Chapter 67: Chapter 66: Incomplete sample
The instant Yamato used Wood Release, Naruto's eyes lit up. Yamato practically turned into a treasure chest in his eyes.
The legendary Wood Release of the First Hokage, something he thought had long vanished, was now right in front of him!
As Naruto recalled the First Hokage's incredible feats, his gaze sharpened, staring intensely at Yamato.
'If the First Hokage was so powerful with Wood Release… does that mean this Yamato guy is just as strong?' Naruto wondered.
He considered the thought for a second… then slowly shook his head.
looking at Yamato's pale, drained face, Naruto quickly shook his head.
No way.
After all, the books said the First Hokage could create forests that spanned kilometers in a single motion, without even breaking a sweat.
Meanwhile, Yamato was already panting after building just a single house.
'Maybe Wood Release alone wasn't what made the First Hokage who he was… there must be something more to it.'
Something that made the shinobi world revere him like a god…' Naruto thought, frowning slightly.
But he quickly dismissed the thought.
Right now none of that matters.
What mattered was: he had to get a sample of Yamato's DNA.
While Naruto stood lost in thought, Harada's loud, energetic voice snapped him back.
"Naruto! As promised, it's all done by noon. Our deal is complete. I still have to report to the Third Hokage, so I'll take my leave."
"Ahh yes, thank you, Uncle Harada! I really love this house," Naruto said with genuine gratitude.
Without Harada's help, finding such a great place would've been nearly impossible for him.
Naruto then turned to Yamato with a respectful bow.
"Thank you for your help too, Mr. Yamato."
Yamato managed a faint smile upon hearing that, clearly exhausted but appreciative.
"Ahh… it was nothing. I could do this kind of work daily, really…"
'Yeah, we definitely believe in you!' X2
Harada wisely chose to stay silent on the matter.
Without another word, he walked Yamato who was now limping slightly back toward the Hokage Tower.
As they made their way back to the Hokage Tower, Harada supported Yamato, quietly helping him along the path.
"Yamato, I must say, you really did a great job today. And sorry for the trouble."
"It's nothing really, senpai. I was able to help you that's what matters," Yamato replied politely.
Harada let out a small laugh at Yamato's ever-polite nature.
As they reached the Hokage Tower, Harada handed a scroll to Yamato.
"That's your reward for helping me today. Keep up the good work."
After offering a few encouraging words to Yamato, Harada took his leave
Inside the scroll was 12 million ryō a generous reward for Yamato's hard work today.
Harada knew well that without Yamato's effort, he wouldn't have earned nearly as much himself. So of course, he had to be generous with the payout.
Still smiling, Harada reported the situation in full to the Hokage, then made his way to his own house...humming happily, already thinking about how to celebrate with his well-earned bonus.
But the Third Hokage's situation was far less optimistic.
The Third Hokage had been observing everything from the start.
Using his Telescope Jutsu, he'd watched Naruto meet with Harada, inspect the property, and eventually finalize the deal.
And what could he say?
He was speechless.
Watching Naruto casually drop such a massive sum of money again—left Hiruzen in stunned silence.
It wasn't the first time Naruto had spent a large amount of money, but this one really pushed him over the edge
"Just how much money… does that boy even have?" he wondered, furrowing his brows behind the smoke of his pipe.
This time, he didn't hesitate. He sent an ANBU to discreetly investigate Naruto's finances.
The report came back faster than expected.
And it did not disappoint him.
Even after Naruto had spent a fortune on his new house, he still had over 400 million ryō sitting untouched in his account.
"..."
Even the Hokage's own personal savings weren't half that much. At this point, he seriously began to wonder
"Where the hell is this kid getting his money from?"
After a long pause, he sighed and reached for his pen.
"Summon Kakashi Hatake," he instructed the ANBU nearby. "I need to ask him something."
and then he began scribbled something onto a sheet of paper with firm hands , the message written in large, bold strokes.
He handed it to another ANBU and pointed toward the doorway.
"Stick this… firmly on the door."
As the agent disappeared, Hiruzen leaned back in his chair with a sigh.
The note read, in large, unmistakable kanji:
"Danzō
I. Am. The Hokage."
Back at his new house, Naruto was puzzled by the panel prompt he had just received.
He had easily obtained Yamato's sample—a loose strand of hair he discreetly grabbed when Yamato wasn't looking.
But when he tried to insert it into the sample section, something unexpected happened.
The panel didn't accept it as it usually did.
Instead, a prompt flashed before him:
---
[ Incomplete Sample ]
---
"Incomplete?" Naruto muttered, blinking in confusion.
This left him completely baffled. It was the same method he had used with other DNA samples, and they had worked just fine before.
What was missing this time? Why was Yamato's sample considered incomplete?
Naruto sat on the edge of his bed, thinking hard, but no answer came to him.
With a deep sigh, he flopped backward.
"Ugh… I really missed out on Wood Release like that," he sighed staring at the ceiling.
Still, his disappointment didn't last long.
He looked around the house again and was instantly distracted there was just too much to explore.
He let out a happy grin and forgot the whole matter... for now.
Although the night in his new house felt a little strange, Naruto still slept peacefully as he lay on his cozy new bed
The Next Morning…
As the sun rose, a new day began for everyone in Konoha.
But today something felt… off in the air.
Three figures walked silently through the village gates and from their attire alone, it was clear they weren't locals.
They were Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro from the Hidden Sand Village, arriving for the upcoming Chūnin Exams that would soon be held in Konoha.
"Tch. So this is Konoha, huh? Doesn't look like much," Kankuro scoffed, glancing around the calm, peaceful village. To him, it all seemed soft.
"Don't underestimate them," Temari warned, scanning the surroundings herself. "Just because it looks peaceful doesn't mean they're weak."
Konoha looked vastly different from their home it was greener, livelier, and full of prosperity in a way the Hidden Sand could never match.
Kankuro smirked at her words.
"Heh. Let them try. I'll crush anyone who comes near me. "
