Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Fierce Battle Against the Shadow of the Shinobi World, the Dōjutsu Izanagi
"Alright."
Obito didn't bother asking what use the boy had.
He simply absorbed him into the Kamui dimension and vanished from sight.
Meanwhile, Lucas Moore continued down the corridor, carving a bloody path through every obstacle until he reached an expansive underground training field.
There, in the center of the field, sat a single chair.
Danzo sat calmly upon it, showing no sign of concern or intention to rescue his subordinates.
"As expected of you," Lucas muttered as he struck down the last enemy, clicking his tongue in mild admiration. "Even after watching your men get slaughtered, you remain cold and indifferent."
Danzo scoffed dismissively. "They're just pawns. I can always get more."
Clap clap clap!
Lucas clapped slowly, clearly satisfied. "Good. That's the answer I wanted to hear. It'll make killing you much easier on my conscience."
"And may I ask your name, stranger? Why have you come to take my life?" Danzo asked, his voice cautious.
Of course, he was only buying time.
He had remained seated earlier not out of confidence, but out of fear.
He'd witnessed firsthand how easily Lucas had butchered his forces like slicing through butter.
Someone with such overwhelming power...
Danzo had no choice but to let his men die to wear down the intruder.
"You annoy me," Lucas replied flatly.
Danzo froze. "That's it? That's your reason?!"
He was about to retort further when Lucas raised a hand to silence him.
"Enough stalling. It's time for you to die."
Lucas gripped his Zanpakuto.
Blade pointing downward. Hilt held high.
"Bankai"
"Senbonzakura Kageyoshi."
Drip.
As Lucas released the sword, it sank into the illusory sea at his feet.
Behind him, thousands of towering blades materialized.
Each one ten stories tall, radiating a crushing presence.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The blades then disintegrated with a soft hiss
Transforming into countless razor-sharp fragments that filled the sky in a blooming sea of cherry blossoms.
No warm-up.
No holding back.
Lucas launched straight into his Bankai.
"What in the world is this? A genjutsu?!" Danzo's eyes widened.
"No… it's that blade. That cursed sword created all these fragments!"
"Die, Danzo!"
Lucas's voice was cold and calm.
Whoosh!
The sea of pink blades surged forward, bearing down on Danzo like a tidal wave.
Danzo swiftly formed hand seals and opened his mouth wide.
"Wind Style Vacuum Serial Waves!"
Shhh! Shhh! Shhh!
Blades of compressed wind shot from his mouth, forming a web of cutting force to block the oncoming attack.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Many of the cherry blossom blades were deflected.
But there were simply too many.
In an instant, Danzo was buried beneath the bladed storm.
The razor fragments shredded him alive, until his lifeless body crumpled to the floor.
Lucas narrowed his eyes. "That felt too easy. If I remember right, this old rat had a certain forbidden jutsu..."
Sure enough...
Before he could finish the thought, a figure reappeared behind him.
"Wind Style Vacuum Great Sphere!"
Danzo's voice rang out, followed by a powerful burst of wind from his mouth.
Unlike the earlier slender blades, this one resembled a massive air cannon.
Lucas waved one hand.
Two hundred million cherry blossom fragments swirled behind him, condensing into a thick defensive wall.
BOOM!!
The air cannon collided with the shield in a thunderous blast.
Layer upon layer of petals were scattered, reduced to fragments.
By the time the attack subsided, over 170 million blades had been wiped out.
Lucas raised an eyebrow, his tone laced with begrudging admiration.
"Not bad for the so-called Shadow of the Shinobi World. You nearly wiped out two hundred million of my Senbonzakura blades."
Despite the compliment, his gaze shifted to Danzo's right arm.
The bandages were gone.
Where four Sharingan had once been implanted, only three remained open.
The last was shut tight.
"The arm had four eyes. I've killed him once already."
Lucas squinted slightly. "So that leaves three more Sharingan. Plus his real body, that's four kills to finish him off. What a pain."
There was no doubt about it.
At this point, Danzo had already mastered the Uchiha clan's ultimate dōjutsu Izanagi.
A cheap, broken technique.
It allowed the user to transform any injuries or even death itself into an illusion for a short time.
During the jutsu's duration, all negative outcomes became nullified.
But once used, the Sharingan that activated it would permanently lose its light.
Apparently, Danzo hadn't yet transplanted the full set of eyes into his arm.
Lucas recalled that Danzo eventually implanted ten Sharingan and could sustain Izanagi for up to 60 seconds, though his chakra back then was limited due to old age.
That Danzo had to be at least in his sixties.
Lucas always believed his death to Sasuke was more plot-driven than realistic.
But the Danzo before him now looked barely fifty, still in his prime.
With ample chakra reserves, it was likely he could sustain Izanagi even longer.
"Not that it matters," Lucas thought to himself. "I'm not waiting around for sixty seconds for his eyes to close on their own. That would be a waste of time."
His eyes sharpened.
"If I strike fast enough and wound him severely, each Sharingan will shut one by one. That's the most efficient method."
As Lucas calculated his next move, Danzo backed away, watching him closely.
"This guy's sea of blades allows perfect offense and defense. Half of them protect his body while the other half can strike freely. How am I supposed to land a hit?"
Danzo's mind raced.
Within half a second, he came up with an answer.
He bit down on his thumb, pressed his bloodied hand to the ground, and formed hand seals.
"Summoning Jutsu"
"Baku!"
Boom!
A cloud of smoke erupted as a monstrous beast took shape.
It had an elephant-like trunk, but its limbs were clawed like a tiger. Its fur was a vibrant orange.
"BWOOOOHH!!"
The giant Baku reared back and unleashed a massive inhalation, sucking in everything in front of it including millions of cherry blossom blades.
"So he's using that trick… Looks like the old man's planning to sacrifice his summon. Ruthless."
Lucas smirked, allowing the Baku to inhale freely.
Within seconds, five hundred million blades were gone.
"Now's my chance!" Danzo's eyes gleamed as he revealed a twisted grin.
"Wind Style Shuriken!"
He leaned forward and exhaled gently, imbuing two small shuriken with wind chakra.
Whizz! Whizz!
He hurled them with all his strength.
But Lucas merely sneered and stepped forward.
Swish!
With a flash of movement, he vanished and reappeared behind Danzo in an instant.
Raising one hand, he summoned thousands of petal blades that reformed into his Zanpakuto.
Danzo's expression twisted. "What?! You still"
Before he could finish, Lucas gave a light swing.
Slice!
A head soared through the air.
Lucas's voice was calm, eyes filled with disdain.
"Did you really think losing my blade fragments meant I had no way to fight back? Foolish old man."
