CHAPTER 4
Dielin’s hell began when she fell in love with Hugel Ambrosia.
She was destined to become the wife of the next Duke of Ambrosia. As a child, her grandfather had arranged her marriage with the Ambrosia family.
“I am not unscrupulous enough to covet my brother’s woman.”
Ethan Ambrosia, who became Duke, had said this and arranged for her to live separately even after their marriage.
Dielin, married to the older brother of the man she loved, slowly went insane as she tormented herself.
Although the Duke had never touched her, Dielin’s pregnancy had been revealed.
“If only Hugel had become the Duke, I wouldn’t have gone this far. Ethan Ambrosia, that damned man took my Hugel”
“Dielin, please.”
Sarah sighed as she embraced Dielin, who anxiously muttered while biting her nails.
This was the beginning of all the tragedies Sarah had inadvertently set into motion.
Dielin’s tragic love and misfortune—events that did not exist in the ‘future‘ Park Hye-yeon had foreseen—were only described in The Flower of Darkness, written by Park Hye-yeon herself.
‘I want to experience a love like fate, Sarah!’
‘A passionate love that cannot be bound by family, duties, or children!’
‘I think it’s okay to run away for love. A love that blooms in the midst of misfortune. Ah, what could be more romantic than a tragic love?’
‘Really? If you read the novel I’m writing these days, will you change your mind? There’s someone with a very tragic love.’
‘Really? What’s the lucky boy’s name?’
‘I haven’t decided yet.’
‘Then name him after me. I want to experience that kind of love, even if it’s just in your novel. Will you show it to me when you’re done?’
‘Well…Okay, I got it.’
Since Sarah had no sense of naming, she used Dielin’s name for the male protagonist’s mother, fulfilling her friend’s wish.
She even used the names of people she had seen in the future.
Had she known it would lead to such a tragedy, she would never have done it.
Sara regretted that day over and over again.
‘It’s okay. That’s it. If it were known that I died like this, what would my father do? But Sarah, my child…Can you take care of my child?’
Just like Dielin in The Flower of Darkness, with the same name but different lives, families, and ages, Sarah’s dear friend Dielin fell in love with Hugel, not the Duke of Ambrosia, and had a child she never should have had.
‘Dielin’
Sarah looked at Dielin’s heavily pregnant belly, which had grown like a mountain.
According to The Flower of Darkness, Dielin’s child would become Claude Ambrosia, the novel’s male protagonist.
‘Please, Sarah… If it were you, you could stop the curse that will continue to plague my child. So please…please. Without you, I cannot leave peacefully.’
Sarah looked at Dielin, who gazed at her desperately.
If she couldn’t change things and couldn’t return to the future—
Even if it meant destroying this world, she would change fate.
‘Not right now. But if you want…yes. I will protect your child.’
‘Thank you, thank you so much.’
Sarah took Dielin’s trembling hand and held her sobbing friend close.
She was determined to change the fate of this world, which moved according to The Flower of Darkness written by Park Hye-yeon.
Claude would gain the most powerful ally—
The only nanny who could break the curse passed down through generations of the Duke of Ambrosia family.
From now on, The Flower of Darkness would pave a thorny road for Dielin’s child.
“I will tear down that road, no matter what.”
Sarah was determined to become Claude Ambrosia’s nanny.
Sarah had eagerly looked forward to meeting Claude for the first time.
It had taken six years to prepare everything for his future.
As much as she longed to see him, she now cherished this moment facing the child.
“Ha…you’re cuter than I imagined.”
Sarah covered her mouth with her hand and let out a sigh of relief, her fair cheeks blushing red.
“…”
Claude’s small body trembled at the sight.
He alternated between looking at Sarah’s face and the gentle hand stretched out toward him.
At six years old, the child had always done whatever he pleased.
But now, things weren’t going as he wanted.
Embarrassed by the unfamiliar situation, he instinctively reached out his tiny hand and grabbed Sarah’s outstretched one.
“Okay, Claude.”
Sarah’s lips curled in satisfaction.
Though everything seemed to have gone off track, this moment with the precious child was thrilling.
“Not a bad first meeting, is it?”
Not bad!
At Sarah’s words, Claude snapped back to his senses.
Startled, he pulled his hand away and looked around in a panic, seeking someone to help him.
“May, May!”
“Yes, yes! Claude!”
“Tell her to leave! Huh? Tell her to go!”
Claude clung to May’s skirt, whining.
May, who had been frozen with fear, glanced at Sarah nervously.
“It wasn’t just a low-ranking noble title that the Countess of Millen took by force… Even the Emperor knew Sarah Millen was a wizard!”
Only now did May understand the meaning behind Duke Ethan Ambrosia’s warning:
[Respect Sarah Millen with all your heart and do not provoke her.]
Ethan Ambrosia had said any violation of this warning would be strictly punished.
May realized that her earlier actions may have offended Sarah.
As someone who feared the strong and bullied the weak, May now saw Sarah Millen as the strong one and herself as the weak.
In such situations, the best approach was to surrender completely.
“Oh…I’m so scared.”
May tightly closed her eyes, recalling Sarah’s calm yet terrifying smile.
The picturesque beauty of it only made it more frightening.
Determined to calm Claude down, she stretched out her trembling arms.
“Hey, Claude? Don’t do that, come here. I’ll hold you.”
May’s voice shook, but Claude stubbornly shook his head, his eyes brimming with tears.
“No, no!”
Words couldn’t reach the stubborn child.
Tears welled up and spilled down his plump cheeks.
“Oh my, what’s wrong with our Claude? Just once, please listen to me. Otherwise, the Duke might get very angry!”
“Why? Why would my father be mad at me because of her?”
Claude’s voice trembled with frustration.
His cheeks puffed in anger, and another cry welled up from his throat.
Sarah gripped her hand tightly, closing her eyes briefly before opening them again.
The sight of Claude, fists clenched and biting his lip, with tears streaming down—
‘Cute.’
It was simply adorable.
To May and the servants, Claude’s stubbornness might seem like that of a little devil.
But to Sarah, who had already fallen in love the moment she met him, everything about him was precious.
“Fufu.”
Sarah’s bright smile radiated happiness as she gazed at the child.
“…”
“…”
And everyone else watched in stunned silence.
