Naruto: A True Monster

Chapter 24: Chapter 24

They were commonly referred to as cannon fodder as in times of war they would be sent into battle first in order to weaken the strength of the enemy. The members of the Genin Corps were also denied a few luxuries available to the students under Jonin such as assisted guidance in correcting their techniques and Jutsus making it much harder for them to become stronger. This was just one of the many disadvantages of joining the Genin Corps and all students were aware of this one way or another. It was truly a place a ninja aspiring to become a Jonin or higher-level shinobi wouldn't want to go.

Yuu had originally planned to fail and join the Genin Corps where he would apply for a long term mission, which were usually very unpopular e.g to guard the border of the Land of Fire, far away from Konoha where he would have more freedom to kill and grow stronger as he pleased however plans change and now he was instead being supported by the Kurama clan , which despite being the weakest clan, was still better than nothing so all's well that ends well.

The Hokage stood up and nodded towards the Kurama jonin before facing the rest of the students "And that marks the end of the selection process. For those of you selected to be tutored either in four-man teams or in one on one, I sincerely congratulate you on the start of your journey to become high level shinobi. As for the rest of you who weren't chosen, remember this isn't the end as the will of fire burns equally in all of us. The Genin Corps while not as luxurious as being guided by a Jonin still offers training that will make you all into strong and capable shinobi capable of bringing peace and prosperity to the village so do not despair as all of you are, in reality, shinobi belonging to the great tree of Konoha and any effort you make will further strengthen this beautiful tree, this beautiful village."

Everyone clapped at the end of his speech as Yuu and the rest of the chosen could see that the spirits of the students who hadn't been selected had been lifted enough to bring smiles to their faces.

'The will of Fire speech by Hiruzen and the rest of the higher ups is truly a terrifying brain washing technique. Even I might have fallen for it if I wasn't a transmigrated individual.' Thought Yuu as he gazed ahead with a calm face while mocking everyone on the inside. No matter how great a speech Hiruzen gave it didn't change the fate of those who hadn't been chosen. In the end they would merely serve as cannon fodder for the Hidden Leaf Village.

Everyone dispersed with their selected Jonin leaders shortly after. Yuu followed silently behind the Kurama Jonin. Soon they arrived at the entrance of the Kurama clan compound. Yuu followed the Jonin inside. As he looked around he was shocked to see just how deserted the place was. There were very few people he could actually see walking around compound which, even though he knew that the Kurama clan due to their Kekei Genkai was currently facing threat of extinction, was still shocking to see.

They soon came to stand before an ordinary looking house at the centre of the compound. This house however was different from the others as it had two adult ninjas wearing demon masks guarding its front. Yuu couldn't sense their chakra level however he knew that they were strong shinobi.

The Jonin leading Yuu bowed to the two and offered them a purple token with some symbols written on it. The two ninja scanned the token, handed it back and stepped aside opening the door of the house.

"The princess is waiting for you inside" said one of the shinobi guarding the door.

The Jonin nodded and led Yuu inside the house. They walked through the house's corridor before coming to a stop in front of a sliding door.

"Come in" came a sweet melodious voice from behind the sliding door. The two opened the door and walked in only to find Yakumo seated on the floor in a seiza sitting position facing them. In front of her was a low raised table on which a pot of tea and two cups were present.

"Thank you, Keiichi, you may leave now" said Yakumo to which the Jonin beside Yuu responded by bowing down and leaving the room. With only the two of them left in the room, Yakumo turned towards Yuu

"Would you like some tea?" she asked.

"No I'm good thank you." Said Yuu.

"No I insist." She said as she poured a cup of tea and handed it to Yuu "The tea is good, I made It myself after all."

Yuu looked at the cup of tea in front of him and the sweet smile Yakumo had on her face and decided given his experience from last time with this psychotic chick it was best to just go along with her nonsense for now.

"Alright" he said as he slowly brought the cup to his mouth and took a sip.

"Good isn't it" she said as she poured herself a cup as well and took a sip.

"Yes" said Yuu with a polite smile. He wasn't lying though as the tea was actually really good and under normal circumstances he would have been glad to enjoy however this wasn't a normal circumstance. They spent the next few minutes finishing their cups of tea in silence until finally the tea in the pot was finished.

"Now that we have enjoyed a cup of tea, let's move on to more important things" she said as she stood up and walked towards a sliding door behind her.

"Follow me" she said as she opened the sliding door and walked ahead. Yuu stood up and after a short moment of contemplation, followed her. They walked for a bit before stopping near the end of the hall. She turned to face an empty grey wall and to the surprise of Yuu, placed her right hand on it and inserted her chakra. Immediately numerous lines made of complex seals, none of which Yuu recognized, emerged on the wall and began to wriggle about, gather and merge eventually forming a circular pattern in the centre of the wall with a few mysterious seals shining on sections of the patterns.

Yakumo once more put her hand on the circular pattern, her fingers placed on each of the mysterious symbols. She then twisted the circular pattern. A click sound resounded from her actions after which the outline of a door appeared on the wall. The door opened on its own revealing a descending staircase hidden in the darkness. The two of them stepped through the door. Immediately after they had crossed over, the door closed submerging the two of them in darkness. Soon however a bright orange flame was emerged in the darkness illuminating the surroundings around it. Yakumo turned to see a bright flame dancing on the top of Yuu's outstretched palm.
