Mythical Era: My Evolution into a Celestial Beast

Chapter 832: The Arrival of Chen Chu, The Beast Calamity (II)

Above the clouds at an altitude of a hundred thousand meters, fleets of black battleships sliced through the skies at ten times the speed of sound. Runic symbols flickered along the sides of each ship, forming powerful energy shields that held back the violent winds.

On the bridge of Orbital Battleship No.5, Chen Chu stepped out of the meeting room and walked to the edge, gazing out at the rapidly retreating clouds on both sides. A surge of heroic pride swelled in his chest.

Compared to his ordinary past life, this one was far more exhilarating, especially ever since he began walking the path of cultivation. After a brief moment of reflection, a complicated look surfaced in his eyes. He planned to fly over to Orbital Battleship No.1 and visit his classmates Luo Fei and An Fuqing.

This expedition would span over ten million kilometers. At the scheduled speed, they would exit human territory within an hour, departing from the base of the Expansion Division's Thirty-First Legion.

The journey was expected to take about a month, crossing hundreds of dangerous regions before reaching the territory of the Heavenly Feathered Race. Chen Chu had much to accomplish during that time—first and foremost, advancing to the heavenly king level and forging all of his laws, innate abilities, and arts into a personal combat scripture: the Divine Battle Scripture.

Before that, however, he needed to find Luo Fei and retrieve the Life Crystals, so he could transmute the ultimate runes of the five ancient body enhancement arts he had cultivated to the ninth stage. At that point, he could fuse them with his War God Body 2.0 and the Dark Star innate ability, elevating them together into divine abilities.

On his way here, he had already contacted the AI Waling through satellite signal relays, intending to redeem a portion of Life Crystals. To his surprise, he was told that ever since the great battle at the Sky Battlefield, most of the Life Crystals collected by various logistics cities in the mythical world had already been exchanged for by Luo Fei.

The news gave Chen Chu pause. He didn't recall Luo Fei needing Life Crystals as a resource. However, after a moment's thought, he more or less understood what they were for, and though he felt a little moved, his emotions were equally complicated.

Chen Chu sighed inwardly. Just as he was about to take off, however, his steps halted slightly, his eyes narrowing as his attention turned entirely toward the Destructive Dragon Emperor.

***

Deep within the Chaotic Region, in an area two million kilometers from the edge, the cracked and barren earth was crawling with over ten million mutated colossal beasts.

Most of them were level 5, each around twenty to thirty meters long. Their bodies resembled earthworms clad in brownish scale armor, bearing sharp claws, scorpion-like tails, and backs bristling with spikes.

In addition, there were over two hundred thousand level 8 and 9 colossal beasts mixed in. These were even larger, far more grotesque, and clearly a different breed from their level 5 counterparts.

Amid this sea of beasts roamed over a hundred ancient colossal elephants, each a kilometer long and five to six hundred meters tall, fully clad in heavy armor. The aura they exuded rippled with mythical-level pressure.

These mutated beasts filled the skies and earth, surrounding the Dragon Emperor, the Silver Colossal Dragon, and their two other companions. They snarled with piercing cries, their auras aggressive and unyielding, and they showed no fear of the vast difference in level between themselves and the Dragon Emperor.

This time, the Dragon Emperor and its group hadn't gone looking for beasts over resources—the beasts had come to them. They had surrounded these mythical- and titan-level beings as though they were prey.

What made the Dragon Emperor truly solemn, however, was the presence of a faint spiritual will hidden within the ocean of beasts. It linked all of the beasts together into one colossal entity. Even their individual energies had been unified, forming a suppressive domain-like pressure, so overwhelming that it rivaled the effect of principles and blanketed an area tens of thousands of kilometers wide.

Under this pressure, the Silver Dragon, the Golden-Blue Colossal Dragon, and the Single-Horned Kunpeng were all forced to the ground. The law domains surrounding them failed to take shape under the crushing weight. Even the Dragon Emperor was unable to unleash its domain to initiate large-scale slaughter.

As the mutated colossal beasts slowly closed in, the Silver Dragon's eyes gleamed with menace as it roared,These damned wretches must have a death wish, daring to attack the great Saixitia!

The Golden-Blue Dragon's gaze turned grave.Thunder Fiery, this is serious. I think... we've encountered a Beast Calamity.

So this is what they meant by a Beast Calamity, the Dragon Emperor murmured, eyes narrowing as it scanned the endless waves of approaching beasts. A cold glint shone in its golden vertical pupils.

