Naruto: Blazing Eyes in the Eternal Night

Chapter 7: Chapter 6 Sunflower

He hurriedly patted Uncle Madara's face to grab his attention.

"Madara," he pointed at the sunflower on the ground, then at himself. "Jutsu."

Uchiha Madara froze for a moment. "You're saying... that thing on the ground is your jutsu?"

"But you've never learned how to use chakra, have you?"

Kyojuro tilted his head. "No need. Chakra...can... jutsu."

"This jutsu doesn't rely on your chakra?"

Kyojuro nodded.

The sunflower on the ground continued to sway in the wind.

Madara stood still, looking at the sunflower, then at Kyojuro's adorable face in his arms.

Alright. His kid having some special abilities was completely normal.

Yes! Absolutely normal!!!

Nothing to be shocked about—he was an uncle, after all!

Convincing himself internally, Madara kept a serious expression on the surface.

"Kyojuro, your talent is extraordinary. We need to inform Father."

He glanced at the still-moving sunflower and closed his eyes briefly. Watching it twist and turn was making his eyes hurt.

"Can you make it disappear?"

Kyojuro shook his head.

"Alright then."

Madara endured the mental stress and directly wrapped the sunflower tightly in Kyojuro's little blanket, lifting it in one hand.

"Let's go."

...........................................................

"This is what happened, Father."

Tajima, dragged out of his study by his eldest son, was bombarded with information.

He blinked, looked at the sunflower on the ground, then at Kyojuro, who was sitting obediently to the side.

"Kyojuro, can you do it again?"

Kyojuro nodded and formed a simple hand seal.

Poof—

This time, Madara saw it clearly—the sunflower grew slowly from the ground.

It even broke through the tatami mat.

Tajima scoffed. "Hmph. This brat is sloppy even with illusions."

Kyojuro was an Uchiha child. How could he possibly be using Mokuton—a crude ability belonging to the Senju?

He raised a hand and formed a seal.

Release!

Nothing changed.

The strange sunflower wiggled again.

Unconvinced, Tajima tried another release.

Still nothing.

Tajima glanced at the birds' nest outside the window. He could see it just fine.

His vision was perfectly normal—there was no way he was hallucinating something that didn't exist.

After a moment, he clapped his hands together and ruffled Kyojuro's hair with a hearty laugh.

"Hahahaha! Good boy! Well done!!!"

Wasn't this Mokuton?!

The Senju's once-in-several-centuries treasure! And now Uchiha had one too!

Wait… Senju's… treasure…?

Mokuton was a Senju bloodline ability.

Tajima's expression twitched.

Could it be that Koichi fathered Kyojuro with a Senju woman...?

The thought sent a shiver down his spine, and he immediately buried the idea deep in his mind.

While the Uchiha and Senju had eased tensions in recent years, two decades ago, they had been at each other's throats.

No. It couldn't be.

Koichi must have… stolen a Senju baby!

Yes! Stolen!

That brat had incredible luck—stealing a grand prize just like that.

So what if he was stolen? Raised in Uchiha, he was an Uchiha now!

Having settled on his narrative, Tajima turned serious again.

"Kyojuro's talent is incredibly rare. No outsiders must know about it. These two flowers… we'll keep them in the secret chamber."

At this, Kyojuro immediately shook his head. "Flower… sun!"

"It needs sunlight?"

"Mhm!"

Madara added, "Father, the flower also releases some golden substance."

Kyojuro nodded and covered his eyes with both hands. "Sticker… eyes… good."

He wasn't sure how to describe it, but knowledge of the sunflower's use surfaced naturally in his mind.

The sunflower's golden patches contained sunlight energy, which could help alleviate the side effects of overusing the Sharingan and replenish lost vitality.

Fortunately, neither of the two Uchihas present were idiots. Exchanging a glance, Tajima spoke first.

"I'll do it."

"Father!"

"Madara, calm down. You observe."

"…Understood."

Since Kyojuro's ability couldn't be revealed, one of them had to test it.

Madara had only recently awakened his Sharingan, so the effect on him wouldn't be obvious. Tajima decided he would try it himself.

"Kyojuro, how do I use it? Do I just stick the flower to my face?"

He had never seen the sunflower produce the light patches before. The one from the lake had already disappeared.

Kyojuro pointed outside. "Sunlight. Flower."

Madara also recalled that the previous sunflower had released something only under sunlight.

"Father, I'll move one to the courtyard."

"Good."

The three of them waited in the courtyard.

Finally, the sunflower released a golden patch.

"Just place it over my eyes?"

"Mhm! Stick!"

"Alright."

Tajima lay down on the wooden veranda, placing the golden patch over his eyes.

A warm sensation spread through him…

As expected of Kyojuro's ability—it felt just like him.

After a while, he noticed the strain in his eyes easing, and the dull ache in his temples fading.

A little later, Madara watched as the golden patch dissipated and woke his father.

"Father, how do you feel?"

Tajima sat up, stretched, and moved his limbs.

"The effect is incredible."

It was hard to describe. Like watching a cat basking in the sun, its fur warm and fluffy—you'd never know how good it felt until you experienced it yourself.

Tajima felt at least two years younger. His vision, weakened from overusing the Sharingan, had improved.

Uchiha had just gained a priceless treasure.

He lifted Kyojuro high into the sunlight.

The Sun Child of the Uchiha!

The golden rays reflected in Kyojuro's hair, making Tajima think—this child was meant to have golden hair.

Hah! This treasure belonged to Uchiha now!

Happily pulling Kyojuro into his arms, Tajima completely ignored Madara's outstretched hands.

"Kyojuro, can you summon another sunflower?"

Kyojuro shook his head. "One year, two. I small."

His ability was tied to his physical growth. Right now, he could only summon two sunflowers a year—any more would affect his development.

Next year, he might be able to summon four.

Tajima understood. "I see. Kyojuro is amazing. Grow up well, alright?"

"Mhm!"
