sneak attack!

A kiss.

Priscilla's eyes widened in shock as she stared at this audacious knight!

Was he really not afraid of death?

How dare he kiss her without her permission?

But then she remembered, this guy was probably going to die soon. It wasn't so strange for him to act this way.

Still, it was infuriating!

Though she thought this, Priscilla's face turned red.