Before they had first entered the Chaotic Region, the Azure-White Colossal Dragon had mentioned the dangers deep within, the Beast Calamity among them. According to the Azure-White Dragon, this consisted of mutated colossal beasts from dozens of species, moving like a plague of locusts. Wherever they passed, they consumed everything—beasts, aliens, plants, even minerals.

They were all controlled by a single beast king, whose will united them and created a special domain of principle that suppressed all forces of heaven and earth. Even the Azure-White Dragon had admitted it would be suppressed if caught within.

The more beasts present within this domain, the more damage they inflicted. Their claws and fangs carried innate armor-piercing and force-field-breaking effects; hundreds of level 8 beasts attacking in unison could even tear through the defenses of a mythical-level beast.

When besieged by millions, even a titan-level beast would be worn down and killed, and now they faced ten million...

The Dragon Emperor lowly growled,Their weakness lies in the hidden beast king. Kill it, and the rest will scatter. Stay behind me.

It then thought to itself,This so-called Beast Calamity dared come after me—ridiculous. Today, I will teach this beast king the true meaning of destruction. Ten million beasts? No, ten million corpses.

Roar!

The Dragon Emperor threw back its head and let out a ferocious howl, releasing an eruption of violent power. Its black-and-red wings, sharp as blades, flared open in fury.Kill them all!

Boom!

The Dragon Emperor, nearly 2,900 meters long and 1,000 meters tall at the shoulder, charged forward. The ground beneath a hundred-kilometer radius shattered and collapsed, boulders blasting skyward.

The shockwave formed a sandstorm several thousand meters high, sweeping across hundreds of kilometers. Over a hundred thousand high-level mutated colossal beasts were blown away, their bodies torn apart by the invisible explosive force, turning the land into a sea of blood and flesh.

Kill every last one of them!the Silver Dragon bellowed, unfurling its wings and transforming into a streak of silver light as it charged after the Dragon Emperor. Its thick body was quickly covered in glacial crystal armor a hundred meters thick, studded with giant icy spikes that made it appear monstrously menacing. Though it couldn't channel the power of heaven and earth through its innate laws, as a mythical colossal dragon, its combat strength had hardly diminished.

Amid the dust and shockwaves, the Golden-Blue Dragon silently followed. Crystals crept across its body as well, forming a multicolored armor dozens of meters thick.

While the Kunpeng couldn't condense a law-based armor, its scales were naturally heavy and durable. With a piercing screech like a siren, it surged forward, radiating killing intent.

Just as the Dragon Emperor struck, colossal beasts filled the skies at altitudes of tens of thousands of meters. They resembled massive pythons, hundreds of meters to even a kilometer long, each bearing bat-like wings on their backs.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

From the bellies of those red python-like beasts, bone spikes measuring thirty, fifty, even a hundred meters long shot out at dozens of times the speed of sound. Twined in green light, they screamed through the air with a sharp, piercing whistle.

In an instant, hundreds of thousands of bone spike missiles blotted out the sky, enveloping the Dragon Emperor and the surrounding colossal beasts.

Boom!

A black-and-red tail, over a thousand meters long and bearing a blade, tore through the sky and split the void. With terrifying speed and power, it carved a ten-thousand-meter-long blade shadow across the battlefield.

A destructive pressure zone formed in the air, stretching over ten kilometers. Every incoming bone spike missile that entered the area was instantly shattered and detonated.

The resulting explosion shook the heavens and earth. Space itself ruptured across a hundred kilometers above, and the world was flooded with a flash of green light.

With the explosive force of hundreds of thousands of bone spikes, each equivalent to a conventional missile, a high-yield warhead, or even a tactical nuke. even the pressure field left by the Dragon Emperor's strike collapsed on impact.

By then, however, the Dragon Emperor had already crossed more than a hundred kilometers and charged into the mutated beast sea like a moving mountain, trailed by shockwaves of overwhelming momentum.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

With a body nearly three kilometers long and moving at terrifying speed, the Dragon Emperor didn't even need to attack. Every step through the battlefield crushed and pulverized mythical and sub-mythical colossal beasts into clouds of blood mist.

Its massive black-and-red claws swiped in a flash. Space beneath them fractured, and more than twenty level 9 beasts, each two to three hundred meters long, exploded instantly.

Its tail blade swept low to the ground, carving out a flat swath of darkness. The condensed destructive energy and bladelike force erased everything in a radius of over ten kilometers, leaving behind only a blood-drenched wasteland.
