Nanny Of The Villain

CHAPTER 8

“Heh, heh heh! OMG! My Lord, you were here!”

Dressed neatly in the uniform of the Knights of Ambrosia, Jade, Ethan Ambrosia’s assistant, stood there in astonishment.

To his surprise, he was carrying the butler on his back and the handmaiden in his arms.

“Jade, you can put them down now.”

“Thank you, Jade.”

The butler and the handmaiden lightly jumped down from Jade’s arms, their faces expressionless.

Without glancing back, Jade stood behind the Duke of Ambrosia, while looking at the two of them.

He kept his mouth open for a moment, unable to speak. But as if shaking himself back to reality, he approached the duke and shouted,

“Why would you suddenly run off like that!”

“Ah.”

“Do you know how shocked I was when you suddenly jumped out of the carriage, my lord?”

Each time Jade moved in frustration, his red hair fluttered wildly.

Ethan looked at his aide, who was running around frantically, and only then did he remember what he had left behind in the carriage.

He furrowed his brows and asked,

“The letter?”

“The knights are guarding it well now!”

“Good.”

“Good? You think it’s good? Who just casually throws it away like that? Huh?”

Jade grumbled, pounding his chest in frustration.

“The knights vanished in an instant, following you, my lord!”

“The few who remained had to stay behind to guard the carriage because of that letter! Ronda’s maid of honor, Veron’s love, scolded me, saying, “Why didn’t you follow the master?”

“That…”

Looking at Jade, who seemed exhausted beyond his years, Ethan clicked his tongue in pity. No wonder he had come all this way carrying both the butler and the handmaiden. Though he wore the uniform of the Knights of Ambrosia, Jade was more skilled in intelligence than combat, serving as Ethan’s capable assistant.

Thinking about how difficult it must have been for him to carry them both, Ethan felt a twinge of guilt.

“How unfair! It was you who ran away, my lord, yet why am I the one suffering?!”

At Jade’s truly mournful tone, Ethan glanced at the butler and handmaiden standing behind him.

They simply looked at Jade with an air of indifference, while he frowned at his master. Eventually, Ethan spoke in a soft voice to console his aide.

“I’m sorry. It wasn’t intentional. Truly.”

“It better not have been! If it was intentional, I might actually cry!”

“Of course, a little teasing is fun, but not this time.”

As Ethan’s handsome face clouded with embarrassment, Jade suddenly felt guilty, as if he had overreacted.

The butler and the handmaiden, who had remained silent, now pushed for him to accept the apology quickly and stop complaining.

“I’m really embarrassed!”

In the end, Jade buried his face in his hands in despair. There was no one on his side in this mansion. Everyone was devoted to the master!

Wasn’t this why Ethan constantly did as he pleased? In the end, it was always Jade’s job to clean up the mess. With the amount of trust placed in him, it was only natural.

“Haha.”

Hearing the duke’s laughter, Jade turned his head and glanced around. Through his furious gaze, he caught sight of a shattered window.

“How did that happen? Could it be related to the noise I heard earlier…?”

Jade hurriedly turned his head, scanning the surroundings. His eyes widened when he saw Sarah holding Claude.

‘The young lord looks so at ease in the arms of a stranger…!’

Claude seemed to be in an unusually good mood, his cheeks flushed.

It was a sight Jade, who had been the closest caretaker to the young lord, had never seen before.

Though it only lasted a moment, Jade quickly recognized Sarah and bowed politely, placing one hand across his chest.

“I apologize for the delayed greeting, Countess Millen. Please forgive my rudeness. I am Jade Harper.”

“I will forgive Sir Harper if he understands why his reaction was a little delayed.”

Sarah, holding Claude, smiled and slightly bent her knees in a curtsy.

Ethan watched in amusement as his aide’s ears turned red.

“As expected, Countess Millen is truly generous. I can only express my gratitude for your kindness.”

Where had Jade’s grumbling attitude gone? Now, he was trying his best to appear dignified before Sarah. Observing this, Ethan let out a small sigh and spoke to Sarah.

“I can’t take back what I’ve said, so I will keep my promise, Countess Millen.”

“If so, I appreciate it.”

“Then, if you’ll excuse us.”

Without hesitation, Ethan turned away, grabbing his aide’s collar.

“Ah, Sir Harper.”

“Uh, uh! My Lord, wait…! My face!”

“You don’t need to put on an act.”

Dragged away unceremoniously, Jade covered his face with both hands in embarrassment.

Sarah found the sight amusing, but her smile faded when she noticed Claude watching his father leave without a word.

“…”

The child gazed silently at his father’s departing figure, his face filled with quiet resignation. Seeing that expression, Sarah’s heart ached.

Without realizing it, she called out, “Duke.”

“…? What is it?”

“If you keep my abilities a secret, I’ll give you one more hour.”

Claude’s body trembled at Sarah’s words. She gently stroked his back with a smile. Though the meaning wasn’t clear, Ethan knew it was a favorable offer.

“I’ll gladly accept it.”

Ethan, having momentarily released Jade, grabbed him once more and walked away. Jade once again buried his face in his hands in frustration.

As they walked down the hallway, Ethan spoke to the butler and handmaiden following him.

“Veron, make sure she gets everything she needs and report back.”

“Yes, my lord.”

Veron bowed and turned toward Claude’s room. Once the butler was out of sight, Ethan finally let go of Jade’s collar.

“You’re really doing this, my lord.”

“Consider it character-building. What do you think the Countess will say?”

“She’ll probably think the Duke of Ambrosia’s assistant is quite adorable.”

“Haha, your nonsense is surprisingly honest.”

As Ethan continued walking, Jade pouted but quickly composed himself, realizing that Ronda, the handmaiden, was still behind them.

She regarded him with her usual cold expression.

Having served the master for years, Veron and Ronda, the twin attendants, were always difficult for Jade to deal with. Their unwavering loyalty to Ethan was unmatched.

Ethan sighed and gestured to Ronda.

“Prepare everything. I want this matter resolved within an hour.”

“Understood.”

As Ronda walked away, Jade let out a deep sigh.

“Sir Harper, do you know Countess Sarah Millen well?”

Jade thought for a moment, recalling her reputation.

“Of course. Several of my acquaintances were quite taken with her.”

Sarah Millen had turned the social world upside down with her debut.

Beautiful, intelligent, and confident, she was often regarded as the most charming woman on the continent.

“And now, to find out that she’s a wizard…! The first wizard to appear in the Crombell Empire in 40 years, my lord. No one could have suspected it.”

Ethan patted his aide’s shoulder and spoke.

“From now on, no one will know. I need to secure more of my precious time.”

Jade hesitated.

“But what if someone tries to interfere?”

Ethan smirked.

“Then…it’ll be quite entertaining.”

Jade shuddered, recognizing the dangerous glint in his master’s eyes.

Opening the carriage door, he froze at the sight of a bound man inside, his eyes wide in terror.

“Hmm!”
