Chapter 8: The party
The month before the coming-of-age party flew extremely fast. All what I managed to do was to get more comfortable with using all of my skill and I was already sitting in a carriage to the capitol.
Next to me, on my the right side was sitting Yuki, holding my hand that she placed on her thigh, she was wearing blood red qipao with black flowers as decorations, she looked gorgeous. To my left was Rina that after seeing Yuki put my hand on her thigh she did the same and pressed her chest against my arm. She was wearing a black long dress that hugged her figure perfectly. I decided to take them with me as my company, it's not unusual to bring somebody to party like this and I really didn't want to leave them behind.
Even if I wanted to leave them behind, what I didn't. Rina told me that she would have sneaked in, in my shadow using her new skill 'Shadow walk' that allows her to enter shadows and teleport short distance from shadow to shadow. Yuki on the other hand told me that with her position as one of the strongest adventurers in the country she really does not have any issue getting to any party. But neither of them had to resort to anything like that, since I didn't plan to go without them anyway.
The journey took six hours and we arrived just a few hours before the scheduled start of the party. I was informed by Sebastian, that came to capitol few days prior to help with the organization, that my father had some things to do before my party and that he can't meet me before the party, but he promised to be here in time to handle my party and that we can talk after that.
On one side I was glad that I won't have to face him one-on-one before the party, since if there is a person that can notice I am not the original Victor it's him. But on the other side I wasn't so happy since I needed to ask him to let me move to capitol so that we can register as adventurers here. There was a lot to grab here and I wanted to use this opportunity.
After that we went to my chambers where group of about fifteen maids made sure that we look our best. Sometime after that a maid came to my chambers and informed us that we are expected to enter the party.
I stood up, Yuki took one of my arms while Rina took the other and we walked towards the entrance to the dance hall where the party was going on.
We entered from the second floor to the huge hall; it was about forty meters long and thirty meter wide. The ceiling was extremely tall since the hall took up the space of both first and second floor. The walls had huge paintings depicting the ancestors of the Balzac family in golden frames. Ceiling had huge luxurious looking golden formations giving of a sun like light. The whole room had bloody red carpet and all the furniture was either gilded or straight up golden.
The were three sets of stairs leading to the second floor that was about four meters wide and along all the walls of the hall. It overlooked the whole dance floor and served as the seating area with multitude of tables placed on it.
We entered through giant, about four meters wide and three meter tall, door. As we entered presenter took a deep breath and presented us to the whole gathering.
"And here we have our guest of honor, we are celebrating his coming of age. The son of the duke Balzac, Victor Balzac, accompanied by one of the few S rank adventurers of this kingdom and his personal instructor Yuki Sazanukachi, also known as blade of truth. And on his other arm, his companion Rina."
As the presenter spoke, I gently nodded towards all the nobles that were clapping around me and headed straight towards the tables with refreshment hoping that we will be able to dodge most of the talks with nobles like this.
We didn't even arrive at the tables and group of nobles ambushed us. Yuki decided to take one for the team and entertain them. After that we were able to reach the refreshment table without any issues since the opportunity to talk with Yuki was big enough of a distraction to make them ignore me for the moment.
When I arrived at the refreshment table, I was met with huge selection of alcoholic drinks that I was not interested in drinking and nothing without alcohol to drink. Seeing my frustration Rina spoke.
"Let me go and grab something to drink for you! I know you are not going to drink the alcohol and they have nothing without it in here!"
I smiled at Rina warmly and nodded. "Please if you don't mind! Thank you!"
The moment she walked off to the distance a voice sounded from behind me.
"Is that even you Victor? You changed, you slimmed down a lot, you look muscular and handsome, very handsome. And you are even refusing alcohol and maintaining a female company that seems to do it voluntary and they even seem to enjoy it!"
I was turning, hoping that I am wrong and that the person that just spoke is not who I think it is. But to my dismay, my eyes once I turned towards the person confirmed that the person was indeed somebody I really didn't wanted to meet. And seeing this, I quickly prodded my memories of this body to find out how come that this person seems to know me, again making sure not to dig too deep, see just what I inevitably need to and also making sure that none of the feelings of the original owner get to me. Something about it was giving me really bad feeling. I knew that this person hated me in game, but I did nothing to her yet and I was not planning to, but quick look into memories of this disgusting pig revealed that he knew her from childhood. They somehow became good friends as kids, but when I was about twelve, I lured her away from adults and tried to force myself on her after she refused my confession. I sighed in relief knowing that nothing happened, she was able to defend herself without any issues but she hated me with passion ever since. This was never mentioned in game but many people, including me, found it weird that the fiery angel of the academy that was nice to everybody, always hated me in game. The person I was looking at was the daughter of marquess Duchell, the Elizabeth Duchell, one of the main heroines of the game and the person I kidnapped in game before dying.
She was a breathtaking beauty. She was about 1.8 meter tall, just a smidge smaller than me right now, with medium length fiery red hair, voluptuous body that was barely contained by her long jet-black dress. Her face was perfect and her every move was extremely sensual without her even realizing it.
Realizing all this I froze. I thought for a moment what to do and came to a single solution to this situation. I took a deep breath and bowed deeply, creating a ninety-degree angle. Once I did that I spoke, voice filled with remorse. I didn't even had to act, I was really remorseful for what the previous Victor did to her.
"I would like to sincerely apologize for what I did! I know it is unforgivable and I will understand if you are going to hate me but I would like you to know that I am very sorry for what I did!"
Seeing this and hearing my words the whole dance hall froze, looking at me in shock. Yuki quickly reacted, she ran to stand next to me and bowed to my left exactly as I did as she spoke.
"I am not sure what my pupil did to you but I would like to also apologize on his behalf. I trust him with my life and when he feels he wronged you this much I want to support him in his remorse!"
Only sounds that could be heard in the whole hall after this were sounds of several glasses breaking as they fell out of hands of shocked guests. Before Elizabeth could react, another person ran up to me and bowed to my right. This time it was Rina.
"I would like to apologize for my boldness but as a personal maid and Vic's companion I would also like to join him in his apology."
What followed was pin drop silence as the three of us stood in front of Elizabeth bowing deeply. Me as a higher noble bowing to her as a lower noble and apologizing during my party in my house was unheard of. Normally me talking to her and ignoring the incident and not doing it again would be best she could hope for. But this shocked her, together with all other guests. The implications were far reaching. For everybody around, this was the peak of humility they never even thought of. The person to break the silence, several minutes later, ended up being Elizabeth.
"Please! There is no need for the three of you to bow to me. I can feel that you are really sincere about this. I accept your apology!"
We all straightened up and I spoke right away.
"Thank you very much for that!"
Honestly, I didn't expect anything from this, the reason I apologized was that I was disgusted from what the original Victor did to her. There is no way for me to undo that, so least I could do was to properly apologize.
