Chapter 57: Chapter 57: "You Decide How We Play
Seeing Sasuke's displeased expression, Naruto refrained from asking any questions.
After all, he didn't know what had happened. Even if he wanted to comfort Sasuke, he wouldn't know how.
As they arrived at the ninja academy, the preparatory bell had just rung, forcing the two of them to sprint the last stretch.
Naruto was the first to dash into the classroom, only to find Iruka-sensei already inside, much earlier than usual.
Facing the curious stares of his classmates, Naruto felt their silent question: Where's Sasuke?
Just then, a crisp and cold female voice rang out from the doorway behind him.
"Reporting."
Naruto, ignoring the questioning looks from Iruka and the entire class, nonchalantly strolled back to his seat.
All eyes turned to the classroom door, and as they watched, a twin-tailed girl lowered her head and walked in.
The classroom erupted into chaos.
Ino Yamanaka, Sakura Haruno, and other boys who admired Sasuke were quick to notice the slightly swollen, reddened lips Sasuke seemed to be trying to hide.
This sight made several less emotionally resilient boys black out momentarily.
Conversely, the girls—like Shikamaru, Kiba, Shino, and Choji—exchanged puzzled glances in Naruto's direction, their expressions seeming to ask: What kind of fast-track vehicle is this?
How did he get this far in such a short time?
If that were all, the girls might not have felt so strongly. But Sasuke's reddened lips made it impossible not to overthink the situation.
"Unbelievable…"
Naruto was oblivious to the class uproar. As usual, he flopped onto his desk, ready to sleep. However, the sharp dinging of his system's notifications almost startled him into an early grave.
> Ding! Received 3,000 points of negative emotion from the boys in your class!
Ding! Received 5,000 points of shock from the boys in your class!
Ding! Received 3,000 points of shock from the girls in your class!
"What…?"
Naruto was utterly unprepared for this unexpected windfall of system points. As the notifications continued, he rubbed his eyes and glanced around the room, confused.
What he saw nearly made his heart skip a beat.
Yes, if looks could kill, Naruto was certain he'd have been flayed alive by his male classmates hundreds of times over by now.
"Umm… what's going on here? I know I'm handsome and attract girls' attention," Naruto said with mock arrogance. "But what's with all you future gentlemen staring at me with such fiery gazes?"
Those words ignited an uproar among the boys. Ino, Sakura, and others who had long admired Sasuke but never gained his affection erupted with rage.
"Uzumaki Naruto, I challenge you!"
"Naruto, don't leave after school!"
"Damn it… Sasuke's innocence is ruined because of you. Why? Why is this happening? It can't be true!"
The room filled with muttered complaints and suppressed yells.
Naruto was left scratching his head, completely baffled. "Huh? What are you even talking about? Who's not pure anymore?"
> Ding! Received 3,000 points of negative emotion from all classmates!
Sasuke, who had already resigned herself to Naruto's inability to help with the lip incident, had anticipated this commotion.
Though she had stayed silent, hoping to fade into the background, the escalating situation made her feel increasingly uncomfortable.
However, she hadn't expected her carelessness to lead to Naruto becoming the target of nearly the entire class's ire. This left her with an inexplicable pang of guilt.
Just as Sasuke was about to slam the desk and stand up to defend Naruto, a loud voice suddenly cut through the chaos.
"Everyone, quiet!"
Yes, Iruka-sensei had reached her breaking point. Watching her students disrupt the classroom over petty personal matters was the final straw.
The previously rowdy classroom fell silent instantly under Iruka's furious gaze.
"Have you all lost your minds? Get back to your seats this instant!" Iruka roared, glaring especially at the most agitated students.
The impending clash dissipated as the boys reluctantly shuffled back to their seats.
Naruto, still at the center of the misunderstanding, hummed lightly before resting his head on the desk again, ready to nap.
This enraged some of the boys even more, but Iruka's presence kept them from acting out.
Iruka herself was conflicted. As the teacher, she wanted to scold Naruto for his nonchalant attitude but hesitated due to her mission.
Finally, she sighed and announced, "This period will be self-study."
With that, she left the classroom, books tucked under her arm.
"Na-Ru-To…"
"Uzumaki Naruto…"
As soon as Iruka exited, murmurs rose once again.
This time, however, Naruto was genuinely asleep.

When the dismissal bell finally rang, Naruto woke up groggily, rubbing his eyes as if nothing had happened.
The sight of his casual demeanor made Iruka's eye twitch, but she held back and simply declared, "Class dismissed."
Yet, no one left.
Typically, students would scatter like birds the moment school ended, but today, they sat rooted to their seats as if waiting for a show to start.
Sasuke noticed the peculiar atmosphere, her brows furrowing as she scanned the room. Her gaze eventually landed on Shikamaru, who was walking toward Naruto's desk.
Naruto also noticed Shikamaru approaching and grinned knowingly.
"Well, well, little deer," Naruto teased. "What brings you here? Care for another lesson?"
Before Shikamaru could respond, Ino jumped up. "Naruto, don't get cocky! Last time was a fluke, but this time Shikamaru is serious!"
Ino's declaration fired up the other students, many of whom nodded in agreement.
"Oh, is that so?" Naruto chuckled, already pulling out a portable shogi set from his bag.
"All right, my dear little deer. You're the challenger, so I'll give you the choice. How do you want to play? It's up to you."
