Chapter 11: Chapter 12: First Channel
The door closed behind Naruto with a soft hum.
This room felt different. No voices. Only quiet and soft light.
Thin lines of glowing energy ran along the walls and ceiling and shine under the clear stone floor. They glowed in red, blue, green, gold, and orange.
Naruto stepped forward. As soon as he touched the floor, one orange line brightened. It followed his foot, stretching behind him as he moved.
He knelt and put his hand on a glowing line. It felt warm.
Suddenly, he saw a vision—a burst of light filled his mind. He saw energy flowing like rivers across mountains and rising into the sky. At the center stood a huge stone gate with words carved above it: First Channel.
He gasped and drew back.
Looking around, he noticed the glowing lines formed a map. Not of a building, but of the whole world.
A red line curled around a stone hatch at the far side of the room. Above that hatch, the words First Channel glowed in the wall.
He took a step toward the hatch, ready to open it, when one orange line above him snapped like a broken rope. A cold breeze swept the room probably a warning.
Naruto froze. Something deep in the library had just shifted. The door marked First Channel stayed shut.
He took a steady breath and prepared to find another way in.
